Sorry about the title, nothing particularly inspiring in the storylines currently Sad

No spoilers please, there’s a thread for that.

Freddy tearing up over a horse

I liked that scene. It shows that Freddie is still an inbetweener. He might think that's he's some drugs gangsta but he's also a little boy who's lost his childhood pet and a link to his daddy.
I also like the way that the actor portrays Freddie; he rings true of late-teenage boys that I know, thrashing about trying to find their identity, all bravado and bluster to hide their insecurities.

I'd say Mike is going to lose his job to Hannah. This has been heavily signalled by Susan rabbitting on about 'we can afford it now' and planning to splurge on Em'n'Chris.

LillianGish · 01/08/2018 09:44

Inclined to agree Bore, but I think you mean Neil.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/08/2018 09:51

Gah! Of course, Lillian. I do miss Moike and Vickoi though.

TigerTeatimes · 01/08/2018 10:59

Hannah was the only one to show support for Emma. Emma also didn't want special treatment though, she's prepared to put her own chances of a home on the line to fight for more of them (she mentioned it being unfair briefly a while ago.)

It's been constantly rammed down our throats that Hannah is the Bette rmanager and Neil the better pig man, now they're not getting along Hannah could use this to her advantage.

Think I've actually just repeated what you've all said already Hmm

With Father Fairbrother's finest cremant we call a toast: to Liz learning what side Lily's bread is buttered on, to no more buns in the oven and Brian's need for spare dough

Grin not quite there Hmm

echt · 01/08/2018 11:38

That's rather good, Tiger

impostersyndrome · 01/08/2018 14:10

Hannah's response was another poorly written, overly aggressive female character. Would anyone in real life speak to their new boss like that? Absolutely ridiculous.

impostersyndrome · 01/08/2018 14:11

Can I vote for LillianGish's title suggestion?

I do wish that they would research affordable housing better. I live in a parish and district both with affordable housing rules. Both have to have:
Minimum 5 years residency prior to application

Then it gets more selective if you pass those and it goes to
Employment within the (National park or district)
Family links
Length of time
Type of job etc

Affordable housing has covenants that limit resale. It would be a very bad buy for a person with no long term links to the area as the value is capped and resale can be hard. Any capacity to benefit from rising house prices is limited, so it needs to be a very long term investment.

impostersyndrome · 01/08/2018 17:10

Oh yes beavertown. And wasn't there a paper about rural poverty in relation to housing at an Academic Archers conference? They've had the research done for them, after all. And this isn't nit-picking, like with the errors around business partnerships, the BBC is ignoring its educational remit and missing an opportunity to inform their audience. I'm not saying that literary license is out, but greater verisimilitude would be just as rewarding to hear (actually, more so).

The SW are bad at posh people aren’t they? Apart from Caroline and Oliver- they rang true. Where is Oliver, by the way?
