Meredith will have to die ...

Meredith is imaginary - made clear as no one else has heard of her (eg. Johnny).
Freddie is behaving very realistically - especially the sniggering.

If Jenny does talk to Adam about "Freddie" I can imagine Adam putting her straight as Freddie did spend most of last summer mooning after the female pickers (as Adam often complains).

But is Lily that dim that she'd choose a totally made up person as her alibi - particularly someone with such an unusual name? It would be very easy to establish that there is no-one of that name at college.

I was worried about Philip he seemed to tell Kirsty a different story to what really happened with Tom. And to make it sound as if Tom was being unreasonable rather than protective.

Really? Philip gives me the creeps

The person giving me the creeps was Tom. I didn't think he was being "protective" of Kirsty. Why does Kirsty need to be protected anyway? And even if she did, who appointed him , the least appropriate person in Ambridge, to do it?

He sounded creepy, spiteful, jealous and controlling.

I agree Tom is an arse but nothing new there. However I also think Philip is dodgy but I cant quite work out why.

I think that Philip sounds dodgy because he sounds like a 'professional listener'. He seems to worm secrets and deepest thoughts out of various people but doesn't really give much in return. So, for example, if Alistair is talking about divorce then Philip will give out a 'I understand, I've been there' response but no more detail than that. His voice is too level too, not much in the way of dynamics, no emotion.
He's too detached.
