Thanks to all for the dog ideas, and special mention to Ppeatfruit.

I am informed that there is a market for the sale of Ritalin amongst sixth formers.

Moleskinediary · 05/06/2018 21:43

Freddie had to retake GCSEs, so in the real world he would not be accessing full A level offer at the same time as his sibling. So he may be doing a reduced offer (2 A levels which may not secure Uni) or he may be doing a L2 Btec (which it seems he isnt)

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 05/06/2018 21:59

I enjoyed Tom picking up on Pip’s moaning about Josh tonight, she never misses a chance to criticise.

Bekabeech · 05/06/2018 23:51

Umm not quite true about the reduced offer. My DS was able to start 3 A'levels despite not having the grade in English (actually he started 4! as one was further Maths).

At a post 16 college in the past 2 years? The funding and accountability change plus the need to retake GCSE to secure funding for the college has impacted on this nationally.

Gruach · 06/06/2018 06:13

I had wondered about Freddie and retakes and proceeding to A’ levels. And I’m only aware of his taking two.

Thinking about it - there isn’t really any reason why the story requires him to go to university. He doesn’t like studying, (unless drug assisted). He has an embarrassment of other options. It would be more interesting to continue the contrast with his hard working, highly academic, never puts a foot wrong sister ...

Hmm
CeciledeVolanges · 06/06/2018 11:12

After sustained consideration, I have concluded that the contents of the box are likely to be Kathy Perks. It would explain a lot.

AuntyElle · 06/06/2018 11:38

CeciledeVolanges, Smile Her ashes?

HatingTheBigShow · 06/06/2018 19:28

I don't understand Shula at all. Hasn't she spent the last week or so demonstrably regretting her rash decision?

cheminotte · 06/06/2018 20:54

Would they be heavy though Cecile ?

YouStacey · 06/06/2018 21:14

Who does Lizzy think is gay? Freddy or Lily? I assume that wa the reason for her questions to Jenny.

MikeUniformMike · 06/06/2018 21:16

Lily. Lizzie thinks that Lily and 'Meredith' (who probably doesn't exist) are an item.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/06/2018 21:25

But after that conversation, Jenny will think she (Lizzy) thinks Freddy is gay.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/06/2018 21:27

With Hilarious Consequences, no doubt.

Jenny will tell Adam. Adam will attempt to have an encouraging heart to heart with

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/06/2018 21:27

... Freddy

I can't bear it. And of course the actual mother in Ambridge of an actual lesbian (Carole Tregorran) has gone awol; possibly somehow, inexplicably she got herself locked in with Ben in the cereal cupboard.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/06/2018 21:35

There was a silent lesbian couple at one stage, I think. I vaguely remember Jazer sniggering about them.

BoreOfWhabylon · 06/06/2018 21:36

Jazzer. Sorry ipad is being v difficult this evening

MikeUniformMike · 06/06/2018 23:35

In true Ambridge style, the cereal cupboard can expand and contract as required. That's where the disappearing bedroom went.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/06/2018 07:39

I hate to ask this question but when is Pip's baby due? She's been blissfully quiet lately. As have both the Fairbrethren.

DadDadDad · 07/06/2018 07:55

I believe we fixed on 1st August as Pip's due date, based on available evidence.

Bibesia · 07/06/2018 07:58

8 weeks, according to what she was saying the other day.

I too really enjoyed hearing Tom put her down when she was bitching about Josh. Maybe the SWs are finally getting it that it's totally implausible that everyone in Ambridge apart from Josh thinks she's a living saint.

LillianGish · 07/06/2018 08:13

Cecile Grin though now I’m wondering if Carole Tregorran might not be in there as well.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/06/2018 08:44

And Anisha

R4 · 07/06/2018 10:08

It's funny how we hear things differently. I didn't hear it as a personal attack on Pip or, alternatively, sticking up for Josh. I heard it as Pip had said the wrong thing twice - prattling on about how unlucky she was to have a healthy, kicking baby and then mentioning Hannah's love-life (that doesn't involve Tom) - and that put Tom in a bad mood, even more so because he couldn't say anything. Instead of addressing the issue he deflected elsewhere i.e. talked up Josh's business model (not least because Josh is a mini-me of old Tom).
Pip laughed it off as 'got out of bed the wrong side' instead of realising that she was the root of his disquiet. Cos she's perceptive and empathetic like that.
