Brian is over a barrel, Alice has drained the barrel and Shula has given it to Alistair with both barrels - The Archers is not exactly a barrel of laughs at the moment.

Thanks to @LillianGish for the thread title.

I don't remember anything about Hannah...

ppeatfruit · 27/04/2018 09:18

I really think that Jazzer is a confirmed bachelor, he shouldn't even settle down with someone, there's no heart of gold the way he objectifiesf women where his womanising is concerned.

Eastie77 · 27/04/2018 10:53

Doubt there will be a rekindling of anything between Em n Will. There was no passion between them to begin with and she didn't love/like him when they were actually married so not sure what there would be to 'rekindle'.

Butteredparsn1ps · 27/04/2018 13:38

Bore Jazzer did suggest that Alistair needs to get out there...

Gruach · 27/04/2018 13:44

I rather think that Hannah may be intended for Tom.

But then what would be the point of all the foreshadowing they did with Jazzer expostulating about coupledom?

(She does seem a little out of his league. But I want him to be happy and cared for.)

LillianGish · 27/04/2018 14:23

to me a marriage shouldn't be contingent on love or excitement or wanting something else. It is its own thing, and when you choose to commit to it, well, you choose to commit to it! Not just to you Cecile. I do think Shula needs to make an effort. I could have understood her leaving after the gambling, but this just feel so feeble. Equally the fact that she's suggesting they continue to co-habit - she really thinks she can do this and nothing will changed. I know it happens, but honestly she can't even be arsed to organise a proper split no wonder she can't be bothered to make an effort with the marriage itself. I really hope Alistair will meet someone else, marry them and go on to have a family with them (exactly what happened to a friend of mine in these circumstances) - I think that would definitely focus Shula's mind. She doesn't want him, but you can be sure as hell she won't want anyone else to have him either.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/04/2018 14:43

Well, I hope Alistair meets someone and takes her back for the night, for Smuggs to bump into in the bathroom next morning Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/04/2018 17:14

On a completely unrelated topic-

At the time of Nic's death there was a lot of discussion on these threads and elsewhere about sepsis. I asked MNHQ if they could organise a webchat with an expert and they've done just that!

GnotherGnu · 27/04/2018 17:43

I hope the issue of Matt being squashed isn't going to be quietly forgotten. After all, Joe and Emma know at least some of it.

LillianGish · 27/04/2018 18:30

I hope it is going to be forgotten. He didn't die and we know who did it (I secretly suspect the culprit was selected with the express purpose that it can now be forgotten).

Fink · 27/04/2018 19:40

So until now Jake had not only been sharing a bedroom part time but didn't even have a space to do his homework?! No wonder he's having a bit of a rebellion now!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 27/04/2018 20:51

Yes and William has only just noticed that the home left something to be desired.

I'm stunned that he would expect Jake and Mia to consider his place their primary residence, especially as he expects to be working son enough.

It's Poppy I feel for. All the other children have other parents to support them.

CillaBlackFanOnIce · 27/04/2018 21:16

Did anyone else notice Brian quoting the thread title at the end of tonight's episode?!

I do wish Will would be gracious and let Jake live with his dad without a fight. I don't know much about Jake's relationship with Andrew but I'm fairly certain I'd want to live with my real dad over my step dad, especially given all the Grundy dynamics.

SpecialCategoryData · 27/04/2018 22:29

Did anyone else notice the other night, when Dan was saying his gran had updated him on everyone: Pip blooming, Josh selling/buying tractor, Frilly being examined.... no mention of the cereal cupboard kid 😳. Even gran has forgotten him...

echt · 27/04/2018 22:35

I couldn't agree more, in reasonable world, but the SWs are a wacky bunch.:o

Bekabeech · 27/04/2018 23:26

I could see Will maybe making a pass at Emma but I can't see her responding. But I hope not.

I can see Shula and Alastair getting messy, maybe drunkenly accidentally having sex and then regretting it.

GnotherGnu · 28/04/2018 09:33

The reason I don't want the Matt issue to fizzle out is, essentially, that it would be annoying. They've spent all that time setting up the fact that Joe and subsequently Emma know, and it all becomes pointless if they're both going to develop amnesia.

Mootsie · 28/04/2018 09:39

How much compassionate leave is Will entitled to? I can't remember when Nic died but surely he must be due to go back full time now? He has loads of support from his family including two women waiting on him hand and foot. He needs to put food on the table, not shelves in an alcove.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 28/04/2018 10:18

Will is working, but part time.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 28/04/2018 10:18

So what is Brian selling?

CeciledeVolanges · 28/04/2018 12:45

Thank you, Lillian - I agree with you completely.

anappleadaykeeps · 28/04/2018 12:47

I may have totally misunderstood, but didn't anyone else worry Will might be about to commit suicide, when he calmly told Clarrie everything was sorted (re keeping the cottage but still working part time), but it clearly wasn't. He sounded eerily calm, versus the Will earlier in the episode?
I really hope I'm wrong.

ppeatfruit · 28/04/2018 14:31

anappleaday My interpretation was that Will was thinking the worst; that he might be sent to prison, because he covered up hadn't allowed Nick to report the Matt accident.

OuaisMaisBon · 28/04/2018 15:01

Having bought the farm in the Seventies, I think Brian is now selling it, ADarkandStormyKnight.

The thought of Will committing suicide did briefly occur to me, anappleadaykeeps, but I'm not in the least bit worried about it, except in relation to plot recycling, as it would surely make a statistically abnormally high average of suicides amongst Ambridge gamekeepers?

ppeatfruit · 28/04/2018 15:20

Yes (were we supposed to think that?) I was also thinking the same QaisMais But it wouldn't be good time to sell would it? Where would they go? maybe he's just thinking of selling the land but that really would be difficult to get a competitive price for !
