We never thought we’d feel sorry for Will. Although of course it should have been Pip! Discuss The Archers here (Titled edited by MNHQ)

Welcome all! I was really touched by the potential for Ed and Will to reconcile. But wonder if Will can accept Ed’s support.

As ever, no spoilers here (there’s a thread for that) - discussion permitted as soon as the pm episode is broadcast.

The dairy isn't on the farm then?

R4 · 18/03/2018 14:00

No, they got out of dairy. They use bought-in milk now.

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2018 14:04

I know that, they knocked down the building did they.?

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2018 14:06

She works in the Farm Shop too, which is on the Farm.

dairyfarmerswife · 18/03/2018 14:13

And she might also be a trapeze artist at weekends.

I'm sure the Ambridge residents have all sorts of hobbies we know nothing about, perhaps Susan is into Zumba, or Harrison goes to the gym after his shift Grin

The point is that we don't know who does those jobs at Bridge Farm, or indeed Brookfield and Home Farm. It very well could be Helen - perhaps she has taken it on from Pat since moving back in?

I’d find it a bit strange if experienced stockman Tony asked Helen to do the paperwork for his herd

IME stockmen are just that - they like working with stock. They don't much like applying for passports, recording movements or filling in medicine records.

R4 · 18/03/2018 14:34

Brookfield often mention invoices, animal passports and other such paperwork. Brine is often in his office and knows crop yields and returns on investment etc. It's only Bridge Farm which seems to be a paperwork-free zone. Oh, and the Grundys ... but that goes without saying.

Wouldn't Bridge Farm have more than the usual paperwork - to prove their organic credentials?

I think that they are buying in organic milk.
The farm shop is still going - remember Susan and her efforts with the kefir.
It's about time Helen had a stocktake. It used to be a fairly common occurrence but we haven't had one in ages.

LillianGish · 18/03/2018 17:07

Helen runs the shop surely (Knob tried to usurp her, but now she’s back) and cheesemaking is a sideline. She was going to do the scholarship thing with organic baby foods, but now Tom has taken over with the kefir and she has had a small input. I think she does quite a lot of stuff - maybe not on the farm itself, but in the business of Bridge Farm as a whole.

Yes I liked that conversation between Will and Shula. Seemed very natural to me. I remember how nice it was to talk to someone who'd been through the same thing in the early grieving process.

Limer · 18/03/2018 19:33

Borsetshire Blue, Sterling Gold and Sterling Silver are the three cheeses I think?

Brilliant thread as always, just caught up with the past week’s events.

R4 · 18/03/2018 19:44

I thought Susan was asking customers in the cafe and that’s why Emma got annoyed with her?

Yes, but Susan also did those information boards in the shop. It would be pretty poor show if Bridge Farm Kefir's main stockist wasn't Bridge Farm Farm Shop!
Of course nobody stocks it now and Tom seems to have gone quiet on his kimchee, too.

RubyLennoxExists · 18/03/2018 19:48

I think the SWs have done an excellent job of portraying the aftermath of Nic's death. And I liked that Shula got something right. I'm pleased too that all four children are going to the funeral - excluding them would not have helped them deal with their bereavement and could have actively impeded the process Sad

Is anyone else finding the constant promotion of Sport Relief very annoying?

Yes, that is very annoying

BertrandRussell · 18/03/2018 21:01

And the constant hammering home of the difference between Fallon and Harrison being all young and fresh and happy and Shula and Alastair being all old and dull is very clunky.

And why have we suddenly gone all innuendo crazy? It’s very tedious indeed.
