Does anyone have any recommendations for brilliant podcasts?

I'm interested in the unexplained and true crime, but would also be open to other suggestions 😊

So far I've listened and enjoyed Serial, Into The Dark and Casefile. I use the Stitcher app.

Thanks!

My Dad Wrote a Porno is absolutely hilarious. Revisionist History is also really good, as is Unexplained.

FireandBrimstone · 16/01/2018 22:42

S-Town!

Synecdoche · 16/01/2018 22:46

Thank you both I shall look them up.

Lion I've heard a lot about My Dad Wrote a Porno - might be needed some light relief as well after all this true crime!

Thinking Sideways

Yourownworstenemy · 19/01/2018 21:33

Thinking sideways and sword and scale are good, also my favourite murder and true crime garage and they walk amongst us for more crime orientated once.

There's stuff you should know as well that are interesting

Yourownworstenemy · 19/01/2018 21:34

Oh and generation why is great too!

dimples76 · 19/01/2018 21:40

On Radio 5 Live - Beyond Reasonable Doubt

tobee · 19/01/2018 22:21

I've listened to Serial one and saving up serial 2. I've googled "podcasts as good as serial" but the recommendations have been a bit disappointing. What's really good like the?

tobee · 19/01/2018 22:21

Like that I meant

pontiouspilates · 19/01/2018 22:25

MDWAP first two series are hilarious but it gets pretty old pretty quickly after that. I enjoyed both Serials (first was far superior) and S-Town was good. I enjoy Radio 4's 'A Good Read' Womans Hour and Desert Island Discs

Synecdoche · 19/01/2018 23:33

Great thanks all!

Have tried a couple of They Walk Among Us and enjoying so far.

pontious Crikey I can well imagine... I'm only on Ep2!!

Also 'The Adoption' which was on R4. There's a thread about it here: The Adoption

LOVED Serial and S-town - apparently a new one due soon from the same team ( a colleague told me).
'Six degrees of assassination' ( Audible)was quite good - a bit cliched but Andrew Scott's voice makes up for everything.
Currently hooked on West Cork (Audible) - fab, fab.fab - like Serial but better.
Have lined up 'That was then' (BBC) for when I finish WC sometime this weekend.
Then looking for something new!

RockNRollNerd · 09/03/2018 10:32

If you're a West Wing fan then the West Wing Weekly is very good, although it took a bit of getting into as Joshua Malina irritates me a bit. They're over half way through now so lots to catch up on if you like it. Great guest stars every week though, not just the cast but activists and politicians who can be fascinating talking about the 'real world' behind the plots/politics.

For satire I like the Bugle and it's settling down nicely with the guest hosts although Little Johnny Showbiz can never really be replaced.

Destinysdaughter · 09/03/2018 10:38

'You must remember this podcast' about forgotten Hollywood is v good, especially the ones about the Manson Family. And there's 12 episodes of this!

PrivateParkin · 09/03/2018 10:47

Punt PI is good if you like the unexplained. Steve Punt for around investigating unsolved/mysterious incidents. It's not a podcast as such but it's on the radio iPlayer. I like This American Life as well.

PrivateParkin · 09/03/2018 11:14

Also, Empty Frames looks good, I've just subscribed although haven't actually listened to it yet. It's about an art heist.

MrsJackRackham · 10/03/2018 22:19

Stuff You Missed in History Class is really good, their research is excellent. Random and wide ranging topics from Calamity Jane to cheese to Jane Austin!!
History Extra Podcast is an extension of the BBC magazine.
