Happy New Year to you all.

OP posts:
StubbleTurnips · 04/01/2017 05:11

Found you all again.... rather behind on listening due to Turnip2s arrival over Christmas.

Off to catch up.

DoctorTwo · 04/01/2017 05:53

Congratulations Turnips.

Eastpoint · 04/01/2017 06:57

Thank you for the new thread Pseudo.

I presume the Buttons wrote 'wanker' on Rob's car, it has a good ring to it unlike domestic abuser or rapist.

ppeatfruit · 04/01/2017 06:57

Add some more BOOPs for Adam's taunting of Rob, fab, and of course for the Button girls who would have scrawled RAPIST on the car , they wouldn't have had time for sentence construction!

ppeatfruit · 04/01/2017 06:58

I hope it was in indelible lipstick Grin

Re Henry and Knob - after the court ruling banning Knob from having contact with Henry I don't understand why Helen hasn't been keeping a list and evidence (the card and Xmas presents) of every time Knob breaks the court order. I also don't understand why she doesn't start trying to explain to Henry why he doesn't see Knob anymore - when mummy was away for a long time that was because Knob didn't want her to see Henry and he didn't want granny and grandad to see Henry either, in fact if it had been up to Knob Henry would never have seen any of them again. In fact Knob's not a very nice person, he used to hurt mummy etc etc She needs to unpick all the work she did fashioning Knob into the perfect dad for Henry. I have only to think of the rabbit in the bin, nobody likes a noisy boy and the plot to pack Henry off to boarding school at the first opportunity to think that Helen needs to get on with this asap.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/01/2017 07:46

You know you're a wrong 'un when silent characters turn on you.

Xmas Grin

Re Henry's party - it's a long, long time since my children were little but the scars are still there. If Attila the Hun had invited them to a soft play party at the end of any school holiday, I would have accepted on the spot. Henry's birthday is good timing from that point of view.

TheAntiBoop · 04/01/2017 08:34

On the plus side, PiRex can't happen now because he must think she's a fucking idiot (more so when he finds out about the money) and she will consider he has betrayed her by not divulging the Brighton info

LeninaCrowne · 04/01/2017 09:06

I can't see the point of Tobee and Rex - hope the new editor writes them out.
Are they there to pull in a younger listener demographic?

selsigfach · 04/01/2017 09:07

I loved Adam taunting Rob last night - he must have been getting tips from Debbie. Rob has always inexplicably had the upper hand over Adam before.

Vango · 04/01/2017 09:07

I'm with you Antiboop. I don't think Toby's ever really been into Pip. He can take or leave her so won't be too wounded when the inevitable happens. His main concern will be where to live next, though no doubt Kate will take pity on a kindred spirit and offer him a yurt.

Re. the early Brighton comments from Rex, I think Toby has a history of loving and leaving his girlfriends, which is why Rex was fearful for Pip. Toby may have previously moved in on someone Rex was interested. Doesn't rule out my pregnant girlfriend theory (wads of cash required for deposit on a flat/baby stuff/clothes to fit a growing belly etc.)

Vango · 04/01/2017 09:19

And I reckon Pip's £5k will never be used for its intended purpose!

Congratulations Turnips 💐

TheMortificadosDragon · 04/01/2017 09:31

The party episode demolished Rob's ability to needle Adam about his relationships and sexually, so the boot is on the other foot now. Unless Rob really does have a point about the leys and Estate work - but hopefully will be too obviously a vendetta against Adam.

TheMortificadosDragon · 04/01/2017 09:31

*sexuality, obv.

SingingAvocado · 04/01/2017 09:47

Congratulations on the new baby, Turnips Flowers

Megatherium · 04/01/2017 10:00

I do hope that when Rob puts the tendering idea proposal forward Brian is ready to tear him into little pieces. It makes no business sense whatsoever to keep chopping and changing, and all he has to do is point out that going for a cheaper bidder didn't turn out too well previously.

Gumpendorf · 04/01/2017 10:11

I've no idea why Toby goes to Brighton. Unless it's a former partner and child, it seems weird. I suspect, as someone said earlier, the SW sent him to Brighton because it has more interesting connotations than say, Birmingham. The detail hasn't been filled in yet and maybe never will

I assumed the Button girls had written 'rapist'. Rob talked about clearing his name and Kirsty said it was accurate. Wanker is an unspecific insult and domestic abuser too cumbersome.

TheAntiBoop · 04/01/2017 10:22

I can't imagine they took the time to write anything more detailed and graffiti like that only works if it is short and quickly read

If Toby is a love em and leave em type I'm sure Rex would have made some snidely comments to pip

However annoying Jill despite e her desire to stick two fingers up - pip has chosen to move in with someone she knows has no money and likely no potential to earn more than beer money. The only thing she seems to get out of it is sex and given the way she is portrayed as some sort of modern day Mata Hari I can't imagine she would struggle to replace him. So that makes her a first class fool.

redshoeblueshoe · 04/01/2017 10:39

I think Grauch's link to the Beeb shows that the SW's don't know what Toby gets up to in Brighton, and they are fishing for ideas Grin
This thread seems to be moving fast.

EBearhug · 04/01/2017 11:03

Wasn't Mata Hari a spy?
(My phone tried to correct that to Mata Haringey.)

ppeatfruit · 04/01/2017 11:54

Yes Ebear , she used her 'feminine wiles' to 'screw' information out of the enemy Grin

trevortrevorslattery · 04/01/2017 13:04

Congrats stubbleturnips Flowers

GypsyFl0ss · 04/01/2017 13:08

Many congratulations on the new arrival Turnips.

JessieMcJessie · 04/01/2017 13:14

Congrats Turnips. Junior McJessie is 4 months old now and still disappointingly fails to react to the Archers music despite my pinning the radio to my tummy daily while he was in utero. I hope for better from Young Turnip 2. Smile

2rebecca · 04/01/2017 14:06

I agree that Helen should sit down with Henry now he is supposed to be 6 or 7 (did they say which birthday it was?) and explain that she hurt Rob because he had been being nasty to her and lying to her and stopping her seeing people. She could remind him of the time Rob didn't wake her up to let her see Henry open his presents last Christmas and wouldn't let her go to Pat and Tony's with Rob and Henry but made her stay at home.
She could tell Henry that the judge had said that Rob wasn't to have contact with Henry and that Rob isn't actually Henry's daddy.
It is unbelievable that no-one has discussed this.
I wouldn't have thrown out the card but sent it to a solicitor or returned it to him at the contact centre.
