R4 · 09/12/2016 18:51

Is there a non-FB way to keep up with Academic Archers?

DeepanKrispanEven · 09/12/2016 19:18

When did Pip add cookery to her never-ending list of talents? This is the person who a couple of weeks ago didn't know how much pasta to use for two people.

Gruach · 09/12/2016 19:20

Indeed.

I suppose we are to hope that Jill and Tobes will bond over the Aga?

Minimammoth · 09/12/2016 19:30

Blatant Place marking, need a big catch up

mummytime · 09/12/2016 20:18

Academic Archers: you can sometimes get info in Cara's blog: www.caracourage.net/blog/tl4tnl7e362dpbexjenga7ycmghrmg

JennyWoodentop · 09/12/2016 21:32

When did Pip add cookery to her never-ending list of talents?

wasn't there an episode when Pip cooked supper for Ruth, and Ruth was swooning and in raptures about the marvelous tuna bake or something? Everyone on here was scratching their heads thinking that was bog standard student fare.

(not to be confused with tuna bake for Rob obviously)

Imbroglio · 09/12/2016 21:38

Pip has literally never cooked. Ever.

LillianGish · 09/12/2016 21:46

Is it just me - I can't catch up. Just keep hearing yesterday's episode.

TheMortificadosDragon · 09/12/2016 22:09

I use the podcast, Lillian, just listened to todays on there.

I'm a bit surprised by Brian putting so much faith in the opinion of his accountant, and calling him his 'financial advisor' - I've always thought these were distinctly different roles.

TheAntiBoop · 09/12/2016 22:11

Pip Has the ego to go on the apprentice.

The dopey a are like the parents on britains got talent who can't bear to tell their little angel that they are terrible!

You need a firearms certificate before you can buy or keep a shot gun or ammunition. . The application is submitted to the relevant police officer in the district. The application has to be countersigned by some one (or perhaps 2 can't remember) who has known you for 12 months (or might be 24) and who is of good standing. I've signed a few and in every case the police contacted me to verify it was genuine (unlike the Passport Office which has never checked anything I've counter signed)

The gun must be kept in a secure locked cabinet and ammunition must be kept separately.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 09/12/2016 23:02

Adam is just going to keel over some day isn't he? It's just too much effort.

Why are we getting so much Tube and Pipsqueak?

DeepanKrispanEven · 09/12/2016 23:09

I also didn't get why Pip suddenly decided that the whole family were being beastly to Toby purely on the basis of what Jill said. Ruth and David have shown that they're prepared to make the effort even if they're not wild about him, though admittedly there's no realistic way they can make Jill shut up.

Actually, I just had a thought. Maybe Pip realised that, if it's Jill cooking the Christmas dinner, she might not be able to resist the temptation to slip a powerful laxative or two into Toby's portion?

Wow. Felicity Jones has really hit the big time! I hadn't realised, until Graham Norton just said that she was on the show next week, that she is in the latest Star Wars effort.
Having said that, I have warmed to her replacement (Emerald O'Hanrahan) in recent years. She is one of the successful actor-transplants and she & Susan work really well together.

GypsyFl0ss · 10/12/2016 06:02

She was on the One Show R4 can't believe I'm admitting to watching that recently with Tom Hanks promoting the latest Dan Browne film and was very charming, as indeed was he.

GypsyFl0ss · 10/12/2016 06:05

And back in the safe world of radio 4 I'm sure I heard them muttering on Today about the potential for interest rates to go right back up to double figures. The article was about how a generation of house owners have never known that. Surely Brian's memory isn't so short? But he keeps banging on about how interest rates are so low...

mummytime · 10/12/2016 06:47

I don't think this land buying will go ahead.
Either Brian will die/have another heart attack etc. Or will be so opposed by the family that he has to change his mind. Maybe we will even hear from Debbie, what is Tamsin's schedule like? Maybe even Rauiri?
I wonder if Lillian will come across something/overhear something which reveals Justin's true motives? I also think Justin's genial mask might slip if/when Brian says he isn't buying the land.

ppeatfruit · 10/12/2016 08:15

Imbroglio either you don't listen to TA very much or you're havin' a larf. But recently Pip has been cooking in Rickyard Cottage, admittedly it's only pasta and it's been for Tobes but it has been done more than once actually Xmas Confused

Imbroglio · 10/12/2016 08:30

I do listen regularly but I was properly pissed off at her for putting Ruth's cooking down to Toby. I also don't get the impression she did much around the house at brookfield - they always had Emma and Jill to do the cleaning and cooking.

DadDadDad · 10/12/2016 08:32

I don't know what kind of loan you would get to buy agricultural land, but it must be possible to do it on a fixed rate, so Brian would not need to worry about future interest rate rises.

dairyfarmerswife · 10/12/2016 09:16

I don't know what kind of loan you would get to buy agricultural land, but it must be possible to do it on a fixed rate, so Brian would not need to worry about future interest rate rises.

The Agricultural Mortgage corporation (AMC) do loans for buying farmland, equipment and stock. It is indeed possible to fix - we have one fixed for 25 years. The rate is slightly higher than interest rates were when we fixed but the punt is that rates will be higher in the future, and we gave certainty on the repayments.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 10/12/2016 09:30

Pip was struggling to work out how much pasta to cook for 2 people only a few weeks ago. Didn't she have to phone someone to ask ?
