Ho ho ho! Will this thread last until Christmas?

Perhaps Kirsty will call the baby Robert or Roberta. After all, it's indirectly down to Knob that the baby was conceived in the first place.

We're now going to have months if not years of Pat faffing about Tom making an honest woman of Kirsty to ensure that the Archer Grandchild is kept firmly in the family, aren't we?

EBearhug · 31/12/2016 00:59

I'm not sure how long Pip & Toby will endure anyway. I think Pip's already starting to recognise that he's unreliable and selfish, with no consideration of the consequences of his actions on others, and I don't think she's at all happy about not knowing what's going on in Brighton. But her pride and stubbornness and desire to be in a relationship (regardless of what she was saying to Alice back in the summer at the party,) and wanting not to prove her family right means she'll stick with him longer than she otherwise would.

Also:
'Turkey fricassée' - giggle. Archers gives good comedy food names (yes I know it's real but still I giggle)

It must have been a really enormous turkey, with the number of people they must be feeding, if they have been serving it up every day since Christmas.

NobodyputsBabyinaKorma · 31/12/2016 09:34

Going against the grain here but I was really pleased that Ruth spoke to Jill about the atmosphere she's creating. And I thought she was very restrained. It's not fair that a mother couldn't spend Christmas with her daughter because of her MIL's dislike of the boyfriend.

I also don't agree that Jill is an octenagarian slave; she exists to be needed and useful and her role at Brookfield fulfils that need.

BertrandRussell · 31/12/2016 09:46

So pissed off about the Kirsty baby thing. She's a sensible mature adult who would be in charge of the own fertility....
TASWAMA.

Gruach · 31/12/2016 09:51

Hate to disagree Bert - but Kirsty's got exactly what she must have wanted forever.Xmas Grin

Gruach · 31/12/2016 09:53

We need to hear from Brenda right now though ...

(Please let this be the year of her return.)

BertrandRussell · 31/12/2016 09:56

Blimey- i'd forgotten all about Brenda!

Do you think Kirsty engineered it all, then?

JigglyTuff · 31/12/2016 09:56

Nobody - you may have had a point except that this is the family that was so important to Ruth that she decided to piss off thousands of miles away last year at Xmas Hmm

Gruach · 31/12/2016 10:07

Not engineered exactly ... But in her (ridiculously incomprehensible in RL) situation I doubt she could imagine any other father for her child. She's so embedded in that family already.

Northernlurker · 31/12/2016 10:08

We've no reason to think she didn't try the morning after pill. It really isn't very effective, especially mid cycle. I'm not remotely surprised they were without condom. Neither was exactly expecting to have sex that day.

BertrandRussell · 31/12/2016 10:11

But a mature sensible woman like Kirsty just wouldn't have unprotected sex.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 31/12/2016 10:18

Give over bertrand (lighthearted) . Mature sensible women like Kirsty have unprotected sex quite enough to get them pregnant. Especially when in their thirties. Getting pregnant 'accidentally' is much more complicated than that - when you've spent your adult life avoiding it because that's the norm, and then you get to your thirties and suddenly 'tick tick' that can be really confusing

Gruach · 31/12/2016 10:18

With the lost love of her life?

With whom she had expected to spend the rest of her life - and raise a family?

Why ever not?

BeaLola · 31/12/2016 10:20

Well timed baby as of course Tom won the grant for organic baby food - he will have 2 babies now as his focus group - little Jack/Gideon and soon to be Chipolota/mini banger Son

IAmNotAUserNumber · 31/12/2016 10:26

I found last nights announcement quite moving - I always associate Christmas with being newly pregnant anyway.
I think Kirsty is completely in control of her own body. She's made the decision whether to keep the baby entirely her own, and has made plans to have the baby without recourse to Tom.

LeninaCrowne · 31/12/2016 10:33

Bore I like Chipolata Grin.

Or how about Salchicha shortened to Sally.

NobodyputsBabyinaKorma · 31/12/2016 10:44

Jiggly - to be fair to Ruth (and that's not something I find easy to do!) she did have a spectacularly crap year before legging it to NZ. All the more reason to want this Xmas to be lovely and not have her MIL be so unreasonable.

Timetogetup0630 · 31/12/2016 10:56

I missed out ! When did Tom and Kirsty actually "Do it" ?????

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/12/2016 11:15

On the night Helen came home after the Not Guilty verdict, I think. So September some time.

ppeatfruit · 31/12/2016 11:45

But Ruth is forgetting that Jill is getting on more than a bit. She could've been kinder.

So now KirstTom will have a secret wedding won't they? Grin

R4 · 31/12/2016 12:03

It would be interesting if the SW killed off Jill, suddenly, so Ruth and Pip are left with the guilt of never having made up with her. Especially when if Jill is proved right and the relationship with Tobes goes sour.

EBearhug · 31/12/2016 12:06

I suspect they won't kill off Jill until Patricia can't-remember-her-surname decides to retire.

JigglyTuff · 31/12/2016 12:06

Oh I know she had a crap year. But this is all so manufactured. Pip could have popped round for presents if she'd felt like it. And why are the Dopeys making such an effort with the illegal still-building, chicken-killing cocklodger anyway? She's chosen a shit boyfriend. I wouldn't want him over my threshold either frankly. And Jill was perfectly within her rights to say she didn't want him at her birthday party - it was her party, it's up to her who comes.

I just hate the way they fawn over Pip like she's the next Messiah when she's so spectacularly selfish. Plus those 'honeyed' tones she does really get on my tits Grin
