If Lilian has any sense she'll just tell Justin that Rob is on to them asap.

EBearhug · 22/11/2016 19:14

Trouble is, if she says something to Justin and he says something to Rob, Rob will deny he was talking about them having an affair, as he didn't know - and Justin would have just confirmed it.

Rob knows what he is doing.

EBearhug · 22/11/2016 19:15

Oh, FFS, Alan. You're not dealing with a reasonable person.

R4 · 22/11/2016 19:21

At least Alan was challenging Rob's behaviour; no-one else ever seems to do it.

Alan: you have to try, Rob.

Oh for gawd's sake. Why is a woman of Lillian's sang-froid - who must have anticipated her relationship with Justin being noted in the fish-bowl that is Ambridge, and who knows Rob will be furious with her - perpetually wrong-footed by this turd in human form? A breezy, "Oh thank you, I'd be sorry to lose that one. Off you go now, Rob - or Titch, as I hear the cricket team used to call you..." tinkly laugh, wave of manicured hand, turn on elegant heel would have been character-appropriate and much more satisfying. Why can't she simply put him down? Irritated again.

BertrandRussell · 22/11/2016 20:07

Lillian is not behaving like a sensible, mature woman of the world because TASWAMA

Cromwell1536 · 22/11/2016 20:26

sorry Bertrand but you're going to have to enlighten me on the MA at the end...

echt · 22/11/2016 20:30

Mysoginistic arseholes?

Cromwell1536 · 22/11/2016 20:33

Ah, yes. Makes sense!

Fink · 22/11/2016 20:34

I hope we all noticed the venom in Rob's voice as he mentioned 'that woman doctor', because of course the doctor's gender is relevant here dear. And apparently her report was written entirely at the dictation of Helen. I'm surprised Alan didn't at least challenge that.

TeenAndTween · 22/11/2016 20:51

re contact. It isn't good for young babies to spend ages in a car going to and from contact, so maybe contact nearby with Tony overseeing is better than contact at a contact centre some drive away.

Trouble is, if she says something to Justin and he says something to Rob, Rob will deny he was talking about them having an affair, as he didn't know - and Justin would have just confirmed it.

If Justin has any sense, he'll send Rob off to Scotland, and bring Charlie back. Or better still, tell him that he doesn't employ blackmailers and he really doesn't care if Rob spills the beans.

glowfrog · 22/11/2016 22:03

At the very least Lillian could say to Justin, "see, this is the kind of man he is, hope you're happy."

I think Justin could confront Rob without confirming anything. Something along the lines of, "I don't appreciate an employee going around making insinuations like that, and if I hear gossip about this, I will hold you personally responsible."

WouldHave · 22/11/2016 22:06

Yes, Lillian needs to think a bit and realise that Rob really can't spill the beans without losing his job. She should call his bluff.

R4 · 22/11/2016 22:18

Is it another compare and contrast? Rob uses secrets and misdemeanours for nefarious purposes (blackmail) but Lynda uses them for good (the panto).

enochroot · 22/11/2016 22:21

But Justin might see a talent for blackmail as a positive asset for the task he seems to have in mind for Rob.

Vango · 22/11/2016 22:30

Re. TASWAMA. I can't see much evidence that they particularly like men at the moment! We have Justin reverting to his dastardly original self, Toby's unremitting selfishness, Brian being obstinate, Adam whining, feckless Kenton splashing cash he can ill-afford and Roy discovering that women aren't overly keen on men who cheat on their wives. And of course Rob.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2016 22:58

Implausible that Rob would have chosen to discuss the report with Alan, though dramatically necessary as there wasn't anyone else - except maybe Ursula, which would have been meh. I have a feeling that Alan's call for Rob to try to change things will be followed in some extremely unpleasant way.

ColdTeaAgain · 22/11/2016 23:01

Really hope the scene with Alan wasn't signposting that he'll help Rob reform himself. That has worrying conitations of him being in TA for years and years and everyone forgetting what he was like. I just want him to fuck off to prison! A Rob-free 2017 please. no chance

Was interesting how Rob said "my boys", whereas Alan just said "parent to Jack", not acknowledging that Rob views himself as a father of two.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/11/2016 23:08

Alan may try to reform Rob for as long as he's around, but he won't be able to.

Vango · 22/11/2016 23:16

Cold Rob also said "moving on means gaining full access to my son". Didn't mention poor Henry.

WouldHave · 22/11/2016 23:38

I don't get why Rob was talking to Alan about the report. He plainly didn't want spiritual solace, and he can't seriously thought Alan could do anything about it. Why would he want to publish the psychologist's conclusions, even if he does think they'r wrong. Is it just that the SWs are getting short of people Rob might actually talk to?
