David Mitchell, Comedian?

I enjoyed Peep Show. I like Robert Webb, and I think the latter has a kindness about him. I am finding David Mitchell ubiquitous. More and more I find him unattractive, sweary and laddish, and it has put me off hearing his voice. Am I alone?

He's getting a bit up himself and almost too big for his boots.

I saw him on hignfy Friday night and he was trying to be funnier than the panelists which was awkward.

He's almost become a characature of himself.

Lottapianos · 02/11/2016 20:27

I like him a lot and enjoyed him on HIGNFY on Friday. I don't watch any of his usual panel shows so haven't seen that much of him lately

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/11/2016 20:30

I love him. Love love love him.

Bejazzled · 02/11/2016 20:35

love him. Love love love him.
Aye ok Victoria 😉

I don't like it when he goes all champagne socialist but apart from that he can be funny.

AutumnLeavesAgain · 02/11/2016 20:36

No you are not alone.

Peep show was funny - clearly the scripts were key! Just googled and scriptwriters also worked on Fresh Meat which I loved.

AutumnLeavesAgain · 02/11/2016 20:38

The whole of BBC comedy is just not funny to me these days. Well apart from Morecambe and Wise on Radio4extra.

whataboutbob · 02/11/2016 21:40

He's always seemed quite cold and smug to me. But I think he and the BBC are in for the long haul so we might as well get used to him. I confess that when entertainers are around for long enough I usually end up liking them and I guess that's ll happen with him. I like miles jupp a it more.

whataboutbob · 02/11/2016 21:41

a lot more!

Mishaps · 02/11/2016 21:43

He has a quick wit - always worth a watch!

AmysTiara · 02/11/2016 21:47

I think he's brilliant. Love him.

rollonthesummer · 02/11/2016 21:50

Ooh, I think he's fab!

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 03/11/2016 03:19

Laddish? I struggle to imagine anyone less laddish than David Mitchell.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 03/11/2016 03:28

He used to be funny, clever and succinct but it's like in the past year or so he has tried to peel away a layer of his intellect to appeal more to the average man. I find him wearing and over exposed now, which is a shame.

PigletJohn · 06/11/2016 19:16

he knows he's got an irritating, whiny voice.

Vango · 06/11/2016 19:37

Adding my voice to the LOVE camp. Especially Would I Lie To You. Such a clever man.

Vango · 06/11/2016 19:41

Like Would I Lie To You (not a big Rob Brydon fan) but MEANT The Unbelievable Truth! Much better 😁.

YvaineStormhold · 06/11/2016 19:43

Twat.

SerendipityPhenomenon · 07/11/2016 07:58

Sweary? Laddish? Are you sure you've got the right person?

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2016 10:01

I'm in the LOVE LOVE LOVe camp mostly; he is great In Would I Lie to you. On R4 I reckon the script was letting him down on the Unbelievable Truth, they've reined him (or the script) in now ,, it was getting tedious .

ShowOfHands · 16/11/2016 10:03

I adore him. He's witty, intelligent, politically aware and passionate.

ppeatfruit · 16/11/2016 11:38

Yes Show I agree and it's nice to see a man who's a geek type not all 'gussied' up for the telly.

MrsBernardBlack · 06/12/2016 18:41

Can't stand him.
