Found this looking for something on iplayer to iron to. I loved this book in the 80s. Must reread it. Only 2 episodes so far on the 15 minute story area on radio 4 in drama.
Harder to follow than the book as they're covering the whole book in 2 hours but great to be reminded of the story again.

I caught this too, and really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed Winifred Holtby's The Crowded Street which was in the same slot. iPlayer is fantastic for getting through the ironing .
