Hopefully we can go back to an ordinary tale of country folk?

Spoilers are frowned upon.... There's a thread for that.

Somebody did mention the pub, said That thing with Emma in the Bull didn't help or something like.

TopazRocks · 02/10/2016 23:22

Susan acts well. Peggy too.

I think Rob is bloody furious, maybe even sightly 'mad', as he doesn't know how to handle things now, and he thinks it sooo unfair that everyone is misjudging him. I know it's not always plausible but it IS entertaining just now, and that is a good thing in my book. I wonder what is happening with Helen dallying over the divorce. That worries me.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2016 23:23

As to the actors, David Troughton is definitely a good actor but hes got to play moany Tony. He does well when he has the scope eg after the trial.

Some of them, eg shula, have inhabited their roles for so long that they are them.

TopazRocks · 02/10/2016 23:26

BTW was DocLoc involved with the cricket? Is village cricket not just a couple of hours in the afternoon? I suppose if things had gone Rob's way eh could have shown them all how to do it, won the match, and then dashed off to meet Myson. After moaning about the court treating him so unfairly.

TopazRocks · 02/10/2016 23:29

Yes, I've seen David T in other things and he is very good. He was less moany after the trial. I wondered too if he was trying to emulate OldTony when he first came - but I've almost forgotten Colin Skip's version now.

I'm off the LA before bed. Smile

TopazRocks · 02/10/2016 23:30

to listen, not the. grr Blush

ibrowze · 02/10/2016 23:36

Yes good point about his 3 hours with Gideack clashing with cricket and/or lurking around The Bull, and did Helen express milk for R to feed baby during her journey?

Which decade dies Kas live in? I'm sure Helen said she took photos of her kids and would print them out and send them. Are we talking about a camera rather than smartphone? If so wouldn't she want to show her friend the images on the digital display or did it use film? If so someone tell her Kodaks no longer around.

ibrowze · 02/10/2016 23:42

Do the editors read this thread and take notice, or just think we're a bunch of obsessed Archers addicts?

nippiesweetie · 02/10/2016 23:49

Can we have a Charivari? (Lynda's bound to know all about them). I'd love the whole village to descend on BHC banging their pots and pans.

SealSong · 02/10/2016 23:54

All we need now is for Justin to realise it's not going to do his public image any good in the local area to employ Rob and that will be the cherry on the top.

TopazRocks · 02/10/2016 23:55

Would Kaz have a smart phone in prison?

ibrowse, i don't know, but sometimes think when things happen/improve as we discussed it ' Oh good, they've paid attention'. Grin

starsorwater · 02/10/2016 23:56

Helen will go back to him yet.

That meeting after the court case ended, she's keeping that quiet.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2016 23:58

For that matter, would Helen be allowed to take her phone in with her? Maybe prints are the only way.

Wolpertinger · 03/10/2016 00:03

You aren't allowed to take mobile phones or memory sticks into prison. And internet is closely controlled or supposed to be. Printing out some photos would be the only way for Helen to get them to her.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 03/10/2016 00:08

I don't think Kaz would be allowed a phone in prison, so printing out the pictures is logical.

I can also see the Rob-logic in his thinking. After Friday, he probably desperately wanted to "show them" and decided the way to do it was to win the Darrington match single-handed whilst wincing heroically about his injury. It would never occur to him that there would be a problem because, well, they're all chaps on the team, none of these awful women around, and it's run by Harrison who gave evidence for the prosecution so must be on his side. Though I can't work out what on earth possessed him to go back to try to offer advice.

But he is getting increasingly desperate and I fear the next tactic is going to be to run off with Jack, or try to rape Helen, Emma or Kirsty.

DadDadDad · 03/10/2016 00:09

ibrowze - on the photo point, I was assuming that perhaps phones are not permitted inside the unit (same rules as prison), but I don't know if that's realistic.

After the past year or so it's delicious hearing Rob being demolished, but I wonder if it's a bit too neat and too quick. For example, there probably are some in Ambridge who wonder if Helen is a bit unhinged and Rob has been unfairly demonised. If he hadn't publicly laid into Emma, the dramatic tension of some still taking Rob's side (Susan) could have been sustained. Or if Ambridge had lost the match it would sow seeds of doubt in some minds about whether a man who had not been convicted of any crime should be thrown off the team.

ColdTeaAgain · 03/10/2016 00:13

Suppose it's possible she wouldn't be allowed to take a phone/camera in with her though?

Do we know if Ursula is still at the cottage? He must be an absolute nightmare to live with atm!

Agree, The Unravelling of Knob might be a bit unrealistic but enjoyable nonetheless! Saying that, I can imagine his character being just the sort of person that would completely lose the plot once he no longer has power over people. He simply can't believe people are siding with a woman.

Johnny is a fab character. Hate the way Josh sometimes patronises him and clearly feels superior over him.

I find most of the acting in TA really good. I think the high volume of Pip and Toby scenes lately are dropping the standards. Alice is pretty awful too. Rex is too bland to conjure any feelings either way.

We need to hear what Susan thinks of Rob now! Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 03/10/2016 00:14

It seemed tonight that the SWs felt the need to provide some sort of explanation for Helen not having filed for divorce yet. It wasn't very convincing, felt like thin cover for a plotline. Something like Rob deciding that as they are still married he's entitled to his 'conjugal rights' perhaps.

ColdTeaAgain · 03/10/2016 00:16

Whoops x post about photos!

officerhinrika · 03/10/2016 01:17

Anyone taking a mobile into a prison, including a mother & baby unit, is committing a criminal offence. There's a maximum penalty of 2 years in jail and possibly a fine. Prison staff are subject to this too, if you work in a prison and forget to take your mobile out of your handbag when going to work you can be prosecuted. A friend works in one and she is paranoid about checking she's left her phone in her car!

Having said that there are illegal mobiles in prisons but if they are caught the sentence can go up by 2 years.

Fink · 03/10/2016 06:14

ColdTea, yes I assume Ursula is still at BHC. Rob wanted her to come and change Jack's nappy last week and I think we would have heard if she'd left by then. I'm sure Bruce will be along to collect her soon.

Fiderer · 03/10/2016 09:07

That was a great episode. Was esp pleased about the cricket, though blimey, not having listened to Rob for years, couldn't believe how vile he was. Attacking Adam, Johnny, Helen, the team - then coming back. He really is delusional.

Rather nostalgic about Darrington from years back. I remember when the Darrington team flooded the pitch & Phil as umpire saved the day. Didn't there used to be an expression "batting for Darrington" meaning gay?

Adam's v self-pitying. Helen is not loyal, she's too stubborn and full of herself to admit she made a colossal mistake in marrying Rob. Imo that's why she hasn't filed for divorce.

ibrowze · 03/10/2016 09:15

Thanks officerhintika and others for clarifying that point. If anyone wants to know why I listen to Archers I just say it's for further education.

Agree Dx3 re pat ending to Robs debagging. Hadn't quite put my finger on it the other night but it did feel a bit like a quick wrap at the end of a children's film. More subtlety and divisions in village would be much better.

Scorbus · 03/10/2016 09:41

If Justin does decide to withdraw the job (which I don't think he will) then Rob will really unravel and do something drastic.

enochroot · 03/10/2016 09:54

Justin won't withdraw the job offer now but, even when on an even keel, Rob takes liberties with time keeping, cuts corners, does short-sighted cost-cutting, hasn't held on to a job for long, is an unpleasant boss to work for and will see this job as an opportunity to settle scores. He also failed miserably at the public relations side of management as when Charlie made him do the guided tour of the waste thingy.
Either he'll flounce off if his methods are questioned or Justin will realise he's useless and sack him.
