Hopefully we can go back to an ordinary tale of country folk?

Spoilers are frowned upon.... There's a thread for that.

I don't get this 'thing' about the actor who plays Henry's voice . I was an EY teacher and some of the boys have piping voices and some don't. He sounds normal to me.

KingscoteStaff · 26/09/2016 21:09

Yes yes to Alice suddenly sounding way more posh than before.

Gherkinsmummy · 26/09/2016 21:35

Poor martyred Adam. Ugh

xmasadsboohiss · 26/09/2016 21:50

No offence to everyone who is happy that TA is back to its old ways - but that was easily the dullest episode I've heard in a long time. The Adam martyrdom was the only bright spot for me. Completely implausible that Susan wouldn't have been airing her views on Rob too. And that Alice woman - words fail me!

JeNeSuisPasVotreMiel · 26/09/2016 22:02

Alice struck me as perfect fodder for Toby Fairbrother.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 26/09/2016 22:12

I can't stand Pip, Alice, Toby , Adam and so help me, Henwee.

ibrowze · 26/09/2016 22:35

Well I like Alice. At least I like the actors voice but not how judgey she was tonight. Could it be she was imagining her Mums cuckoldries being repeated in the next generations? But i don't remember her voicing her distaste of her sister Kate's affairs?

Imbroglio · 26/09/2016 22:45

I think Alice was the product of Brian and Jenny 'making up' after a fidelity. She's also gone through Jenny taking in Ruari and looking after Phoebe because Kate is so hopeless and Roy messed it up with Hayley.

I imagine she feels pretty disappointed in Adam.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 26/09/2016 23:41

I don't get how Adam justifies getting angry because Alice says he's a cheat and treated Ian appallingly. It's 100% true.

Eastpoint · 27/09/2016 06:30

I enjoyed last night's episode, that's pretty much the amount of excitement I'm looking for from The Archers. I feel bemused that we had to live through such a different period simply because of one man. I wonder what the script writers prefer.

CeciledeVolanges · 27/09/2016 06:32

Eastpoint that applies to life as well :(

Gherkinsmummy · 27/09/2016 07:41

I thought Alice was being honest probably bored of Adam's endless self pity! He is only sorry because he got caught.

TheAntiBoop · 27/09/2016 08:38

Adam has always been a whinger. Not sure how Ian has managed for so long. Although I still cringe at the casual camp stereotyping of Ian when they went with Ian to watch the cricket.

It would be nice if they had some couples who never have affairs. Other than Neil and Susan. Is it really that common that every couple experiences infidelity of some sort?

JessieMcJessie · 27/09/2016 09:07

Alan and Usha. Phil and Jill. Mike and Betty/Vicky. Oliver and Caroline. Lynda and Robert. Clarrie and Eddie (he fancied Jolene but nothing happened). Lizzie and Nigel. Pat and Tony. Jolene and Kenton though they both have form).

I'd say more couples without affairs than with.

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2016 09:17

ladyConstance Adam's angry with himself, some people express themselves that way.

Jessie that's unusual IMO and E . I reckon that monogamy isn't a natural state. You just have to read some of the threads on MN . Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2016 09:18

It would be nice if they had an affair-free Aldridge - I really hope Alice doesn't blow not just her marriage but also her job by having an affair with the boss. I'd like to hear more of her being a professional engineer.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/09/2016 09:21

Pp - nah, its just that no-one starts a thread 'I've been monogamously and on balance happily married for 30 years, AIBU?'.

TheAntiBoop · 27/09/2016 09:22

I suppose I meant more a couple who marries young and stays the course

JessieMcJessie · 27/09/2016 09:22

I agree Errol.

JessieMcJessie · 27/09/2016 09:23

Pat and Tony then Anti.

Cromwell1536 · 27/09/2016 09:45

Because in Archers' world, FAAAAAMMMLEEE trumps everything. Let us recall that Kirsty accused Helen of keeping schtumm on Tom's pre-nup doubts because of the Archer clannishness. Adam thinks Alice should support him fundamentally because she's his sister - he said so! Of course, she's allowed to muster a little light agreement with him that Ian must be feeling awful and isn't that dreadful, but basically, she's supposed to understand that Adam's little flings mean nothing. Ugh, have always disliked Adam, whining mummy's boy, now really don't like him at all. I do like Alice (she was a good mate to Amy, remember) and hope she continues to hold Adam's feet to the fire. Probably the dreadful Jenny's imprecations will prevail tho'.

Cromwell1536 · 27/09/2016 09:49

Tulip, wasn't Carol teasing Jill and capitalising on Jill's obvious discomfort? They had a laugh about it at the end.

glowfrog · 27/09/2016 10:19

Alice was loathsome. I'm wondering if what is being sign posted in not her having an affair but getting fired or struggling in the job.

"Of course, it won't rain!"

Does anyone ever behave in such a way in real life?? THAT entitled?!

Abraiid2 · 27/09/2016 10:33

The Carol p-take of Jill didn't really work dramatically, did it?

R4 · 27/09/2016 11:09

You're right Abraid. Carol always has that supercilious tone to her voice, as if she thinks that the rest of the world is far too ridiculous to be taken seriously. So you couldn't tell the difference between her 'only-joking' and 'normal' voices.
And Jill is shrill. Or surprised. She doesn't do much else.
There is no warmth between the characters nor chemistry between the actors.
