Hopefully we can go back to an ordinary tale of country folk?

Spoilers are frowned upon.... There's a thread for that.

Pip sounds so embarrassed by Toby - when talking to her dad about it as well as not wanting a PDA yesterday. Not sure why she agreed to going steady with him when she knows it's not whay she really wants.

Fiderer · 26/09/2016 14:01

Grin at invalid food. V apt.

Chutney perhaps?

ErrolTheDragon · 26/09/2016 14:06

Invalid food? That'd be homemade egg custard.

Cherylene · 26/09/2016 14:35

Calf's foot jelly anyone Confused Grin

I suppose Rob could have a bit of a conversion along the lines of not wanting his son to go through what he went through. However, because he can't admit he is anything other than perfect, I suspect he is destined to follow Bruce's example because "it never did me any harm." There was a hint of what was to come when virtually his first reaction was "He's a real little man." It's obviously a perfectly harmless observation normally, but with Rob it has all those misogynistic overtones and echoes of sneers about feminised influences.

Wonder if Josh is reading today's Evening Standard?

He's had a couple of rants at Jim but I suppose academics rank low in Rob's hierarchy.

I wish they'd get a new Henry. This one would sound sweet for a 3 year old

Scarydinosaurs · 26/09/2016 16:32

Henry sounds positively ridiculous. Unless they're planning for a LTSL regarding Henry's lack of development due to him witnessing abuse...

Fiderer · 26/09/2016 16:56

I'd quite like some invalid's food on a tray delivered to my chaise longue.

Mushrooms acceptable. Bridge Farm cheese. Chutney. No cider but have a hankering for a pint of Shires.

As someone who has entered stuff to flower and produce shows i find the idea of an old hand like Jill leaving the displaying of her produce to the clueless Toby completely unbelievable. Displaying your stuff, dusting the jar so its not smeary, having it the right way round is a big part of it. I also thought the exhibits themselves had to be names so the chutney would have a name on it, then the staging card next to it.
There is no way Jill would leave staging her precious stuff to a couple of clueless youths.

BertrandRussell · 26/09/2016 17:26

I thought exactly that, rebecca. The "placement" of the jars is vital!

enochroot · 26/09/2016 17:31

And of course he's attacked a SAB so his aggression is not simply confined to women, children and gays. It's anyone who he can feel superior to and feed his ego by belittling.
Stefan was very scared of him and there was a hint that the rest of the workforce at Berrow Farm feared him too.

OhTheRoses · 26/09/2016 19:07

I'd like to strangle Susan.

2rebecca · 26/09/2016 19:15

I'm not feeling very sympathetic to Carol. Why doesn't Jill tell her the mistake only happened because she had too much stuff because carol couldn't be arsed to take and stage her own stuff and it wouldn't have even been in the show if it wasn't for her.
If you want your stuff staged properly you do it yourself.
Sanctimonious sounding cow.

birdsdestiny · 26/09/2016 19:24

Adams whining is getting on my nerves.

R4 · 26/09/2016 19:24

So is Alice about to start an affair with Mr Double First?

R4 · 26/09/2016 19:36

Can I repeat how much I loathe Adam. I am rubbing my hands with glee at him getting his just desserts though.
Adam to Ian: I've passively/aggressively packed my bags but you'd never throw me out, would you.
Ian: Yes I would. Go

Adam to Alice: you despise me for my unfaithfulness, don't you.
Alice: Yes I do. Don't come to my party.

Grin R4

And YY to Alice's incipient affair being signposted. Soosan will go berserk!

RockNRollNerd · 26/09/2016 20:02

Alice is clearly going to have a workplace fling with someone at the new job isn't she. And you're right Bore Susan will be livid if she loses her family connection to the Aldridges. Presumably it will be an entirely silent breaking up of the marriage on the part of Chris though as we haven't heard from him in over a year.

I can't work out why Henry sounds so young, other than that he's a rubbish actor/the person recording his lines with is crap at getting him to do them. Presumably when they made him a speaking role they picked a child of the same age, if not a bit older, so his voice should surely have aged naturally?

AnnieNoMouse · 26/09/2016 20:05

Has Alice always been so annoying? She sounds like Pip II

AnnieNoMouse · 26/09/2016 20:07

My theory Rock about the Henry actor is that when they chose him he was at least 2 years older than the character and they told him to do a younger voice, which the actor interprets as "baby voice" because to him someone 2 years younger than him is incredibly young and therefore has a baby voice.

selsigfach · 26/09/2016 20:13

I loathe Alice. She's so stuck up and entitled.

Redcliff · 26/09/2016 20:16

Very disappointed that Susan didn't mention Rob. What does she think of him now?

Putthetulipsthere · 26/09/2016 20:29

Was Alice's accent always quite so clipped? She sounded super posh tonight. I almost thought it was a different actor for a moment.

I thought Carole's reaction was OTT and not true to character. I would have expected her to just laugh it off. She's been used to fit in with a SL illustating how cut throat village shows are ( which of course they are).

Putthetulipsthere · 26/09/2016 20:33

Redcliffe, yes it's very odd not hearing Susan's reaction to the news regarding Rob. And I'm dying to hear Neil talk about his time in the witness box.
