Welcome one and all. No spoilers please!

OP posts:

Let me be the first to say that I like Will. Always have. Way back in the early days of Will/Emma/Ed I think he was very harshly treated. I have NEVER been keen on Ed but admit that at least he seems to have matured over the last couple of years. If you listen carefully though, Ed is just as big a whiner as Will is accused of being .

Imbroglio · 15/09/2016 21:51

Perhaps oliver has a dark past and is doing penance to cleanse his soul. Joe's words certainly struck a chord....

ibrowze · 15/09/2016 21:55

Nope I'm an Ed person. Don't know what it is about Will, his voice has a certain defensive but needling superiority about it. I know he's a hard worker but it feels like he's risen above the ranks of his own family and rather despises them.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 15/09/2016 21:58

I agree vango. I have only been able to tolerate Ed for the past few years - up until then he was an absolute whining child-man, although now I really like him. Eddie and Joe deserve precisely nowt - disrespectful pair of gobshites. I feel for Oliver and Caroline, they've made a rod for their own backs by stepping in and helping the Grundys when they were desperate, only to now have them taking it all completely for granted - their gratitude is always short-lived.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 15/09/2016 22:03

Just read my post back (should have done it before posting...) and realise it comes across as suggesting the Grundys should be doffing their caps to Oliver and Caroline, but that's not what I meant at all. I think people (O&C especially) have been very good to the Grundys and it's only Clarrie and Ed who realise it while Eddie & Joe repay their many kindnesses by making trouble at GG and trashing Grange Farm.

I still miss Jethro Larkin

One was Queen Ethelburga's, which offers boarding in Year 1.

Warning- on previous mumsnet threads those who mention QA seem to have been threatened with legal action.

Mentioning a school in connection with Rob may be distasteful but I doubt its actually actionable.

BoffinMum · 15/09/2016 22:56

QA are an odd sort of school. The GMcK of education.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/09/2016 23:00

No mention by any of the Grundies about messing Will around re no 1 The Green. Maybe he'll rent it to Rob if Usha kicks him out of BHC.

Vango · 15/09/2016 23:02

Don't know what it is about Will, his voice has a certain defensive but needling superiority about it.

I hear incredulity. Joe and Eddie are a pair of crooks and chancers. I'm amazed that anyone in Ambridge ever offers them work. Who knows where they'd be without Clarrie.

I know he's a hard worker but it feels like he's risen above the ranks of his own family and rather despises them.

He's just his hardworking mother's child. For the most part, he and Clarrie have a lovely relationship. Hard to blame him for regularly sounding beyond frustrated with the other pair!

ErrolTheDragon · 15/09/2016 23:14

Will did get lucky in inheriting the dosh that allowed him to buy no 1 though, whereas Ed has had bad luck such as having his cows stolen. Will's better position relative to Ed isn't all down to hard graft.

Gherkinsmummy · 15/09/2016 23:19

Rob Titchener has just followed me on Twitter Shock

I don't mind the Grundies but I also think that Joe & Eddie are appalling. I hope that Oliver and Caroline have given them a proper contract and that they will face the music if they trash Grange Farm. Tslk of a huge party is immediately worrying.

Vango · 15/09/2016 23:25

Errol Inheriting the cash was relatively recent (in my mind anyway!). Ed had already managed to go off the rails before then. And I'm amazed that Will puts up with the pair of them now after all they put him through when George was born.

I always thought it was so hard how everyone felt like Will should just forget about what Em and Em put him through

Putthetulipsthere · 15/09/2016 23:40

YY agree the Grundy's are not worthy of sympathy - well Clarrie is, but she has to be a saint to put up with Eddie & Joe.

As for Oliver and Caroline, I just find the whole Italian story really unconvincing - it seems one minute Grey Gables was Caroline's entire life, constantly deflecting Oliver's plans for a break, then she goes on holiday to Italy with him which progress to her abandoning Ambridge and wanting to make Italy her home 🤔🤔. I think SOC didn't quite know what to do with them.

Putthetulipsthere · 15/09/2016 23:40

Which progresses

Gherkinsmummy · 15/09/2016 23:53

I wasn't really listening Louise but Joe let the bath overflow and there was something about a crack and then rather than buying decent paint Eddie tried to mix his own from flour and dog hair. It was all really stupid considering how kind the sterlings were being

redshoeblueshoe · 15/09/2016 23:53

Can somebody just remind me - do we like any one on TA ? Archers

Vango · 15/09/2016 23:56

Thanks Vango - I think maybe I meant - do the SW's care what we think

I have a lasting memory of Helen being an utter bitch after her brother's death, but not of her being ill because of it.

Yes she was utterly dreadful to Hayley. She has never been the most sympathetic of characters and can be self-absorbed and self-centred.
