Welcome one and all. No spoilers please!

I think Ian will eventually take Adam back, unless this is preparing the way for the return of Charlie in some way....

JudyCoolibar · 21/09/2016 15:11

I can see how Usha would have thought it was better not to rock the boat whilst her firm was involved. If she's evicted Rob, he would have had a lovely time putting on the persecuted victim act and making out that it was all a misogynistic conspiracy, and he would have made sure he dragged in the fact that the defence team had thrown poor him out on the street.

trevortrevorslatterfry · 21/09/2016 15:24

YY Ebearhug and others I don't dispute that Alan will have a part to play and that some members of the community would look to him for support. But "heal the whole community"?? Envy

ErrolTheDragon · 21/09/2016 15:38

Until the trial, would Usha have had any idea about the CC (the rape didn't emerge till the trial anyway) - would/should Dominic have discussed a case with her?

JessieMcJessie · 21/09/2016 16:00

Yes Errol partners in the same firm can discuss each other's files without breaching their duty of confidentiality to the client. It's often necessary either for the management of the firm or perhaps to sense- check a case strategy with a colleague, but as long as the info stays within the firm then it's all fine. What was a bit off was Usha passing the info to Alan.

JudyCoolibar · 21/09/2016 16:42

Dominic probably could have discussed the case with Usha, since they're all bound by the duty of confidentiality. Also she may well have got some of the information from people like Ruth.

JudyCoolibar · 21/09/2016 16:42

What information did Usha pass to Alan that he wouldn't have known from the trial reports?

glowfrog · 21/09/2016 16:47

Vango maybe she didn't want to evict him while he had Henry with him?

JessieMcJessie · 21/09/2016 17:10

Judy Alan said to Isha something along the lines of "Do you really believe that Rob was to blame for his actions given what Dominic told you about Bruce?"

Possibly Helen told Dominic something about Bruce, or perhaps Dominic just observed Bruce's behavior during the trial. If the latter then not a breach of confidentiality, but the implication was that Isha had been told something that Dominic had learned in his capacity as Helen's defence solicitor.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/09/2016 17:14

I'm not sure who it was who said they didn't recognise Alan's voice last night but I agree. I thought it was a new Alan for a while and did a fair amount of WTF-ing at the radio until I was convinced otherwise

Minimammoth · 21/09/2016 17:27

I didn't think it was that easy to evict a tenant. Surely there has to be a more substantial reason than an unproved as yet rapist. Unless he has not paid his rent.

PseudoBadger · 21/09/2016 17:29

I wondered why Usha was with Dr Locke..... Wink

trevortrevorslatterfry · 21/09/2016 17:31

mini Usha was just going to give Rob notice to leave, not evict him.
(Landlords don't have to renew the lease when it expires)

JudyCoolibar · 21/09/2016 17:41

Jessie, it isn't a breach of confidentiality for fellow members of a law firm to discuss each others' cases. Indeed, many law firms these days have an audit system whereby files are checked by other members of the firm as a quality control measure, so of necessity they will get to know a great deal about each others' cases.

Shallishanti · 21/09/2016 17:42

she seemed very confident that she could do whatever it was and I guess she'd know

JessieMcJessie · 21/09/2016 17:52

Judy with respect, please read my post at 16:00. You're telling me something I already said. I'm a partner in a law firm by the way.

enochroot · 21/09/2016 17:52

I was interested in the emphatic 'yet' from Usha when Alan said Rob hadn't been convicted of anything.

ChickenSalad · 21/09/2016 17:58

It is very easy legally-speaking to evict a domestic tenant. A business tenant is another matter. Why do you think people want to own their own homes in this country?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/09/2016 18:14

I didn't think it was that easy to evict a tenant. Surely there has to be a more substantial reason than an unproved as yet rapist. Unless he has not paid his rent.

A landlord can terminate a lease at the end of the contractual period which is usually 6 months. If the lease runs on after the original contractual period it can usually be terminated on one month's notice.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 21/09/2016 18:16

And yes she is not "evicting" him. A contract works for both parties.

MephistoMarley · 21/09/2016 18:20

It's not evicting, it's serving notice to leave the property at an agreed date. Easy enough unless rob refuses to go.

Vango · 21/09/2016 18:21

Apologies. Not 'evicting', of course. I realise it sounds odd even suggesting it but if Usha had given him notice to leave would that have given Pat and Tony a better chance at the first Family Court hearing? (Assuming he couldn't find anywhere else to live in Ambridge?)

BitOutOfPractice · 21/09/2016 18:29

Jessie lots of people make the same point often Confused

EsmesBees · 21/09/2016 19:07

God I love Kirsty. She is exactly what Helen needs right now.

ApocalypseSlough · 21/09/2016 19:10

Kirsty is pregnant. Shock
