So SOC has been to 'creative writing' evening class and picked the first people to turn up, to write the script. It's simply appalling. This is meant to be a storyline to highlight the issue of coercive control. So far all we have learned , is if you find yourself in this situation , the only way out is to attempt to murder your spouse. Then you will not attempt to protect or defend yourself and instead hope for a SHL. Who may or may not be distracted by their home/love life.
Then you get to court and the jury is made up of cartoon characters..

Let's have a guess on a guilty verdict
Followed by an appeal. Then da da !
Or should I say de dum dum dum dum. (Eastenders drum roll)

Oh look everyone, the trial is like a microcosm of the whole Helen/Rob storyline. To begin with the men lead and try to influence and control the women. Then there's a big row. Now the downtrodden women step up again....

Thank God for Eileen Atkins's character, actually. Because she's delivering a masterclass in all the things Anna Tregorran should have said over the past several months. In the space of a few succinct minutes.

This is not representative of the jury I was on. Yes, it happened that there were 11 and yes we had to deliberate to convince some others. But there were no arguments or personal insults.

We took our job seriously.
