Posted this on the end of previous thread, so re-posting.

And there I was, having been coaxed to take my fingers out my ears, even having actually listened to the end of the film. I was actually planning to listen to tonight's episode as it was broadcast.

Thankfully I didn't. And read the thread update.

La, la, la, la, la...

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 03/04/2016 23:42

Because Custard is Rhubarbs partner in crime.

Now I think of it, why did she make something she thought he hated?

On purpose. So she could bring it up as an early example of gaslighting. The supper was about her having it out with him before she walked.

EBearhug · 03/04/2016 23:43

Cornflour in custard?? That's Birds, not proper custard!

Heat egg yolks with vanilla extract and caster sugar, stirring all the time. As it thickens, add cream. Keep stirring.

I do agree with Rob that homemade custard is far superior to shop custard - unless you get the luxury type.

KingscoteStaff · 03/04/2016 23:43

Well, you'll all be pleased to know that KD thinks we're all delighted.

Someone tweeted him that there were many unhappy listeners, and he replied that "...in my timeline it’s about 20:1 happy to sad".

So that's OK, then.

EBearhug · 03/04/2016 23:45

Also, now I want baked egg custard, but it is too late, and I should go to bed instead.

EBearhug · 03/04/2016 23:46

Someone tweeted him that there were many unhappy listeners, and he replied that "...in my timeline it’s about 20:1 happy to sad".

That's because the ones who are pissed off with the storyline, Keri, are not tweeting you. They're ignoring you.

BYOSnowman · 03/04/2016 23:46

Kd now joins soc on my 'he's a fucking knob' list

Vango · 03/04/2016 23:50

Gruach from the Daily M, Listeners praised the way the controversial storyline was handled.

That's the only line that's made me laugh tonight! Who are these imaginary listeners? Not one that I've read on here tonight! Is this forum really so unrepresentative of the wider audience?

AugustaFinkNottle · 03/04/2016 23:55

At least we had a partial answer to one mystery, when Helen asked Knob if he'd made the bathwater too hot for Henry. It sounds like she's been putting two and two together several times over. Let's hope she starts thinking about the hunt sab and maybe the culvert.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 03/04/2016 23:56

The guardian were less effusive.

trufflehunterthebadger · 03/04/2016 23:57

His fingerprints will be on the knife. That will count in her favour

of course they are. it was in his house.

AugustaFinkNottle · 03/04/2016 23:58

Someone's referred KD direct to this thread, and another person tweeted to him "Missed opportunity to show women can escape abuse safely through own efforts/with the right help." Some of ours?

BYOSnowman · 03/04/2016 23:59

Lowfield have the synopsis up

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/04/2016 23:59

Tim Stimpson being v coy on Twitter about whether Knob is properdead or nearlydead or notdead.

(I don't have a twitter account but can still see what they are saying)

Responding to Helen Titchener’s stabbing of her husband Rob Titchener in The Archers, Refuge chief executive Sandra Horley CBE said:

"Refuge is as shocked as everyone else by the dramatic turn of events in The Archers on Sunday evening.

“Listeners do not know how this story will unfold. What they do know is that Helen obviously felt under threat from an aggressive man. Rob was behaving in a menacing way towards Helen’s son Henry, and in the melee that ensued, Rob suffered (apparently) fatal wounds. This episode tells us that a victim of prolonged abuse may one day fight back when she is in great danger.

“Helen’s situation mirrors what so many abused women feel and experience every day. It is important to remember that research shows an abused woman is at most risk at the point of separation. This storyline simply reflects the reality for many women today and I congratulate the script writers for highlighting a much ignored issue.”

AugustaFinkNottle · 04/04/2016 00:01

Liking the Guardian headline: "Ambridge murder: a bit too EastEnders?"

Vango · 04/04/2016 00:02

Helen’s situation mirrors what so many abused women feel and experience every day.

Do many abused women stab their partners every day? I think they were a bit hasty with that statement. Especially since the opening line says they were shocked at the dramatic turn of events. It's one or the other surely? I reckon that needs to be re-written.

2rebecca · 04/04/2016 00:03

I thought Keri was a woman's name and thought KD was female

BYOSnowman · 04/04/2016 00:04

Maybe Helen will get a slap on the wrist and live happily ever after. Thus educating abused women that the best way forward is to murder your abusive partner. How responsible.

Vango · 04/04/2016 00:07

I know it's a bit pedantic but surely they need to amend the statement to say that "Helen's situation in the run up to tonight's dramatic turn of events mirrors what so many......" etc. And I'd hold off on the congratulations.

AugustaFinkNottle · 04/04/2016 00:08

In law, she'd have a defence on the basis that she was defending Henry, provided of course that she was believed.

PrincessFiorimonde · 04/04/2016 00:09

Oh my.

Thanks for the thread, Pseudo - and congrats on the 50,000th post. Flowers

EBearhug · 04/04/2016 00:10

No, Keri's definitely a man.
