arse.
now she is for it. he knows she is not herself. she is in even more danger.

BYOSnowman · 25/03/2016 19:55

Brilliant acting though - you could hear the rising panic in rob as she was defying him

AugustaFinkNottle · 25/03/2016 19:57

Is there a safeguard against last number redial for Women's Aid?

Elendon · 25/03/2016 20:03

So Helen kept the no of WA that Kirsty gave her. I bet she also took down the ID no. Rob is giving Helen no peace now, and Helen knows she's been raped, but is too ashamed to admit it. Thankfully Helen has WA and Kirsty on her side.

Should she confess to Pat? Will Pat take her side? I think she should talk to Tom.

And Lynda should take care too!

JessTitchener · 25/03/2016 20:04

The scales certainly seem to be falling from Helen's eyes but I'm more concerned for her safety now. I'm not anywhere near an expert, but aren't women in abusive relationships at most risk when they try to leave?
Her telling Knob to sort out supper won't go unpunished.

Elendon · 25/03/2016 20:04

I fear he's going to push Helen down the stairs and claim she threw herself down.

lljkk · 25/03/2016 20:07

If Alf really felt regret he'd offer to pay the money back!!! I'm Angry for Clarrie.

I recall most blame put on Sharon for John's death. Sharon was selfish, maybe even slightly predatory. Which is why Pat ran Sharon off the premises when Sharon turned up after John's death (pg with Johnny jnr, but she didn't say so then).

And they blamed John himself for getting in knots with Sharon + Hayley. Pat felt guilty for ever allowing Sharon on the premises. Tony blamed self for having argument with John that morning & not taking Fergie tractor safety more seriously. Hayley felt bad for dumping John which put him into a complete state, even though he totally two-timed her. There was a lot of guilt to go around.

@bigbuttons

Net week's RT blurb for next Friday is also tantalising. It says Helen uncovers some truths.

OI NO SPOILERS please.

starsorwater · 25/03/2016 20:11

I have listened to TA for thirty years and more but I cannot any longer. Would be very grateful for any kind person to tell me what happened tonight. Nigel parting with the roof was a dream compared to this.

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 25/03/2016 20:12

BIGBUTTONS I saw your apology after I had "OI"'d. My apologies to you too.

@SmallLegsOrSmallEggs

The convention on this thread is that once it has first been broadcast it can be discussed. So the film listeners avoid the thread until the film if they want to be kept in suspenders.

Olivia like obedient posters. Do you know what obedient means?Grin

GrinShockThat's a bit harsh. It's not just me y'know.
I hardly watch anything anymore the number of spoilers I have had to withdraw etc Sad

EasyToEatTiger · 25/03/2016 20:12

Love the idea of Rob gaslighting himselfGrin. I wonder what Rob will cook up for supper? Apart from a rage. That old chestnut. I think Hellin is going to be hit. Hard.

drspouse · 25/03/2016 20:13

Is that Kirsty on the phone putting on a different voice?
I think it was the midwife from Doctors.

SausagesAndLaughter · 25/03/2016 20:15

According to Glasgow East WA, you can't trace them through redial -
"Women’s Aid does not return phone calls or e-mails unless specifically instructed by the woman that it is safe to do so now. All Women’s Aid phone numbers are ‘barred’ i.e. last number 1471 redial would not identify Women’s Aid."

redshoeblueshoe · 25/03/2016 20:15

I thought Helen told WA that she had been raped. I am very worried for her safety. I thought I heard the door go whilst she was still on the phone.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 25/03/2016 20:17

I'm also worried for Helen. I think tonight was very well acted, there was a hardness to her voice that almost suggested she doesn't care any more. I think she's a weird woman but I do hope she's ok.

EasyToEatTiger · 25/03/2016 20:17

The number is on Last number redial on our phone.

elephantoverthehill · 25/03/2016 20:18

Will the dinner be salmon? Or salmone thrown through a window?

redshoeblueshoe · 25/03/2016 20:26

drspouse I thought it was her too

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/03/2016 20:26

LowDudgeon, sorry, you were right and I was wrong! Tom was 17 when John died. Helen was at Reeseheath at the time, which I think is a cheesemaking college. She had been planning to go on an exciting placement - abroad? - but ended up running the dairy at BF while Pat recovered from depression. During that time she was really horrible to Clarrie as well as to Hayley. She appointed Tracy Horrobin to fill a casual vacancy and made her a supervisor. That didn't last long. I think Helen realised she had made a big mistake and had to eat humble pie.

Re Helen telling WA about the rape - she did say what had happened, with gentle prompting from the adviser, but she didn't give it that name. I think that was the point when she started to pull back from further disclosures. She seemed to be thinking 'How can I be in this position? I have a husband who really cares about me - I have a lovely son and home - what I'm describing doesn't happen to people like me...' So many people on this thread have described this stage. I hope things can now be accelerated a bit. My nerves can't take much more. Sad

DadDadDad · 25/03/2016 20:29

But Sausages, that's just saying if you did agree to WA calling you, then their number wouldn't later be revealed by a 1471. That's surely got nothing to do with you calling WA - the number will be in your phone logs unless you delete it. Rob could get Helen's phone, redial the number and just hang up when he gets an answer. (Or he could probably just google the number to find out what it's for).

Gherkinsmummy · 25/03/2016 20:40

After Rob went into her bag and took her keys Helen must realise that she can't trust him. She surely will take her phone with her everywhere she goes.

TeenyfTroon · 25/03/2016 20:44

OliviaMumsnet, it was very funny though! Grin

EasyToEatTiger · 25/03/2016 20:44

Rape within marriage was only made illegal in England in the 1990s. About 1992. Like EA it is hard to articulate and name. Helen wouldn't call it rape. She probably thinks that rape is what happens with a stranger in the park. Not in her own bed. I remember listenting to a horrible radio rape years ago. Rob has not threatened her to get sex. Yet.

glowfrog · 25/03/2016 20:49

Easy yep - Helen even says so to the WA adviser: "he's not a criminal."

Boomingmarvellous · 25/03/2016 20:51

People like knob do think they are telling the truth, which is why they are so convincing. They rewrite history in their heads and hey presto it's the truth! They are so outraged with their victim because they are victimising them!

My exH convinced himself I started all the arguments because I enjoyed it Hmm screamed in my face to stop shouting at him Hmm told me I only married him to make him unhappy like it made me happy? Hmm that I was controlling despite me doIng all the housework, childcare and working while he enjoyed his hobbies Hmm The list is endless and when I finally believed that he actually did believe that shite was when I ended it.

Wanker!
Short of punching her so hard she needs hospitalisation I don't think Hellin will put up with any of knobs amorous advances after today because she is finally seeing what he did.

I also think sok will turn out to be daughter of knob and Hellin screams to "get that bastard out of here" when she is in labour Grin.
