Maybe if we don't look directly at the other storyline it will disappear?

But Helen will always do what's best for Henry.

Her problem is that Rob is now telling her what's best for Henry and she can't say no.

He did a good line very early on in 'if I'm to be Henry's daddy you can't undermine me' and I think Helen has forgotten that Henry is hers and wouldn't contemplate that Rib wouldn't have his best interests at heart

recyclingbag · 15/03/2016 11:24

You are damaging your child is the worst thing anyone can say to a parent but I don't think 'abusive twat' would be the initial response.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 15/03/2016 11:30

I don't think she gave two hoots about Henry's well-being when she moved in with Rob - even when Rob still seemed basically ok, that was not really a decision motivated by what was best for Henwee, but on what she wanted at the time. Same with ditching him off on Pat and Tony so she could go and shag him on the quiet!

She does care about Henwee, but with Hellin, Hellin has always come first.

redshoeblueshoe · 15/03/2016 11:47

Seek - I totally agree. In Helen's World - Helen always comes first, and if people don't agree with her she does not hesitate to cut them out or just be nasty to them.

Pipbin · 15/03/2016 12:51

Surely with the psychiatric intervention Knob has ruled out the possibility of a home birth?

I think that she will go into labour and Rob will refuse to take her to the hospital or call the midwife.

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/03/2016 13:12

Does she never get any time alone with Henry? Surely she'd want to apologise to him, giving him the chance to lisp "Mummeee, you were just talking about the lawnmower"

EXACTLY, Squeaver. All just silly.

Plus, another thing that has been bothering me is this…… Jess. So, she warned Hellin that she didn't know what she was getting into - making it quite clear that she had experienced his reign of terror. In which case - why on earth was she so keen to leap into bed with him that time around Valentine's Day? Psychotic, emotional abuse isn't generally seen as an aphrodisiac. Would love Jess to come back - find Hellin in grim state and get stuck in helping.

Then the two 'victim' women could emerge victorious rather than having to be rescued by some man

Don't forget, at that point Rob was just going to be a cad that would give Brine a run for his money. It's only since then that SOC has realised what his writers had been writing!

recyclingbag · 15/03/2016 13:25

No I don't agree. The whole party and the fish kettle very clearly set out what kind of man Rob was.

But I imagine Jess slept with him for the same reason most women do - she believed him.

BYOSnowman · 15/03/2016 13:30

I think we have to confine the Jess sl (including why she would want to keep an abusive man in her life if she had any doubt he was the father) to the dustbin as they didn't know what they were doing with the sl at that point

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2016 13:35

AAAAaaaah I've just Listened Again why does she believe knob's lies ? Surely she knows he lies and lies???? This is getting annoying now. yes of course Henry would've said "You were howwible last night mummeeee"

NotdeadyetBOING · 15/03/2016 13:40

Hmmm. Maybe you're right about just conveniently forgetting the Jess SL. Annoying, though. I might even say 'badly done!'...

MrsArthurShappey · 15/03/2016 13:49

recyclingbag oh yes, good point HmmGrin

I like this

SmellySourdough · 15/03/2016 13:58

has knob changed actor? or has he got a cold?
the new voice is even more measured and chilling.

the 'diplomacy' about the weight had me in stitches :o

ColdTeaAgain · 15/03/2016 13:59

Good link, wow he has been quite busy hasn't he?
The whole of Ambridge must think he is a prize twat really. When all this ends everyone will have something to say no doubt. It would make it all so much more believable if there were more mutterings going on about him in the background.

I don't think Helen gets anytime alone with Henry anymore. Either Arse or Knob are always there. No chance of any mother to son chats.

GypsyFl0ss · 15/03/2016 14:02

But no one other than Carol and Kirsty think he's a prize twat. That's what so odd.

BYOSnowman · 15/03/2016 14:08

What's odd is that he has shown himself to be a prize twat to many people but they have either forgotten (Shula/Jenny) or don't talk about it (Adam/Ian) - and that's just naming a couple - there is a big long list of people he has been rude to

Even brine was told by Charlie that rob had been up to stuff at Berrow but chose to forget that.

And Harrison sounded deeply suspicious during the sab interview

EBearhug · 15/03/2016 14:09

When he's not raping, I get the impression that he's meant to be great in bed. That was certainly the impression newly-married Helen was giving.

And although he lies, he is very good at manipulating people to believe it's the

BYOSnowman · 15/03/2016 14:11

I find it difficult because in all the scenes we have heard rob with other people he has come across as creepy and not very convincing. And I thought that before he got with Helen so definitely not clouded judgement!

EBearhug · 15/03/2016 14:11

...to belive it's their fault and he's the one trying to do the right thing against the almost insurmountable barriers they place in his way.

(Bloody phone.)

BYOSnowman · 15/03/2016 14:13

That time Jess turned up and found Helen there (where was rob that night - another mystery) she mentioned he was a good shag and so charming. At the time I thought she must be deranged to think he was on any way charming. Most of his charm seems to stem from other characters commenting on how good looking he is.

Are women so feeble minded that good looks make them believe the behaviour is different to what it is?

BYOSnowman · 15/03/2016 14:14

Do you remember flood night? Lots of people raised eyebrows at his 'plans' - he came across as a dithering idiot

ColdTeaAgain · 15/03/2016 14:14

Maybe it's one of those situations where everyone assumes that everyone else thinks he's great so people tend to keep quiet as they don't want to seem like the only one to have a problem with him.

Gruach · 15/03/2016 14:27

Thanks MrsA - good (not really) to be reminded of all his misdeeds.

Just hope the SWs haven't forgotten them. He needs to be made to account for every single wrong he has done.

And then torn apart by horses.

SmellySourdough · 15/03/2016 14:36

oh yes, horse hunting us a dangerous sport, isn't it?

squeaver · 15/03/2016 14:58

Of course that list isn't exhaustive (although it is fab):

  • Losing it with Jim at Open Farm Sunday and then at the opera
  • Wanting to just run away home and not help on the night of the flood
  • Yelling at Christine when trying to rescue her on the night of the flood
  • Persuading Helen to run away and get married without any of her family knowing about it
  • Pretty much telling Tom to call off his wedding
  • Taking them all to the lap-dancing bar at Tom's stag do
  • Dispatching Kenton on a train to Wales (?) at Tom's stag do
  • The way he spoke about the WI!!!!

And on and on and on. As so many have said before, he should be the only source of gossip and bitching in the whole village.
