Come on Kirsty!

OP posts:

Hello PEGGY!

Disgusted with Pat using Henwee as an excuse not to visit. Tony, Tom, John can help with him, or Pat could go after dropping him back to Rob for the night. FFS!

Imbroglio · 08/02/2016 19:46

BYO there is always birdwatching and crosswords.

Or drinking gin, riding to hounds and cackling.

BYOSnowman · 08/02/2016 19:47

Henry is clearly so high maintenance he needs four adults (Johnny is close enough an adult) to watch over him

Have any of these sw ever been pregnant or met a child?

BYOSnowman · 08/02/2016 19:48

Hmmm, I quite like crosswords. But if that's all I spend my old age doing its going to go reeeeeeally slowly

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/02/2016 19:49

They were sewing curtains for the village hall.

As for how to fill up your time when you're old - my parents have funerals and sickbeds to attend most weeks. Sad

AdventuresOfADentist · 08/02/2016 19:49

BYOS you could breed ferrets?

Imbroglio · 08/02/2016 19:50

Or get a job as a cook in the village pub? Or gardening?

nippiesweetie · 08/02/2016 19:51

Was it an all female cast tonight? Are TPTB trying to win all their Bechdel points at once?

BYOSnowman · 08/02/2016 19:51

I'm too city for most of these suggestions!

True about the funerals etc - my parents have the same

SushiAndTheBanshees · 08/02/2016 20:00

Look what I just came across. Some of these waaaaay before my time

ColdTeaAgain · 08/02/2016 20:06

Iorek sewing machine and flapjacks sound lovely. Patbot not so much!

Surely Henry would be at school during the day today, why on earth couldn't she visit then?

Knob manipulating Pat = believable.
The idea that she wouldn't be itching to visit her pregnant DD after she'd been taken to hospital = nonsense!

BYOSnowman · 08/02/2016 20:08

the fact that she would put an unborn baby as a priority over the mother is also unbelievable

i'm imagining what would happen if the Feminism board were writing Pat - kind of what i was expecting from the sw!!

EBearhug · 08/02/2016 20:12

I don't think Walter Gabriel's elephants count among the best storylines, merely the most notorious, and a reminder that storylinesome could be equally duff in the old days. (I wasn't born till the '70s, so never heard it at the time, what with my parents not having met yet.)

LillianGish · 08/02/2016 21:41

As they discussed the flood, anyone else thinking of Knob's role in blocking the culvert and wondering if his actions were implicated in the death of Freda? Totally unthinkable that Pat would not visit Helen for all the reasons set out in my previous post. Also Knob's reassurances must be ringing a bit hollow after he assured Pat there was no problem with Helen's eating only to have her collapse and be hospitalised for that very reason a few days later.

NotdeadyetBOING · 08/02/2016 22:08

Who is that weird woman and what has she done with Pat?

'Helen's priority must be the baby' FFS..

Grrrrrrr

spiker · 08/02/2016 22:11

It was an all female episode tonight I think?

When I realised that I thought sisterly pennies were going to drop and that there would be a pat-or-Peggy bit with Hellin. But no.

Jellykat · 08/02/2016 22:18

De-lurking here as there's something that's been bugging me for weeks.. Does anyone else remember that when Richard met knob, he said he recognised him from somewhere, which knob instantly dismissed.
Have i missed something? Have we found out where from, or is it another SWs 'watch this space'?

spiker · 08/02/2016 22:24

I missed the episode, but this has come up on thread before. Richard did the paternity test on Knob. The actors had to point it out to SWs and they put that bit in. Then regretted it I think, as was v unprofessional of Richard.

Jellykat · 08/02/2016 22:40

Ahaa thanks spiker!
Shame, as i'd hoped Richard might remember something hideous from knobs past and expose him Grrr!

millymollymandy46 · 08/02/2016 22:42

Have been lurking and enjoying these threads for weeks. Would anyone please mind telling me if Rob had anything to do with encouraging Tom to have doubts about marriage AND what was it please he did at Kenton's stag do? Thank you!

BlackeyedShepherdsbringsheep · 08/02/2016 23:22

did he not put kenton on a train to the far side of wales? jolene was rather cross at kenton for being in wales.

the cricket... Rob was caught out in the cricket but there was some doubt over whether he had nicked the ball or not and he refused to walk. he was asked outright whether he had nicked it. I think adam thought he had and was therefore out. the umpire (neil?) from ambridge was not sure.

was this the match where adam had to warn him about too much sledging? (I think it was pretty vile stuff he was saying as well? ) was it also the match where adam was suggesting tactics to rob (ie to get oneself in and stay in with some steady play and defensive shots rather than trying to hit the ball for 6 all the time and thus risk getting out in a silly way like nicking the ball to slips/keeper? )

henry had a video of the incident accidently captured, and rob deleted it after watching it so there would be no proof that he had nicked the ball

adam confronted rob and rob implied that he could not be a real captain/leader because he was gay/not a real man. rob was pretty nasty about it. (forgotten the details)

there were several matches where Rob played the "hero" and knocked the ball all over the park, instead of playing as part of a team. susan was really impressed with his skills immediately after adam had tried to tell him off for not following captains instructions. get geoffry boycott on his case, that'll learn him

ColdTeaAgain · 08/02/2016 23:27

I don't think Knob was at Kentons stag do, wouldn't that of been before he was really part of the village?

At Toms stag do he got Kenton in a complete state and he ended up on a train and woke up somewhere miles from home. I think it turned out he'd be trying get Tom wasted but Jazzer had been swapping drinks so Kenton ended up on the receiving end.

I don't think Knob put Tom off marrying Kirsty, that was just Tom being an idiot? I think Knob had something to do with Tom running off to Canada though. I think he saw it as the perfect opportunity to get rid of him.

ColdTeaAgain · 08/02/2016 23:41

The cricket...I remember being outraged at the time, the way he treated Adam and the cheating Angry Pales into insignificance compared to what he's up to now of course Sad

BlackeyedShepherdsbringsheep · 09/02/2016 07:43

ahh, tom's stag. it is all coming back to me now but only becsue of cold tea

Marilynsbigsister · 09/02/2016 07:46

So sad to hear that Pats alien twin is still taking up this ridiculous SL (the SL itself is v good and needs exploring but the way Pat is responding to it is so beyond 'out of character' as to be a completely different character)
Having listened for 47 yrs, I have stopped. I listened to TA because I do not like the 'Eastenders/Coronation St type of contrived drama. I have always enjoyed the writing on the TA but this SL is filled with sloppy writing, doesn't relate to the main characters personalities at all and makes little or no sense. Entirely plot driven (and therefore looking for ratings rather than caring for the many loyal listeners)

Thank goodness for MN and this great thread. This is my 'archers' for now until normal service has resumed....
