Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

Also Rex is just being made into perfect Pip husband

From the website:

Heather and Solly:

Heather’s husband Solly was a reasonably successful toilet paper manufacturer. He was a proud man who wasn’t short of money (offended when Phil offered to pay for the drinks at Ruth and David’s wedding). Solly and Heather were very proud of Ruth - and of Solly’s success. Their pride on occasions embarrassed Ruth. Speaking of embarrassment, David and Ruth’s wedding guests might still remember Solly’s speech, extolling the virtues of toilet paper.

Solly died in Oct 2002. Heather had been looking forward to them spending their retirement together and enjoying more time with the family...

Is Roof an only child? Sounds like the robotic milking parlour will shortly be moving from dream to reality.....

Hello, just had to de-lurk to wish toddlerbadger a happy birthday. My toddler is just turned two as well. I seem to remember posting on these threads at some point in the last two years, but now I just read them so that I am properly informed before I listen to the actual programme Grin

Thanks for new thread Badger! And yes I did know you were pregnant with BabyBadger when you started this thread but cannot believe she's TWO!!! Happy birthday! Flowers

Then again, the baby across the road has just started reception so I do have to accept that time is indeed marching on (and I'm still wittering on about nothing much) :o

I find the way Rob's going on about getting another pregnancy test from the GP a bit weird. Surely he would have asked to see the stick? I think Pat may be backtracking ...

Knob: "What Helen wants, Helen gets. From now on that's my new rule"
Pat: "Oh Rob don't overindulge her"

WHAAAAAAAAT?????????????????? ARe we supposed to believe his evil powers extend to mind-control? Or he has replaced Pat with a Patbot (a la the Postman Pat movie).

I never used to care much for Jazzer but enjoyed the Jim-Jazzer chat.

Not sure the point of signposting Rex's supposedly sensitive side? Slightly weird chat… Please not BYOS's suggestion.

(Oh, and I'm not sure of my DCs' Ambridge equivalents, but my little sister was born on exact same day as Emma Carter - my Mum was quite proud of this little link I think).

(Oh and thanks ppeat!)

Agree about patbot!!

I think they are lining Rex up to be the perfect son in law but with soc around I wouldn't rule out an unhappy Ruth looking for a bit of night with a fairbrother

How is Mini-Badger 2?! I would have thought she was about 8 months tops! Shock.

Jim and Jazzer were one of my favourite pairings in recent years, they managed to get it just right in terms of light but not ridiculous and it showed both of them in a very good light. A bit like when they let Lynda be kind and caring with Emma or Vicky.

I'm doubting now if Helen is really pregnant...the whole thing though is already annoying me as it feels like obvious blind alleys and as has happened so often it feels like we're being played as listeners. They want us to think x but we know that's what they want us to think, so we know that they will probably do y instead and as it all happens they just drop x and y and introduce kappa and gimmel instead!

Either I was an extremely hard teenager or once again they are failing utterly to script write teenagers plausibly. Ben and co have already lost one grandparent in relatively recent times (although given I'm about 18 months out on Mini-B I'm prepared to concede Ben was probably relatively young when Phil died) and GrannyHeatherPet was a distant grandparent even if she was much loved. The upheaval of my NE Granny moving in when I was mid teens (which I said on an earlier thread was being utterly ignored by the SW from the teenager point of view) was precipitated by NE Grandad dying when I was just turned 14. It was sad for sure but I wasn't moping around the house taking myself off to cry periodically and needing games of tag-rugby to cheer me up. When you only see a grandparent a few times a year you're used to them not being around. A small BOOP point though for Ruth's soliloqy about having to work out how to fit into a large family as an only who did similar when I married DH it is a strange thing to have to get used to.

RocknRoll - I also thought Ruth's soliloquy was good. And wondered (cynically) if it was a desperate attempt by the SW to elicit sympathy from the listeners having realised that they've made her seem like a petulant spoiled brat over the last X months.

My mum's mum died when I was 10. She lived about 100 miles away, but that was a lot in the 50s/60s, so we only saw her for a few days twice a year.

When she died I was sad really purely because my mum was crying. From what TA has given us, the Brookfield kids didn't see much more of Granny Heather than I saw of mine, though I suppose there might have been phone/Skype contact. Ben's deep thoughtful sorrow doesn't really ring true (they'll all miss Jill much more when she pops off because she's always been there)

My dd1 has also just turned two. I thought I was pregnant at the same time as Hayley. Is it Bethany's birthday as well then? Am I getting mixed up? Who is Poppy? All in a muddle. Possibly because dd2 is five weeks old!

Also caught the Jill instead of Gran thing from Pip. Smile

I was very close to my grandfather even though he was in Yorkshire and I was in the Outer Hebrides and there was no Skype or what have you. It's very possible the boys are very upset. I just don't think that the close relationship was established at all so it sounds quite strange..

Don't usually like the comedy Scot shtick that Jazzer does but I loved the chat with Jim. Nicely done.

I can't fathom why Helen a) saw a dr for her booking in b) Rob wasn't told to stay outside. You see a midwife for upduffness. Even high risk you wouldn't see a dr for ages. Any mw would think him coming to the booking in was odd. Gah! He's so creepy and weird. I'm thinking I'm hearing his voice on loads of programmes and it's not him. Am I getting...y'know...overinfested?!

JoskarGrin

Hayley has a DD called Abigail (Abby).

Vicky has a DD called Bethany (Beth).

Nic has a DD called Poppy. (Aiming to be the new Freda ...)

Ben would have been 8 when Phil died in 2010.

I'm pretty certain the reason we've been shown the Ruth-appealing side of Rex is because she was the main barrier to the brethren staying on at Hollowtree after their short term rental comes to an end. She was previously furious because the weird couple (David and Pip) had allowed them to take the land without consulting her. Now the brothers have comforted her DSs with rugby and Rex has done a sad face she'll be on their side. And thus against Jill who'll want them gone quick-sharp. (Possibly David will take agin them as well if he sees them having a malign influence on his wife daughter.)

I also though Knob's comment about the Dr not wanting to do a test was significant. Why have the line otherwise? For me it served to confirm what we know - that we only have Helen's word for it that she is pregnant (and that the announcement seemed to rather conveniently coincide with Knob's loss of temper). I also wondered why she didn't show him the test she did at home - isn't that what most people would do (accompanied by the "do you think that's a positive it looks quite faint to me" type of comments).

(He did say town hall, didn't he? Googling suggests it should be the county court)

I'm wondering if she's not pregnant as well. Lots of men come to the booking in appointments. I'm wondering about a blighted ovum which he then blames her for doing something to cause it to happen. It would be great to hear inside her mind!
