Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

OP posts:

I'd also imagine it is extremely hard for amateurs to act well.

squeaver · 19/10/2015 10:51

Too soon for Fiddler on the Roof then. Ah well, maybe next year...

I'm extremely worried about poor Charlie and have a horrible sense of foreboding that he's going to get the blame and get fired, rather than this being part 1 of the comeuppance of Knob.

Maybe it'll be good for him and he'll come skipping towards Adam across the herbal ley (fnar).

BYOSnowman · 19/10/2015 10:52

Surprised how strongly I feel about it tbh but to me CG has had its time - I don't think we really need a radio play of it. Its passé!!

I would rather they just dropped the Christmas play as this is the second year I have been highly irritated. They clearly want to pick something that they can make into a standalone play for Xmas day

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2015 11:09

So we've got Susan in the Julie Walters' role Grin This is fun Grin

Poor cows Sad

Not poor Berrow though Close it down to stop infection NOW!!!!!!!

Though BOOP point for the chorus of villagers beginning the doing up of the village hall.

2rebecca · 19/10/2015 11:15

I don't see what's empowering about taking your clothes off. Since when was "get your tits out for the boys" seen as a feminist chant?
I feel the same about the Full Monty. I think it's sad all those manual workers had to resort to stripping to pay the bills.

LyndaNotLinda · 19/10/2015 11:19

I don't really like the idea of it either. But would prefer it to noye's fludde

BertrandRussell · 19/10/2015 11:29

I'm old enough to remember John Arlott's wonderful voice "And the policeman's using a helmet to cover his confusion"......

dairyfarmerswife · 19/10/2015 12:19

Did the flood or disappearance of Stefan occur at a time that coincided with when they made silage?

The flood, definitely not, it was Feb wasn't it. Stefan... I can't remember when that was but silage is made late April onwards...

BOOP I think it could be caused by any dead animal. Why geese though?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/10/2015 12:29

Bertrand, thanks for that memory - Grin Grin Grin

I feel the need to defend my Archers calendar. The big pictures are tasteful country scenes, e.g. sheep in a field, tractor ploughing in a field (fields are a recurring feature). There are small pictures of actors and bits of Archers history in a small area to the side. Mostly I forget they're there and don't read them.

OK, that wasn't that convincing. I'm an Archers nerd, I know. Blush

2rebecca · 19/10/2015 12:35

I had an Archers jigsaw. It was in demand so was passed on.

2rebecca · 19/10/2015 12:37

I think Stefan was just sent home to Poland by Rob so he wasn't around for the enquiry.
Will he return in the Spring? As Charlie has taken over as manager he will have Stefan's contact details on record and could contact him if he could be bothered. I'm surprised he didn't when Rob resigned.

LillianGish · 19/10/2015 12:50

I thought Charlie tried to contact Stephan. We only have Knob's word for it that he went back to Poland.
Gapspode I don't think you need to apologise for your Archers calendar. Surely if there is any place in the world you can safely admit to owning one it is on this thread.
I'd like to suggest in the run up to Christmas we nominate our favourite quotes of the year from this thread (Perhaps DDD could compile some sort of top ten!) My own nomination would be to whoever described HP as "throwing in the towel at Trowell" - DH and I were laughing at that again over lunch today, as much for the dedication of the poster (can"t remember who it was) who took the trouble to work out which motorway service station was the most likely one for HP to meet her demise on route from Prudhoe as for the poetry of the phrase itself. I also love the Fiddler on the Roof suggestion for the Christmas show at Lower Loxley.

BitOutOfPractice · 19/10/2015 12:58

dairyfarmerswife I was wonderng about the Fairbrethren geese. They always seem t be trying to not very effectively herd them somewhere or other!

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2015 13:47

Yes LyndanotLinda But would prefer it to Noyes Fludde Me too Grin It'll be fun

BOOP They're just taking them in to the field and out of their barn and vice versa every morning and evening Grin

Toomuchtea · 19/10/2015 14:14

Just catching up - oh poor Charlie, and poor cows. Did like Jennifer wriggling on the hook, and do wonder what precisely she's been told about the personal reasons for Rob going.

BYOSnowman · 19/10/2015 14:19

She seems to have forgotten about stefan too

If you were David or Jenny wouldn't you assume rob leaving was somehow related to the info you have his boss?

LillianGish · 19/10/2015 14:20

Had totally forgotten about Jenny letting the cat out of the bags re Hellin's pregnancy. What will be the fall out of that I wonder??

BYOSnowman · 19/10/2015 14:22

Knob won't care but Helen will be furious. Maybe this will be when he gives her a slap to quieten her down?

I hope he doesn't start hitting her. It's not necessary as the current abuse is bad enough.

BYOSnowman · 19/10/2015 14:25

Does anyone know how the compensation scheme for victims of crime works?

Could ed be eligible?

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2015 14:28

Yes Peggy let the cat out of the bag re. Hell's pregnancy, interesting comment about her looking like a 'bit o' nothing' from Joe

Fink · 19/10/2015 14:31

Any advice for when I start to take TA too seriously?! Blush

I've been an avid listener for years, since I was a teenager, and had no problem distinguishing between fiction and real life ... but over the past few weeks I've found myself getting really upset and/or angry by the Helen-Rob and Phoebe-Alex situations, to the extent that I now switch off whenever either of the men speaks.

Help me get a grip before I end up like one of those people booing the Rob actor!

ppeatfruit · 19/10/2015 14:36

You're on the wrong thread for that Fink We're all a bit over infested on this one Grin. Though I must admit I don't turn off, I enjoy knowing EXACTLY what's going on Grin

LillianGish · 19/10/2015 14:47

Fink Do you mean it's not real? Shock

squeaver · 19/10/2015 14:59

Toomuchtea - the J-Darl and Rob thing is really annoying because she KNOWS about Rob and the culvert. Stefan told her and David but neither of them has EVER mentioned it again.

I can't believe she never said anything about it to Brian.

SevenOhTwo · 19/10/2015 15:02

I don't think Jennifer need necessarily have been told anything more than that Hell's pregnant toomuch - I think it was just too good an opportunity to release some gossip - as the others pointed out having a baby isn't normally a reason for a man to leave work, quite the opposite.

Which reminds me the unanswered question of what HelKnob are living off is starting to seriously aggrieve me now. I noticed the sws helpfully answered a query from here about Charlies position at Berrow via Brian, so now please any lurking sws - why the hell aren't HelKnob more worried about income and what area hey living off?!

byos I think he will end up hitting her - he has form for explosions of violence (sab) so it makes sense, but more pressingly for the sake of the drama, I think Helen would be galvanised into action by physical violence. I agree with the posters who think she doesn't yet see her relationship as abusive - everything so far, even the rape, can be rationalised or queried when in her own mind. I certainly think she is worried and trying to work out what is going on, but I can't see her confiding in anyone, so the only way i see the story is developing is either violence or some lie from the past uncovered.
