Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

Why is Moike nosing around in Ambridge again anyway? Is it all going pear shaped with Vicky?
I wasn't sorry to see them go.

Gruach · 17/10/2015 19:12

While there were reasonable reasons within the story for the Tuckers to move it seems pretty clear that "they" felt Vicky and Bethany had run their course as characters - but they weren't about to have Mike desert, abandon, separate himself from them - it would have looked bad. This way he's still a decent husband and father but he's back where he belongs.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/10/2015 20:41

I think Mike is applying for work as one of the large group of staff looking after the stock and the milking machines, not to be manager. Charlie is covering Rob's role while they recruit someone permanent, I suppose. He is Justin's right hand man, and I assume he has an agriculture degree/background.

I quite liked Vickoi as a character. I do feel they've rather chickened out of the interesting but demanding storylines they would have had to introduce if Bethany had grown up in Ambridge.

2rebecca · 17/10/2015 21:13

Agree, I'd rather have a Bethany storyline than pantomime baddie Rob, whiny "poor poor me" Ruth and endless catastrophies for the Grundies.

JessieMcJessie · 18/10/2015 00:14

I wasn't suggesting Mike was applying for the manager's position. It was clear he was applying for shift work in the general team.

My point was that a specialist operation like Berrow can't be run by a generalist like Charlie.

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 18/10/2015 03:07

No...but it could be run by .....Debbie.

I think Vickoi might be back. I think it is a reverse of city types cannot cope with country living story. She'll see Mile is pining. Realise she misses Lynda et. Al.

2rebecca · 18/10/2015 08:51

I didn't understand why they moved to Brum. Was a reason given?

AnnieNoMouse · 18/10/2015 08:58

I too LA to Thursday's episode and wondered if the MW is actually more savvy than she's letting on to Rob. Either that or she's a rubbish MW.

All these strange goings-on with the animals. Can we blame Rob for those (please). He could be tipping off poachers about what's available and getting a cut of the takings and the cows keeling over will be due to his failure over vaccinations.
I was hoping Charlies emergency would be the discovery of Stefan's body (sorry Stefan)

AnnieNoMouse · 18/10/2015 09:02

The move to Brum was that to access better facilities for Beth (they apparently aren't aware of the Kerslake report :( )

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2015 09:37

Smalleggs Yes but she had said before to Rob that she didn't want a baby at that time. He knew that and deliberately didn't allow her to go upstairs to get her contraception. She KNOWS I tell you Grin.

She no doubt is trying to rationalise it to herself to continue their charade!!

SmallLegsOrSmallEggs · 18/10/2015 10:27

I don't think it has occurred to her that Rob did it delibrrately in order to get her pregnant. I think she thinks it is an unhappy accident.

When do they start weighing you at antenatal appt or have they stopped that? Presumably they are extra careful with EA and maybe avoid weighing.

Rob wouldn't be siding with poachers. They'd be up there with sabs. Maybe more likely that if he came across them there would be an incident of some sort.

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2015 11:10

Oooh yes that's be a brilliant way to get rid of him, "Killed being a hero" Fantastic Grin

BYOSnowman · 18/10/2015 13:25

That's win win for Helen. No more rob but the kids father is remembered as a hero rather than a knob

GruntledOne · 18/10/2015 13:54

No, Rob needs to be thoroughly exposed, I shall be seriously pissed off if he does a Paul is allowed to die off before being made to run the gauntlet of all of Ambridge knowing just how much of a worm he is.

squeaver · 18/10/2015 14:26

I actually think there will be a gradual understanding of his Knobbishness spreading slowly through Ambridge and meaning that Helen is more and more isolated.

The Grundys have already seen through him.

If the cafe goes wrong for Fallon that means PC Plot plus Kenton & Jolene and Jazzer (and Jim will surely then speak up).

Hopefully, the cows problem at Berrow will be traced back to him which means Charlie will tell Brian plus Adam (and then Ian of course)

Somehow Kirsty's going to find out about the pregnancy and attempt some kind of a reconciliation with H, which he will block.

Surely there's also going to be a confrontation with Tom (although I bet P&T will want to "stay neutral" - you can hear them already)

BYOSnowman · 18/10/2015 14:31

Killing him off has the advantage of not having to deal with any follow ups

Not killing him off has the advantage of big bad knob turning up every five years and being evil

A bit like hazel

CuttedUpPear · 18/10/2015 14:37

Surely Moike's commute would be unsustainable? The bloomin TRAFFIC I tell ya.

Gruach · 18/10/2015 14:41

He's planning to spend more and more time in Roy's spare room. (And sitting at the bar in the pub telling everyone about his clever granddaughter.)

JessieMcJessie · 18/10/2015 15:02

Mike's plans to leave Vicky alone for days on end with Bethany, who needs extra care than other children her age, are a shocking abdication of responsibility. I am surprised nobody has pulled him up on it yet, rather than delighting at how nice it is to see him in Ambridge all the time.

BYOSnowman · 18/10/2015 15:06

Vicky doesn't want Mike around though

JessieMcJessie · 18/10/2015 15:40

I haven't heard anything that suggests that BYOS, what makes you think it?

BYOSnowman · 18/10/2015 16:00

Because she was a real cow to him when they were moving! She seemed totally disinterested in any concerns he may have and the huge upheaval it was going to be for him

Molecule · 18/10/2015 16:38

Maybe Rob has robbed Ed's bullocks in order to fund his "country gentleman" lifestyle?

As dairyfarmerswife has pointed out, loading unhandled young bullocks into a vehicle in a field would be well nigh impossible, you'd need to get them in a building first with the only means of escape being the ramp into the waggon. I know sheep rustling is common, but all cattle are ear tagged and registered, getting rid of a waggon load even at a very dodgy slaughterhouse would be very difficult indeed.

I'm hoping the unfrocking of Rob involves a feel good Grundy story.

ppeatfruit · 18/10/2015 16:40

True BYOS about Vickoi.

I don't know how many bedrooms Roy has but there'll be problems when if feebs moves back in at the same time as Moike gets the job at Berrow (if it survives Grin)

Gruach · 18/10/2015 16:48

Must have been at least three bedrooms. One for Roy and Hayley, one for Feebs and one for Abby. We know Feebs had to share when Brenda moved in temporarily.

(Unless I've misremembered and Abby shared with her parents?)
