Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

Good point, RockNRollNerd. I should run this past my husband, who is also an only child. How delighted he will be (he is a non-listener who nevertheless has to put up with a lot of Archers talk Grin).

My mum was very, very sad when her sister died because for her that was the end of her birth family. Both their parents had died too and now there was nobody left to reminisce with about her childhood.

It's really just because it's Ruth, though, isn't it? I have less and less time for Ruth with every year that passes. She annoys me enormously. I am a fairly compassionate, empathetic person in real life and I cry at the drop of a hat, but I haven't spilt a single tear for Ruth. My main reaction to her prolonged breastbeating about letting Heather down is irritation. I just want this storyline to be over!

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 16/10/2015 17:00

A while ago someone posted a link to a brilliant weekly archers blog - can't find it now or remember what it's called - anybody?

Gruach · 16/10/2015 17:05

This one?

Bakeoffcake · 16/10/2015 17:10

Another lurker here, I usually find Ruth very irritating but I think some of you are being rather hard on her at the moment.

It must have been an awful shock for her mum to have died in the car like that, especially as there was nobody else there. Also it's only been just over a week, give her some time and then we can all go back to finding her intensely annoying

I also get very anxious when Knob comes on, he's very menacing. When is Helen going to kick him out? I hope she does it before Rob starts on Henry, which he most certainly will when the baby comes along.

BYOSnowman · 16/10/2015 17:23

But she was intensely annoying in the run up as well!!

Gruach · 16/10/2015 18:04

More on the academic conference. From The Independent.

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 16/10/2015 18:12

That's the one, gruach, thank you! Flowers

TopazRocks · 16/10/2015 19:14

Not read all the recent pages as only came up to check remedies online for shingles pain, using DH's PC as mine is kaput and, having been unwell for WEEKS now, I've not managed to get to the shop for a repair, and I might jsut cut my head off before 7.15 as the shingles is so bad tonight. And this room is too cold for me. It's bleddy Baltic here.

Anyway, a few comments - I liked the bitchiness from Peggy as I'd been thinking just lst week the lack of cattiness in Ambridge is not normal. Apart form some gossiping there is too much niceness usually. Of course P is an old snob and a hypocrite and two-faced but it was good IME.

The MW was okay, I felt. She sounded young and maybe a bit nervous. Maybe that was Knob's presence! And she ahd an annoying voice. I also don't think she was convinced by Helen. I think Helen sounded a bit too bright when she was denying DA, hopefully the MW picked that up too. Someone above said it was a straightfrward pregnancy this time. Conception might have been, on paper anyway - but she had pre-eclampsia and a crash caesarean, so is not low-risk at all.

SLs on the As have included a fair few problems in babies - I think the RL stats suggest 10% (obvs includes very minor things as well as the more serious) of babies will have some 'imperfection' at birth. In TA it's what they do witht eh story that's the problem.

It's time one of the oldies got shingles and I could advise ......

BYOSnowman · 16/10/2015 19:16

Sorry to hear you are suffering topaz. No suggestions but my dad went through it a few years ago.

Gruach · 16/10/2015 19:17

Just been looking up the Seven Plagues: Water, floods, lice, disease of animals ...

Gruach · 16/10/2015 19:18

... Darkness, storms, death of firstborn.Shock

TopazRocks · 16/10/2015 19:20

Actually Caroline had shingles. She only had one attack and it never gets a mention. Time she had a relapse - in her FACE.

I wanted to put in a good word for Stirling UNI. Lots of good courses, jsut not Classics. What is aquaculture anyway? Olympic swimming maybe?!

Gruach · 16/10/2015 19:23

Frogs not floods.

Bad luck Topaz. At least you have TA to cheer you up. (Not.)

2rebecca · 16/10/2015 19:27

Anthrax! FFS get a grip scriptwriters. I don't want Ambridge Angela's ashes with 1 catastrophe after another. Get some perspective. It's a British village not the village of the damned.

TopazRocks · 16/10/2015 19:45

All a bit grim, yes. I missed anthrax ref - was too busy scratching my eye out!! And I was hoping Stefan's corpse would turn up. Oh well.

2rebecca · 16/10/2015 20:15

I thought the crisis might be Ed's cows rampaging through the place but that's obviously way too jolly for the new Prozac fuelled Archers.

Gruach · 16/10/2015 20:36

Given the new biblical turn of events I am praying for the safe return of Ed's cows.

Relieved but disappointed that the disaster was not Stefan's swollen corpse blocking the culvert.

Joskar · 16/10/2015 20:49

Poor Ed. I want some happiness for him.

stilllearnin · 16/10/2015 21:56

This'll be a nob shortcut then come home to roost.

Gruach · 16/10/2015 22:01

Such as?

dairyfarmerswife · 16/10/2015 22:18

I predict Rob failed to vaccinate the cows for something ... Maybe ibr? ( infective bovine rhinitis)

mummytime · 16/10/2015 22:28

I wondered if Rob had poisoned the cows somehow.

BYOSnowman · 16/10/2015 22:28

This is definitely a subject we need a professional for! Thanks dfw!!!

Gruach · 16/10/2015 23:02

Boom! And BOOP if Rob is in terminal trouble.

But setting him aside - does this mean Charlie will soon be seeking a job at Home Farm, perhaps cleaning out the picker's caravans?

EBearhug · 17/10/2015 02:08

I was expecting Stefan's body to have been uncovered, too.
