Do you know that I was 3 months pregnant when the first thread started - DD was 2 yesterday Cake

That must also mean that Poppy Grundy's 2nd birthday has passed by unremarked upon...

Why hasn't Ed got insurance? Surely he learnt after the flood?

(I remember my father feeling vindicated about having forked out for foot & mouth insurance. Although even gladder that he didn't have to claim against it. Mind you, he had rather more cattle, acreage and budget to play with than Ed.)

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/10/2015 20:40

The whole of Ambridge used to pop over to France at the drop of a hat at one stage when they were twinned with a French town.

Then the twin thing just faded away.

TopazRocks · 12/10/2015 20:41

You can do PPE in Stirling, I am pretty sure!! I know they are copy cats but anyway there you go.

R4 · 12/10/2015 20:49

Re Feebs:

  1. She has to write her PS. The school have to write their reference. The whole thing has to be in by this Thursday. Is 'still writing the PS on Sunday' a feasible SL?
  2. Is it Oxford she's thinking of? It's only about 90 minutes from Ambridge. If it was Cambridge then Alex might possibly have a point actually, no, he hasn't but Oxford is only a hop, skip and a jump down the M40.

I thought we had decided it was about time that Ed got a break. Although someone was saying the other day how well the Fallon/Emma thing was going, so it must be time to knock Ed'n'Em back down again.
Just call me MysticBore v2.0 Sad

EBearhug · 12/10/2015 21:03

ClarrieLove has probably not been in France since you could buy OTC in the PO.
Don't give them ideas about a Meyruelle storyline.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/10/2015 21:03

The PS is probably on its umpteenth draft. My son's application went in a couple of days before the deadline and it felt as if he'd been drafting and re-drafting for years by that stage.

choccyp1g · 12/10/2015 21:07

Could it be the Hunt left the gate open and scared the cattle into a stampede? Hope they will turn up miles away unharmed. Luckily they are not in calf so the only harm will be to Rob's reputation.

SevenOhTwo · 12/10/2015 21:07

Well, that was depressing.

Definite BOOP (yes I feel a bit overfamiliar using that as a recently de-lurked follower too!) for Emma - not just for her sticking to her guns re her job and supporting poor old Ed, but I particularly liked "still no job then?"

But apart from that the whole lot was just misery. I am going to have to go and check the spoilers thread and console myself that there are more cheery sounding episodes coming soon...

BYOSnowman · 12/10/2015 21:08

Do you think Oliver and Caroline will return home to find the cows have taken up residence?

choccyp1g · 12/10/2015 21:18

All this talk of PPE reminds me of the time a classmate at my hobby art class was -boasting- chatting about her son doing PE at college but still wanting to keep up with his life drawing classes. "Oh" I said, " he'll be learning all about the muscles, so life drawing will be very apt".

Apparently there is not a lot about muscles in a PPE degree at Oxford.

Eastpoint · 12/10/2015 21:23

choccyp1g Grin

You can do PPE at UEA too.

GypsyFl0ss · 12/10/2015 21:26

Having just sent DD off to uni I'll be swearing at radio if they makes Feebs application and Oxford offer sound like a piece of piss. I really can't get my head around her applying for PPE, it's so tough to get in to and she sounds so incredibly drippy.

GypsyFl0ss · 12/10/2015 21:27

And at Durham. That'd put her far, far away from all of them!

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 12/10/2015 21:55

Yes, I wondered about the Hunts involvement in the missing cattle.

The Grindys have noted what a dick Rob is, it would tie up nicely.
I'd like to see Rob squirm his way out of that Grin

He really is enjoying his 'country squire' routine.
I would love it if it were discovered that he didn't go to private school, uni etc A Walter Mitty type.
That would explain why he keeps Helen & his family apart.

IorekByrnisonsArmour · 12/10/2015 21:57

Oh I really do loathe Rob just in case it wasn't clear Grin

BYOSnowman · 12/10/2015 21:58

Well there is a very interesting argument on r4 at the moment!

Maybe scruff has led the cows through the magical sink hole to a better life

stilllearnin · 12/10/2015 22:35

I haven't listened to tonight but I have RTFT Grin

I think the Grundy's will play a role in bringing Knob down. The Ed misfortune has to be tied to something else otherwise it is just more pointless misery. We get it - he's unlucky and has few resources and no buffer. WE UNDERSTAND!!

2rebecca · 12/10/2015 22:45

Back to misery and depression again. Agree Ed has had enough crap thrown at him and Helen is just becoming stupidly passive now.

LillianGish · 12/10/2015 22:56

"Still no job then" Grin BOOP for Emma.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/10/2015 23:14

YY to Knob the hunter having something to do with the missing cows.

Ed will find them and also uncover the body of...

Stefan!

Dun dun DUNNNNN!!!

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/10/2015 23:15

Yes, great big BOOP for "Still no job then?"

Grin
Joskar · 13/10/2015 05:22

Loved "Still no job then?" But also H's bright and brittle reply. She's very good.

Poor Ed. Loved Joe's asides about not finding the cattle.

Stupid Rob. Stupid! Why does he want a farm shop to look like a supermarket. Why are they letting get away with this crap?!

GruntledOne · 13/10/2015 05:35

Knob probably wants a big conflict over the restaurant so that Fallon will flounce. Poor Helen will be back in the position of being expected to back Knob up, without the cushion of a pregnancy announcement to fend him off if he goes for her again.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/10/2015 06:26

Hello! I lost you because of the stupid app and have missed a couple of episodes due to being away on my jolly holidays. I shall rectify that soonest

LillianGish · 13/10/2015 07:00

Agree with whoever it was up-thread who said Knob is going to turn out to be a total fake. That's why he he doesn't want Helen or anyone else for that matter to meet his parents or anyone else from his previous life who will expose him for the charlatan he is. That's also no doubt why he is not applying for any other jobs - he clearly got the Berrow Farm job by some fluke but was found out and resigned in the hope Charlie would not dig deeper. Counting on Charlie not to let it lie and carry on investigating both his incompetence and culvert. Ursula also needs to call up again and say something like "He can't possibly get parental responsibility he has a criminal record/murdered his own brother/destroyed our farm in an arson attack." I want to know more about Knob's background. I'm surprised Helen doesn't.
