Is Ed's wedding very soon?

OP posts:
minkGrundy · 07/05/2015 08:59

Justin Elliot hasn't even been mentioned for a while has he?

WipsGlitter · 07/05/2015 09:00

Has Kathy left? I can't remember having heard from her in ages.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2015 09:20

Susan mentions JE periodically, and I think Kathy's name has cropped up in the not too distant past.

ZeroFunDame · 07/05/2015 09:24

Hmmm

So who are we hoping to hear from over the duration of this thread:

Usha in a proper story about her, Amy, Josh, Ben, Mike, Vicky, Brenda, Hayley, Abbie, Alice talking about her work, Chris, Kathy - bothering with all the Bridge Farm clan who've been such support to her in the past, Jamie, James, Leonie, Mungo, Coriander, (Oscar?), Freddie, Lily, Lewis, the new LL manager, all the Amside contractors and tenants, HWMNBN, poor widowered Bert, Jazzer at the wedding, all Ed's other friends, Rosa (the future Mrs Hebden Lloyd), MAURICE, DEBBIE.

The Archivist should be getting overtime.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2015 10:07

I can do without some of those for long periods or forever - a little of Robert's daughters and their families goes a long way. And HWMNBN is really one of the few people who's ever been pretty much decisively voted off.

EBearhug · 07/05/2015 10:14

Wasn't Debbie mentioned last night, something like David asking Adam what Brian and Debbie think about his plans for sustainable agriculture?

Merse · 07/05/2015 10:58

Agree it is really shabby of the SWs to get our hopes up about Pip leaving and then do a massive U-turn as she starts slavering over hot new male totty.

If there is new talent on the scene then I think it's only right and fair that poor old Lizzie gets some action. Has been a while for her since Roy after all.

ZeroFunDame · 07/05/2015 11:02

True EBear but I'm not sure that a cast a ten intermittently mentioning the thirty people we never hear from again is terribly satisfactory.

I'm always longing to hear Caroline but they never know what to do with her. I hope there isn't going to be a comedy plot with Clarrie having to choose between an embarrassment of frocks.

The SWs seem very mean; in RL I can't believe Oliver wouldn't want to offer Ed and Emma a seriously huge cheque to start married life with (in the interim before he and Caroline retire to South America and give Grange Farm to Ed outright.)

Merse · 07/05/2015 11:03

Clear to me Clarrie is going to take umbrage in major way when given new frock; they have built it all up already, stressing how 'proud' she is etc.

Eastpoint · 07/05/2015 12:34

Thank you for the new thread.

Icimoi · 07/05/2015 12:38

ZeroFun: Wash your mouth out! We are absolutely not hoping to hear from HWMNBN. Please don't encourage the SWs!

Icimoi · 07/05/2015 12:39

Isn't it Josh who's into poultry? I suspect he's either going into business with the Fairbrethren or will set up a deadly rivalry. Probably culminating in a fire.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2015 12:43

Josh is just eggs at the moment

ZeroFunDame · 07/05/2015 12:47
Grin

Sorry but, like CuttedUpPear I liked him. I liked his perturbatory effect on others when he was in distress. And I want Rosa to marry Dan and take over the Stables when Shula, divorced, goes off on her adventures.

And Lillian needs him right now. Every single Amside flat must be collapsing through lack of maintenance.

TeenyfTroon · 07/05/2015 13:45

Just discovered that the party of listeners who are not mortally offended by the very mention of HWMNBN has three members.
CuttedUpPear, ZeroFunDame, and Me!
Maybe not enough to get elected... but could be part of a coalition.

LillianGish · 07/05/2015 14:09

Maybe Caroline could rekindle her affair with Brian since there seems to be an affair re-kindling theme going on at the moment. (Just joking for the benefit of any SW's reading - this is merely a reference to all the harking back to ancient history that seems to be going on at the mo and in answer to the suggestion that Caroline should get more plots).

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/05/2015 14:17

Put me in the hwmnbn coalition

Bluestocking · 07/05/2015 14:24

Zero makes a good point about HWMNBN's effects on the plot. It was interesting to see how regular Ambridgers reacted to him and his plight. As a long-term Shula disliker, I enjoyed seeing how uncomfortable she was with him. But the character was very unlikeable and his whiny voice was intolerable.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2015 14:35

Perhaps they could get the character back with a different voice? Given where Ambridge is supposed to be, there really aren't enough west midlands-ish accents around.

LillianGish · 07/05/2015 15:26

And it's not like they haven't brought any number of people back with a different voice Grin

squeaver · 07/05/2015 18:17

Gawd, Pip's going to be engaged by Christmas, isn't she?

Or she'll have to choose between hot totty Toby and the sheer sex of an automated miking plant in the Hague.

Icimoi · 07/05/2015 18:19

NewHWMNBN might be tolerable, but only if he could also have a bit of a personality transplant and stop being so feeble all the time. Again, it's not as if there aren't precedents for that.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 07/05/2015 18:44

Marking place - the last thread was too long for me, as I too had been away. there is MUCH to discuss

Fairbrothers - what is link? was VERY random.
Richard the GP
Token landowner's Hunt dinner at GG
Caroline will be overworked again - Oiiver was very anti.
THink Ed will be annoyed that the Fairbrothers are still looking for land - asking Daveed to keep an ear out - he thinks that this is his get out.

When is the wedding? and what will Clarrie wear? Imagine Caroline will get her something from Jaques Vert or similar

PseudoBadger · 07/05/2015 19:21

Why has Burnsie turned into Mr Bloom?

OP posts:
ZeroFunDame · 07/05/2015 19:26

Wedding "two weeks tomorrow" according to Ed. That makes it Friday 22nd May.

Goodness, whoever wrote tonight's obviously hasn't flirted in a while.

Toby with his shirt off - shame there's no Poldark effect on radio.
