Does anyone else listen to this? Or am I the only one with this guilty pleasure?! It is completely daft but I find it strangely compulsive. The beginning of today's episode is a case in point: Mrs T is holding the hand of a dead man hanging from a beam but thinks it's her husband (because he's obviously suddenly become 12 feet tall). The whole conversation between her and Mr T on the other side of the room was hilarious, peppered with 'darlings'.

Ah, they don't make them like that any more...

I didn't hear it today but I love it too! I've got absolutely no idea what is going on but I love the 'vintage-ness' of it, the accents, everything like that.

I love Paul Temple. His relationship with Steve is very jolly. I sometimes can't work out whether I've heard a particular series before, because the same motifs are always present (Paul and/or Steve driven off the road, a visit to a louche nightspot, taxis of varying shades of dodginess, I forget the rest). And yet they always return to spirit-swigging equanimity at the end.

I've been listening to both the Paul Temple broadcasts on both Radio 4 and Radio 4 extra. A couple of weeks ago there were two at the same time - it took a while to remember which story was which but they both involved mysterious named suspects and cars being driven off a road.

QueenOfTheSlipstream · 24/04/2015 14:00

Ha ha! Yes, I've been listening to both and am completely confused, but it doesn't matter. And they're run off the road every time!

The police are hilarious. Apparently no crime can be solved without Paul Temple's assistance. Maybe it's because he's so unphased by all the dead bodies he comes across.

Apparently he's published 26 novels...where does he find the time?!

I am so glad it's not just me Blush.

I say, I just love it. The drinking, the gripes about staff, the crashes and assaults. Mystery phone calls and forriners, it's fabulous. Love the way any episode of any mystery has it all.
