BaconAndAvocado · 07/03/2015 21:58

Trying to find a drama about a theme park based on a council estate, set in the future.

A kind of dystopia type thing?

Think it was on in mid February.

Have them recorded...will look tomorrow or Monday, if someone doesnt beat me to it. (But you could just look at the descriptions online!)

BaconAndAvocado · 08/03/2015 20:45

Thanks peace

I have tried to find it on Radio 4 website but no joy.

Pilgrim

Could it be that? Very, very long running drama. I did try followi g for a few months last ywar but gave up. Not my thing at all.

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 21:45

drama on 4

Nothing is jumping out at me...maybe if you scroll through something will chime with what you remember.

GoldfishCrackers · 08/03/2015 22:01

I remember that one. Poorland or something?

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 22:47

This one?

Poorland

songbird · 10/03/2015 13:10

Oh yes I heard that - very interesting in a truly vile idea kind of way!

PeaceOfWildThings · 10/03/2015 13:27

Thanks for that! I'll remember to delete it from the list without listening. I do find some of the Radio 4 plays/drama can range from vile to disturbed, especially the ones with anything of a sexual nature as subject matter. Hmm
Others are brilliant. I should start taking notice if the writers I like.

songbird · 10/03/2015 13:30

Oh no, it's worth listening to. Nothing icky happens, it more the idea of turning a council estate into a theme park is pretty vile - 'point and gawp at all dole scum' kind of vile.

BaconAndAvocado · 10/03/2015 17:50

Thank you peace for finding it.

I was recommended by a friend and thought it sounded interesting.

The trouble with the Afternoon Drama is it always finishes just before the school run Angry

Eek! Looks like I've,only got 2 days to listen to it!

songbird Grin I can cope with that, I think.

Bacon I record them on my TV and listen while I do ironing or crochet.

BaconAndAvocado · 10/03/2015 21:11

peace that's an ingenious idea. I didn't realise you could tape radio programmes off the telly box!

You can do it with some newfangled DAB radios but with mine, the process is too much like setting the old VHS video recorder, so I don't bother.

Toptack · 12/03/2015 07:09

Oooh, I hadn't thought about recording them through the telly either. I always end up missing bits or only catching the end. Now if I can just figure out how the telly works...

PeaceOfWildThings · 12/03/2015 08:12

I record The Archers omnibus, too! Grin

PeaceOfWildThings · 12/03/2015 08:13

No longer do I feel the need to be near a radio ever Sunday, late morning!

BaconAndAvocado · 12/03/2015 20:35

Eek! I've never listened to the Archers but would love to start!

Is it difficult to get into?

My parents love it Smile

I grew up with it. Then lost interest for cough a few decades cough a bit and rediscovered it a few years ago. I think with all the information online now and the character summaries, maps and histories (plus the wonderful MN threads) are all available if you want to get into it.

I record some of the comedy shows as well, like the News Quiz and The Now Show and Just A minute.

BaconAndAvocado · 12/03/2015 21:37

Hmm, will have a gander on the website. It always sounds very cosy when I've caught snippets.

I'm not so keen on Radio 4 comedy, though Just a Minute is superb.
