A big showdown tonight I hope.

Thanks to Zero (I think?) for the great title.

OP posts:

I'm a couple of episodes behind, so apologies if this has already been thought of, but I think Ruth's baby would have been due in the next couple of weeks, so maybe some of her bizarreness in wanting to be near her mum is down to that?

I only know this because she had her miscarriage 4 weeks before mine and I think we were at the same stage.

PetulaGordino · 08/10/2014 19:27

that's a really good point tallgiraffe - they haven't mentioned that at all so far. and sorry about your loss, it must be difficult right now

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/10/2014 19:31

Sorry for your loss tall.

At the time of her miscarriage I thought it was really cynical plot device. I hope they do mention it and don't just pretend it never happened as that wouldn't be very true to life.

PetulaGordino · 08/10/2014 19:36

i'm very confused about the timeline of the road / prospective move to the NE / heather deteriorating

are we expecting a decision on the road within the next few weeks or months? because it could take years. and we don't know how long heather has got. and any farms on the market now may not be at that time. or do farm sales take longer? or were the visits today just recces?

also i can't believe that looking at a farm that's up for sale is as quick as looking round a three-bedroom house. how many can you realistically manage in a day?

unitarian · 08/10/2014 19:44

Turkey testicles in the next thread please!

BasketzatDawn · 08/10/2014 19:48

But regarding the driving offence, did Tom not get points too? I thankfully know very little of this but I'd have thought this would happen in an accident where somebody hits a person through dangerous driving. But I am Scottish and my meagre knowledge of law comes form there mostly - and English TV stories like Morse and Lewis Smile.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/10/2014 19:56

Jill had a point about everything changing, Ambridge not being the same - just what we've been saying for months. And as to not wanting to stay.... I think there's a SW there giving us a message 'sorry....we know.... please dont desert us'. Oh, and the ravens leaving the tower line - exactly. They can't do it. Can they?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/10/2014 19:56

Yes I believe he did and he had to go on a course?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/10/2014 19:57

Ha ha - Jill is the embodiment of the listeners!!!

PetulaGordino · 08/10/2014 20:02

i thought that errol

they're testing us...

BasketzatDawn · 08/10/2014 20:04

Blimey, I suppose it's not quite Chris Huhne and ex wife but it does take the Biscuit.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/10/2014 20:08

But poor precious flower Helen can't possibly take responsibility for herself.

I seem to recall her being unpleasant at the time and Tom had a really hard time.

PrincessFiorimonde · 08/10/2014 23:13

Just came on to say thanks for the new thread, and great title - then realised how long the thread is already.

Don't post much, but love reading these threads.

CuttedUpPear · 08/10/2014 23:51

DS (17) is also overinfested. He thinks the Prudhoe storyline is ridiculous but also loves Deevid and Rooth so is clearly unhinged

He wanted the backstory of George today so I told him about the disputed parentage. I guessed George's age at 6 but DS told me that he reckons George was born when he was 7 so must be older! I think he's wrong but am stunned at his attentiveness Shock

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 05:18

Cutteduppear according to the archers who's who George was born in April 2005 so is 9yo

TallGiraffe · 09/10/2014 06:26

Thanks Flowers I'll be a bit annoyed if it goes unmentioned tbh, if she's anything like me she'll be feeling funny about Christmas as there should have been a tiny baby there this year

Iwantacampervan · 09/10/2014 07:00

Did anyone hear the end of PM programme last night? Radio presenters 'singing' the Archers theme tune as their contribution to BBC Music. It's on the PM webpage but the best part was the build up/ introduction (probably last 10 mins of the broadcast).

GypsyFloss · 09/10/2014 07:18

Farming Today this morning was talking about the UK dairy industry , unfortunately I missed it as I had to shower. I did on the other hand catch both the shipping and the inland waters forecast prior that. A new puppy forces very early starts here...

TeenyfTroon · 09/10/2014 08:14

TallGiraffe, I agree. It's horrible when RL is echoed in TA - same thing happened to me when Clarrie was pregnant with William and I was dealing with a very late miscarriage. Can't hear him now without thinking what if...
On a happier note, I'm also wondering WHERE ON EARTH IS IAN?

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2014 08:41

Yeah I love Morse and Lewis too Basketz [grin ] The only annoying thing is that there are no new ones and I've seen the repeats Hmm Do you like Endeavour? It's rather good IMO.

Sorry for the digression folks will catch up soon !

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 08:45

new series of lewis being broadcast on friday in the UK ppeat

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/10/2014 08:46

Isn't there a new series of Lewis soon with Angela griffin as token female? Or is that a repeat too?

Cutted - sounds like you have a very sensible 17 year old. He will learn why rooth and deevid are not to be adored soon enough!!

Good to hear Ruth actually thinking of Jill. Still thought the episode and characterisation was a pile of Berrow farm manure though

ppeatfruit · 09/10/2014 08:54

Thanks Thanks Pet and Build ! I'm not that keen on Angela Griffin though (well she seems nice but her acting is very samey IMO).

I don't mind David and Ruth that much either (ducks flames) Grin

PetulaGordino · 09/10/2014 08:56

i had to google her, but i don't recognise her. on the plus side at least they are trying to diversify the cast a bit

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 09/10/2014 09:02

David and Ruth don't inspire the bile others do but hey are a bit goody two shoes

Angela griffin is a veteran of soaps and soap style shows (holby?). I don't mind her but she does always play the same character. That's probably not her fault but more a reflection of how tv represents women and ethnic minorities
