New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:
ppeatfruit · 11/09/2014 16:06

Iljk No I thought that Lizzie was fine; I believe that she came to her senses esp. about the twins. I listened again and it seemed that Hayley heard Roy "finishing" the affair and that she didn't have to confront him with the locket.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 11/09/2014 16:34

that must have been a lot of work daddaddad!! why would you bother??? thanks for the insights into the interest peaks!

Abra1d · 11/09/2014 16:45

DadDad I was suspicious because I once befriended a 'Jonathan' who was really 'Naomi'. I kept thinking what a lovely enlightened and sensitive man he was until he/he broke it to me. Wink Glad you're 'reall.

unitarian · 11/09/2014 17:03

Well we're certainly walloping through tis thread! I hope Shroedinger's Baby makes it into the next thread title.

Roy has form for falling for classier women but I wonder now whether his desire to get custody of Phoebe was more to do with vengeance on the woman who scorned him rather than abiding love for Phoebe. A hands on father at this time in his daughter's life would be interested in her exam results, career and A level choices. He's more concerned with the OW's children.
Poor Phoebe - both parents are extra- curricular shaggers and have not a care for her actual welfare after battling for custody of her.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 17:26

Unitarian - that's what I mean about him having a personality transplant. It's like they're trying to rewrite history

unitarian · 11/09/2014 18:01

Or maybe re-interpreting it?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 18:22

But it's one thing reinterpreting history you haven't live through buy I distinctly recall Roy being a loving dad with no underlying hint of malice!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 18:23

And I always thought he was more than fair to Kate given how unreliable she is

Hakluyt · 11/09/2014 18:28

Absolutely. Roy never gave the merest hint that he could ever behave like this. And while in real life people may go suddenly and completely unexpectedly off the rails (although I doubt it myself), in fiction it doesn't work like that. In fiction there have to be clues. It's like introducing a completely new character in the final pages of a murder mystery and saying "look, he did it". And the adult Roy has alwqys been a loving and considerate and thoughtful husband and father and uxorious to a fault.

LillianGish · 11/09/2014 18:40

I agree that Roy has always been a great dad and husband. I think Tom and Kirsty breaking up with Tom having a huge change of heart about he wanted in life is what made Roy question his life own choices. Tom was Roy's best friend and he seemed really set on marriage and settling down and kids (reinforcing Roy's own choices). I think it is entirely feasible that Tom's change of heart prompted a mid-life crisis in Roy so when the opportunity arose he decided to throw caution to the wind. He didn't pursue Elizabeth remember, she made the first move but once he'd crossed that line there was no turning back - he probably thought of Tom and also Brenda and wondered why he should be the boring, sensible one.

mummytime · 11/09/2014 18:50

I think with Roy. He fancies Lizzie. He got an opportunity, and possibly had drunk a bit, so DTD. But being basically decent he can't live with himself "casually cheating on his wife"; so he's been rewriting history. If it wasn't just a ONS and a casual shag, then he must be in love, they must be star crossed lovers, it must be a "grand romance".
So he tried to push it into something it wasn't.

Lizzie on the other hand. Was having a night off. For some reason thought Roy was okay. Decided to just get on with it, and have a quick shag. She also doesn't want to feel awful, so has justified it a bit to herself. But now brought up short by her DC, is back tracking and doing damage limitation.
She will survive even if there is a lot of sniffing in the village (after all she has LL, and a family that might disapprove but won't disown her).

Well I've missed tonight's (so far) due to loud annoying adult children in the kitchen, so I'm going to enjoy all the spoilers on here before I listen later Wink

Mimsy, I liked your suggestion - if I ever have any more pearls of spoilerdom I'll do that with them

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 11/09/2014 19:27

Oh
Hardly any spoilers Sad
Come on, guys - help me out here!

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 11/09/2014 19:31

Rob has persuaded Helen to go hunting. Peggy is a little but dubious about RichJohn. Sharon is due to come and pick him up on Sunday and he has thrown a strop because he wants to stay at Bridge Farm and not go back to Leeds.

Nothing about Hayley/Roy/Elizabeth but the continuity announcer promised us that Hayley would be doing something or other I've now forgotten tomorrow.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 19:46

Sounds like I didn't miss much an ill be home for the Sharon showdown on Sunday!

You must promise to summarise tomorrow nights episode!

TheOneWiththeNicestSmile · 11/09/2014 19:56

Thanks, Mimsy Smile

One adult child is cooking my supper so I can't complain but looking forward to a catch-up later (esp Peggy)(boo hiss)

unitarian · 11/09/2014 20:17

I think that's a good point about Tom's change of lifestyle affecting Roy.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 20:39

Any word on ed tonight? Is he starting his downward spiral?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 11/09/2014 20:43

It was lizzie who seduced Roy though so she must have been thinking about it

So I don't think it was an 'oops, oh well I'll get a shag out of it'

mummytime · 11/09/2014 20:46

Peggy was pretty bitch tonight I thought. Pat says Tony is the happiest he's been for ages, and then Peggy tries to say it was a big mistake getting in contact with Rich/John in the first place.
Ed seemed pretty up beat, him and Jazzer working together to work out how to get more work or something.

LillianGish · 11/09/2014 20:49

Absolutely agree Snowman. I think she was missing Nigel and Roy had filled his shoes I every other way! I think the twins reaction brought her back to her senses.

How about this for a scenario? An angry Hayley confronts Lizzie tomorrow night. Along the lines of "I can't believe you're doing this to our family." Liz responds by saying, "He tried it on but I rebuffed him; I sent that locket back, didn't I? He tried it on again so that's when I asked him to look for another position" Bam!
