New thread for hopefully an exciting Sunday episode. Poor Hayley.

OP posts:
BasketzatDawn · 07/09/2014 19:27

No, not suggesting the others are EA. But they are hen-pecked, at times in quite an extreme way, and it's quite a fine line.

Mike was annoying me tonight. poor Hayley trying to talk. Another nail in the proverbial for Ed and Emmur and his earning capacity?

Helen seems more concerned with what people will think than anything else. That is worryingly isolating too. As well as all the other stuff. I thought jess referring to the tidiness was about her observing Helen's neurotic cleanliness. Professionally, jess must have seen all sorts of housekeeping standards. I am at opposite extreme to Helen, I fear. Blush So maybe I just don't know how to define 'neurotic cleanliness'.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 19:39

I thought it was interesting Hayley said along the lines 'is there anything I should know before I put my foot in it?'

She's doubting herselfdo you think?

BasketzatDawn · 07/09/2014 19:49

Yes, Hayley doubting her own instincts was how I heard it too. I suppose it's as big a surprise to her as to us. Grin That the CrimpleneKing could be an adulterer, I mean. I'm still hoping for her to see the light and be tough. Over a divorce. I reckon Hayley has hidden depths. Apart form Kathy Perks and Sid, have there been any other divorces in A?

cheminotte · 07/09/2014 20:08

Surely Rob will still have to tskea paternity test or pay child support, just Helen won't know about it. I imagine their finances are not joint so she won't necessarily notice.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 20:30

I can't see Jess quietly accepting child support and not telling Helen!

Helen will just get suckered in more and more, perhaps fall pregnant herself and then feel she has to believe whatever nonsense story he comes up with.

cheminotte · 07/09/2014 20:56

But it's not like she 'owes' Helen anything? She has tried to warn her at least twice now, at some point will she not just decide she is well rid of Rob and move on with her own life?
Re Hayley, it was sad how Mike wasn't really listening and she was desperately looking for a reason other than the obvious one.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 21:22

I don't think she would tell Helen for Helen's sake but rather to blow a hole in robs life. Hell hath no fury and all that.

I can't see Hayley holding out much longer. What night did Roy promise to take her out? If he is actually home in time she might raise it then.

MmeMorrible · 07/09/2014 21:25

Just caught up on the podcast. Do you think the van vandal could be Freddie, turning his Roy/Lizzie angst into hooliganism?

cheminotte · 07/09/2014 21:27

Yes you may be right, we will see.
I think Roy just said 'we'll try again one night next week' unless it was Thursday again? 'Same time same place'. As if it wasn't a big deal that he'd kept her waiting on their first night out in months?!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 21:28

Yes I did think that - the way mike was so outraged at what kind of person could do that heavily indicates it is someone we know. And Freddie was off school that day wasn't he?

Or it's vicky killing the business

Or rob, just cos he can

Or Jess, cos she really is nuts

I find them all equally plausible tbh. I'm not buying fred turning into a hooligan to that degree

cheminotte · 07/09/2014 21:32

well remembered on Freddie being off school.
I think Vicki as arsonist is a tad far-fetched though!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 21:33

You never know! She has a ruthless streak!!

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 21:34

Exhibit 1 - Freddie was skiving - was it the right day?

Exhibit 2 - liz asked if he'd been smoking - maybe he had smoked out the van???

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 21:40

Exhibit 3 - mike had to drive a long way to see the van. Freddie was home really late on his bike

But - you would have to be really dense to steal the vehicle of someone who lives in your little village

Icimoi · 07/09/2014 21:55

I thought Jess' remark about the excessive tidiness was directed at Knob, not Hellin - more along the lines of "Yes, he forced to me be ludicrously tidy, I see he's doing the same to you".

BiscuitMillionaire · 07/09/2014 22:13

I think Hayley and Hellin should both LTB and shack up together in some kind of lesbian collective.

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 07/09/2014 22:20

Not sure Hayley deserves that!!

My money is on Hayley moving to brum with vickoi and leaving mike and Roy behind

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 07/09/2014 22:22

Apart form Kathy Perks and Sid, have there been any other divorces in A?

Off the top of my head:

Christine
Jennifer
Debbie
Jolene
Kenton (?)
Matt!
HWMNBN (and his lovely wife whose name I've forgotten already.)

Oliver and Robert pre-Ambridge (not from each other...)

Erm.... sure I've missed some - remind me about the lucious Maurice, he's always moaning about some woman done him wrong.....

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 07/09/2014 22:30

Will and Emma!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 07/09/2014 22:34

Not sure if Nic was married to her ex... (pre-Ambridge.)

At least one Horrobin probably.

And Shula soon surely?

TypicaLibra · 07/09/2014 22:58

Imagine Eleona and the not-to-be-mentioned D**l will be divorced sometime soon. Hope vehemently that all happens off air.

BasketzatDawn · 08/09/2014 00:21

Okay, okay, I knew when I asked about divorces earlier I should have explained I was asking about 'on air' ones, esp. those involving contact with children, money arguments, general acrimony (I was hungry and needed to stuff my face, m' ladies). Anyway, from the list given I think only Kathy and Sid (whose divorce wasn't too acrimonious) and Nic and ex (I think she did moan a bit about not getting money, or enough of it, from her ex), and of course Will and Emma (which is on-going) are the only ones to fit (my) bill. Grin Apart from they who cannot be named, obvs. SW, they MUST remain silent. They've had their time in the sun.Wink

Well, hopefully we'll get a 'good' divorce SL this time. Where Hayley and the girls are okay.

Amazing how the times they are a-changing. Only a few short months ago we talked of a ménage a trois for Jess, Kirsty and Helen. Nor did Kirsty deserve that fate.

ppeatfruit · 08/09/2014 09:36

Basketz I agree about most of the relationships being a bit off in TA but I reckon it's because most ARE in RL.

Hell lives in the same village as her family fgs . Rob isn't locking her in is he? As to the hunting there seem to be 2 different opinions in their family; quite normal IMO, a bit early for Henry to make his own mind up but he could go and see one couldn't he?

PetulaGordino · 08/09/2014 10:08

have just caught up with last night

he completely undermined her with henry didn't he? he had already decided on the pub meal the day before, got henry excited about it, and then told helen that was what they were doing and made out it was to make life easier for her

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 08/09/2014 10:25

There is a lot of food going to waste! First the chicken, now the beef.

Do people really do a whole chicken for two?
