Come and play Grand Theft Combine through the quiet Ambridge streets. And by the way, ROB IS STILL MARRIED.

Bolloxfest is imminent. Will this thread make it to the big day?

Jill's reading was indeed very moving, as was the singing.

ppeatfruit · 05/08/2014 09:30

Sorry R4 I just listened again and didn't hear Lark Ascending I heard "Keep the Home Fires Burning" sung beautifully though! It was nicely done TBH I almost forgot about it all yesterday Blush but I've lit a candle today to make up for my oversight.

ppeatfruit · 05/08/2014 09:34

Sorry R4 I apologise AGAIN for not reading your post properly [blush) I love the Lark Ascending too that was in the Westminster Service not TA Blush

R4 · 05/08/2014 09:42

Was that you being a bit forgetful or are they not making a bit deal of it in France? WW1 is non-stop on the beeb at the moment, and will be for the next four years apparently.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 05/08/2014 10:28

They can move straight from WW1 to commemorating 80 years since Munich and the run up to WW2.

R4 · 05/08/2014 10:37

Smile @ mimsy. I presume their next Big Thing after WW1 will be the centenary of the beeb itself.

PetulaGordino · 05/08/2014 10:43

have just listened. it was very moving and nicely done

trevortrevorslattery · 05/08/2014 10:47

Ooh Pseudo what is an ambient cake? I've seen the description "ambient" on supermarket shelves but don't know what it means makes me think of 90s electronic music

I was blubbing at the remembrance service this morning (listening on iplayer) - lovely

PetulaGordino · 05/08/2014 10:59

presume it means at room temperature, rather than needs to be chilled/heated?

PseudoBadger · 05/08/2014 10:59

That's right, stored and served at room temperature. If she's doing cream cakes then things get slightly more complicated.

Is Emma known for her baking?

Fallon has no business nous at all from what I can hear. Do you really base your cake supply on amateur bakers? Jill isn't going to prioritise baking a cake over everything else she does surely?so fallon could end up with no cakes or loads of cakes and no consistency

PseudoBadger · 05/08/2014 11:19

It's laughable!

ppeatfruit · 05/08/2014 11:35

No R4 We can get all the English programmes we were just busy, no excuses really, but come to think of it I didn't see anything about it here, I wasn't looking though Blush. We go to the normal one in our village in November and I'm always a bit Hmm about the underwhelming mention of the Allies.

stealthsquiggle · 05/08/2014 11:48

The singing was the choir from Kings Worcester, wasn't it? I missed it but plan to listen to it sometime today.

R4 · 05/08/2014 12:00

Is Emma known for her baking?

BYOS! Do you not know that Emmur has got an NVQ in Home Ec (or whatever we call it these days). Do you think that it would pass muster as a Qualification for Matriarchy.Grin

ppeatfruit · 05/08/2014 12:08

But of course R4 Grin. Nic bakes too doesn't she (better than Emm IIRC!)

trevortrevorslattery · 05/08/2014 12:16

Ah thanks Petula/Pseudo

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/08/2014 14:07

Maybe that nvq covered health and safety.

Does that make her better qualified than fallon?

So the pawning - do you think Susan won't be able to find a piece of jewellery, the witnesses to the pawning will put 2 and 2 together and make 5, ed will be accused etc and then the jewellery will turn up behind the sofa?

Also, if you are really broke wouldn't a romantic gesture be better - like a romantic night in the caravan all decked out nicely?

BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/08/2014 14:15

My autocorrect changes bollocks to bolloxfest.

Really confused dh! My phone loves the archers!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/08/2014 14:22

BYOS I suspect the caravan may not be the ideal venue for Emma-centred romance...

But now I'm very worried about what my favourite struggling farmer might have pawned.

The ending was lovely though.

PseudoBadger · 05/08/2014 14:34

Me too Zero - what does he own?

OP posts:
BuildYourOwnSnowman · 05/08/2014 15:03

Wedding ring?

Shotgun?

Cow?

Milk urns that could be upcycled?

George?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/08/2014 15:09

...... Combine harvester?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 05/08/2014 15:12
  • Bearing in mind how uncannily accurate our thread titles often are!
PseudoBadger · 05/08/2014 15:16

Mind you, he said he had to see a man about a dog. Has Will still got that dog?
