Come and play Grand Theft Combine through the quiet Ambridge streets. And by the way, ROB IS STILL MARRIED.

Bolloxfest is imminent. Will this thread make it to the big day?

Incredibly nostalgic. I recognised instantly a very prolific poster from The Archers messageboard of blessed memory. Thanks, emsiewill!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 28/08/2014 19:43

...Wonder if the baby names posters might suggest Maurice as a proper name for Mowgli?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2014 19:48

If J& L have any more kids, what on earth could they call the sibs?ConfusedGrin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 28/08/2014 19:59

Mowgli will just become Mo for short and things will subside.

lalsy · 28/08/2014 20:09

Hello Archers fans - I don't know how I have missed this thread....did anyone else think Rob's reaction to the comment about who Henry's role models are and where he learned to hit rather suspicious?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 28/08/2014 20:14

Baloo?

unitarian · 28/08/2014 20:23

Jess left at Christmas time and it's now almost September. I'm thinking that if she was pregnant she would have told him before now.

Could be an STD I suppose but maybe she's met someone else and now wants a divorce. In which case, does he really want to be free to marry again?

And I also felt he sound shifty about Henry's sudden aggression. He might want him out of day care before a professional starts asking questions.

Oh, it's so much more interesting than Rotaboy's antics in the hay.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 28/08/2014 20:42

Hmm... Didn't Rob secretly visit Jess on Valentines night? Think she revealed that to Helen. So...

And Rob's evil brain saw at once how to use Henry's bad behaviour to further his Helen-enslaving plot...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 28/08/2014 20:47

Jess sounded remakably chirpy for a woman being divorced against her will.

If she's pregnant Rob might leave Helen in favur of his new child.

But the cliffhanger is probably something tremendously boring like money or property he stands to lose on divorce.

KIrsty7318 · 28/08/2014 20:50

When were the Knobster & Jess last together? I think there was some stuff about him going to visit her because she was threatening to kill herself, was that before or after her drunken visit to Helen? And just how much 'comforting' did Knobster do?

stilllearnin · 28/08/2014 21:00

Can you believe I'm away tomorrow. I too think jess would have told him by now if she is pregnant but I am usually wrong! My first thought re Henry was that someone at nursery knows rob- they were asking about Henry's role models and where he learned that behaviour perhaps in a pointed fashion!? But then the jess call has eclipsed that possibility. I think jess is smugly warning rob he will get his comeuppance as something nasty is about to surface

CuttedUpPear · 28/08/2014 21:29

Was Knob's last visit to Jess three months ago???

Shere Khan, however, is a rather good name I feel.

CuttedUpPear · 28/08/2014 21:37

emsiewill your old thread was amazing!

I just had to c&p this little gem:

Oh dear, I think Brian's bitten off rather more than he's expecting with Siobhan the slapper. I predict tears...probably after bedtime.

BiscuitMillionaire · 28/08/2014 21:44

Maybe Jess has discovered something about Helen's inheritance.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2014 21:47

Ha, Brine certainly did get more than he was expecting from that liaison!

JollyGolightly · 28/08/2014 21:55

Tinkerbell or Clovis for Mowgli's sibling.

It's nice to be looking forward to tomorrow's episode again, now that slurpfest is finally over.

I'd love Jess to be pregnant and listen to Rob trying to explain it to Helen, "darling she stole my sperm, don't you see?" "oh yes darling, of course, silly me".

Icimoi · 28/08/2014 21:56

did anyone else think Rob's reaction to the comment about who Henry's role models are and where he learned to hit rather suspicious?

Yes! Decidedly shifty!

GypsyFloss · 28/08/2014 22:05

I wondered whether the call from nursery was going to be a " we've found a mark on Henry's arm and he says that Rob hit him" conversation. Now that would have challenged Helen's unquestioning belief in the wonder and glory of Rob...for a minute or two.

unitarian · 29/08/2014 00:29

Ooh! I'd forgotten about Valentine's night. Wasn't he on that mystery trip to Essex when Jess turned up at the cottage and told Helen that he had been to see her? Helen persuaded him to get a new bed shortly after that.

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 29/08/2014 07:11

Looking back over all the baby talk yesterday and prompted by emsie's "heritage thread" - did Jenny adopt Ruairi? If not, what happens if Brian dies? Might his Irish family claim him? (Though of course Brian could live another 30 years so the question wouldn't arise.)

And was there any mention of James at the baby shower?

GypsyFloss · 29/08/2014 07:15

I don't think that JennyDarling did adopt him. I would imagine, after Brian, his next of kin are his auntie and granny in Dublin . The only adoption that I can think of is Ali adopting Daniel.

The Siobhan/Brian story was so well written. One of my all time favourites.

Iwantacampervan · 29/08/2014 07:49

It was interesting the Rob/Hel conversation following the day after the Dead Ringers sketch!
I think Jess is pregnant - why else would they get Rob going to a baby shower (for people they don't really know).
Was it my hearing or did they seem surprised (maybe only from Emma) that Peggy had given a present for the baby - he is her great grandson.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 29/08/2014 08:16

Only Helen, Emma and rob could concoct out of one child hitting another the narrative in which said child has been influenced by other children and the child who got hit was spoilt!
Yeah, these mothers who won't believe any ill of their own offspring, eh? Or their knob head partners...

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 29/08/2014 08:36

Wasn't the fuss about Peggy's baby bonnet simply the SWs highlighting the fact that Linda has guessed that Peggy also made the matinee jacket, for which Lillian is taking the credit?

But yes, Peggy ought to have given at least a small pub or ownership of a local newspaper....

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 29/08/2014 08:46

(To be fair James is Helen's cousin so sprog is something to do with her...)

(Can you tell I've returned to my laptop and am no longer squinting at desktop on a phone? Bliss. Obsessive bliss. )
