Exeunt, pursued by a sow. And so on, for the next 60 years of The Archers.

It's all about the Sons at the moment. Tom is having an identity crisis, Dan is off to Sandhurst, and poor old Adam is working his socks off.
Follow the undulating Ambridge pastures here!

Oh oh I met Clare Balding. She signed a copy of her book for my DD at Olympia a couple of Christmases ago. She was loveliness personified and chatted to my daughter about DD's horse and the joys of owing ex-racers.

Loving the Front Row special Grin

LillianGish · 22/05/2014 21:37

Can't believe no one has mentioned The Kitchen Cabinet Grin - coming from Home Farm of course (and then from wherever Jennifer's cupboards end up)

LillianGish · 22/05/2014 21:39

Or Pick of the Week (an Ambridge organically veg box!)

LillianGish · 22/05/2014 21:40

Organics - (spellcheck!)

DadDadDad · 22/05/2014 21:57

As I've now outed myself as an Archers listener, did anyone hear Eddie Mair on PM this evening? They had an item on deciding to call off your wedding (topical because of McIlroy breaking up with his fiancée). They used Kirsty's bridal scream scene to illustrate it. He interviewed a relationship therapist and asked about the stress, saying "we heard Kirsty's scream there, like someone falling off a roof." The interviewee didn't pick up on the reference.

LillianGish · 22/05/2014 22:16

Pearls before swine (which is pretty much what I thought when I heard Kirsty's necklace break in the vestry)

PseudoBadger · 22/05/2014 22:49

I love Eddie Mair. That is all.

Just to clarify, I don't think Eddie Mair is a swine - rather the person he was interviewing (for not getting the roof reference).

WillieWaggledagger · 22/05/2014 23:01

I'm sure there is a Thinking Aloud episode there somewhere. Maybe with Shula and D___ll and homelessness/unemployment in rural areas

That would be fine for me because Laurie Taylor makes my skin crawl (he makes grunty noises when the guest is talking) so I would have switched off already

WillieWaggledagger · 22/05/2014 23:02

Balls

Thinking Allowed obviously

DadDadDad · 22/05/2014 23:06

I didn't say that the interviewee didn't get it, just that they didn't pick up on it. To be honest, it was a typical Mair throwaway line, just to give a knowing nod to the listener that he's familiar with the Archers. He wasn't really expecting the interviewee to join in the joke.

TallGiraffe · 22/05/2014 23:44

I love Clare Balding. Is she not married / getting married to Alice Arnold too? I would love love love to go to their house for a cuppa.

GypsyFloss · 23/05/2014 07:02

I think she is in a civil partnership with Alice Arnold.

JollyGolightly · 23/05/2014 07:09

PM was genius, well done Eddie.

ppeatfruit · 23/05/2014 09:28

Agree about Laurie Taylor Willie he's one of the most egotistical presenters on R4 IMO. I accidentally saw him on some T.V. arts prgramme it was abysmal. I felt sorry for the interviewee.

nauticant · 23/05/2014 11:06

Cross Incontinents is my favourite gag from Radio 4 comedy in many years. It was ISIHAC wasn't it?

I love Eddie Mair too.

I have a real dislike of Laurie Taylor.

Abra1d · 23/05/2014 11:19

The thought of Shula and Laurie Taylor on the radio at the same time is making me eye the gin bottle.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 23/05/2014 11:42

Probably, Nauticant, it certainly wasn't my invention!

Would I Lie To You? There's almost no one in Ambridge who hasn't at some point lied to another character, even if it's often a leetle white lie for social reasons.

TeenyfTroon · 23/05/2014 12:49

Well, thanks very much - I'll never be able to listen to Thinking Allowed again without listening for the grunty noise. How could you, WWD? Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 23/05/2014 13:30

It was The Unbelievable Ruth that made me snort.

Thank yiu for cgeering my lunchtime!

BitOutOfPractice · 23/05/2014 13:30

FGS Thank you for cheering my lunchtime!

polyhymnia · 23/05/2014 15:15

I too love Eddie Mair and loathe Laurie Taylor.

RocknRollNerd · 23/05/2014 18:41

Unbelievable Ruth is genius!

How about 'Accosting the Girth' Ben has a fumble with Tilly Button in the village green bus shelter...?

I wonder if the traffic scheme is going to run across Bridge Farm and Pat & Tony are going to sell up and pocket all the cash leaving Helen at the mercy of Rob and Tom with nowhere to keep his now non-organic pigs... That would bugger up the family dynamics for a very long time to come I suspect.

And I'm still worried about Brian's sciatica... but am loving the kitchen interludes very much.

BitOutOfPractice · 23/05/2014 19:05

I'm starting to get really pissed off with Tony. This constant ranting and raving at everyone is starting to really grate. Grrrr!!

Bluestocking · 23/05/2014 19:07

What on earth is Charlie on about? Is he going to make a move on Adam?
