Can I PLEASE just have 13 minutes? 13 measly minutes to myself to listen to The Archers?

Come and enjoy awkward dinner parties galore!

Has Tom realised how much earlier he'll have to get up in the morning, living nowhere near the farm?

Zero and Still - not entirely sure I can pull off either phrase but got to be worth a shot.

Jessie - love your idea and hoping that something like that happens.

Also dissatisfied with Brian giving in - he could have gone out or really raised the stakes by getting a cook in or ordering from one of those posh ready meal places.

Redcliff · 21/03/2014 09:48

PS - am stuck at hospital waiting for some routine blood tests and have paid £3.20 to connect to to wi fi just to get into this thread - what does that say about me.?

TheShimmeringPussycat · 21/03/2014 10:04

I suspect Piggoi isn't going to be too chuffed when Tom comes asking for the money for a deposit having already put the 1K down on the newbuild.

Joy :)

Redcliff · 21/03/2014 10:25

I think she has to cut him off soon . How would they get a huge mortgage anyway - k can't earn that much and Toms business isn't huge so even with deposit help can't see they would have enough for an expensive new build. And the way they keep on saying "we can have it like we want" - if they built on the farm they could have it all the way they want.

TheShimmeringPussycat · 21/03/2014 10:44

Kirsty's voice seems to have an edge of cognitive dissonance to it - perhaps she thinks she has to be 'grown up' now she is getting married, and do all that stuff she really, deep down, isn't into.

TheShimmeringPussycat · 21/03/2014 10:45

or maybe the actress doesn't think this is true to Kirsty, either
or I am overthinking

Redcliff · 21/03/2014 11:29

Don't tell anyone but I had to look up cognitive dissonance but now I have I completely agree - had she just got to swept away ?

ppeatfruit · 21/03/2014 12:16

They chose 'Catheter hall' ! because they wanted somewhere different.
because of KentJolens's wedding at LL.

Love the burning down idea and they could be in the Grundy's cart with Bartleby all decorated with flowers and the whole congregation holding garlands walking behind to the village hall YAAAY Grin Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/03/2014 12:25

The pedant in me has to point out that the cider and bread and cheese in Cold Comfort Farm was for the posh people ('oh darling, how rustic' etc) and the Starkadders were quaffing champers.

Ok, as you were...

(I'd much prefer the burning down Catheter Hall scenario too)

Swannykazoo · 21/03/2014 13:23

Posh readymeals redcliff? Does anyone make them at all?
Actually would have loved to hear Brian refuse to eat a TomArcherBrandSossidgeReddyMealTM
(Don't know how to do superscript)

Thecrazy88 · 21/03/2014 14:19

I dunno if anyone has said this already, but do you think this sick bull of his dad's is going to infect tom's pigs and he will lose them? All this talk of big deposits on houses must be going somewhere.

Do you think Ruth will have an abortion rather than mc? She doesn't seem overly keen on the idea and it's typical David to just not listen.

Sorry to barge in with all that! Hello by the way Smile

RocknRollNerd · 21/03/2014 17:03

I really wish they'd get to the point with the wedstravaganza and general profligacy of Tom and Kirsty. It just doesn't ring true to character, especially for Kirsty - who the hell believes they will have more money the month after a wedding - surely that's the month of doom when all the bills come in, credit cards need paying etc?

I liked Jennydarling's 'after all I've done for you' comment to Brian, she uses it so rarely and has really saves it for the big things in life (or at least in her life) but it just screamed 'I love and care for your son by that tart, the least you can do is buy me a bloody kitchen'.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2014 17:42

When it comes down to it, Brian knows which side his bread is buttered - and despite all his affairs J really is his D Grin. I did rather admire the way she so serenely batted off his various complaints 'are you just going to stand there?' ... 'No, I'm going out...'. Then capitulation in the form of modifying the plan only to add more stuff... clearly he doesn't really care about the price tag.

Wordsaremything · 21/03/2014 19:07

Ooh Ian confronting knob! Good man!

Wordsaremything · 21/03/2014 19:10

sir weeble bodkin or whatever his name is is a crap actor, however nifty he is on the velocipede.

MikeTheShite · 21/03/2014 19:10

I can see this ending nasty!

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 21/03/2014 19:11

OMG!

Cooroo · 21/03/2014 19:11

Was feeling sad and down, but the presence of at least 2 Cold Comfort fans has cheered me up no end. Perhaps Dead Cow was Feckless?

Yes Brian was pathetic. Could have gone out to eat and called JD's bluff. Or they could even have discussed it like adults and compromised on a very swish kitchen at half the price.

QueenOfTheSlipstream · 21/03/2014 19:12

Ha ha ha! He hit him - yay! Go Ian!

Wordsaremything · 21/03/2014 19:12

Where is everyone? :(

StickyProblem · 21/03/2014 19:14

Sir Bradley sounds completely overwhelmed to be meeting Lynda Snell!

Ian punching Nob...couldn't have asked for more. Except for him telling him to stick his drink! Wonderful Ian!!

This ep was FAB!

Wordsaremything · 21/03/2014 19:14

Oh ok ( embarrassed)

MikeTheShite · 21/03/2014 19:15

rooth didn't sound convincing!

Wordsaremything · 21/03/2014 19:16
