Come and enjoy awkward dinner parties galore!

Rubbish, a grown man like Brine if he did have diabetes (which he hasn't) could be expected to take responsibility for his own diet. It's this silly nonsense, sadly not totally unknown IRL either, that women need to run around after those hopeless men-types they share their lives with. And of course the little women are really privileged to do so. aaargh! I was thinking, in spite of annoying voices, at least Alice and Chris seem to have a more equal relationship than many in TA. Or am I forgetting something major?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 20/03/2014 20:17

Redcliff The weirdest thing was that no-one else seemed to find them in the least bit exciting.Shock

"Kitchen Wars" was funny until Brian lost the use of the car and his brain - and was apparently banned from the village shop.....

WillieWaggledagger · 20/03/2014 20:42

basketz i agree he should take responsibility, but if he had diabetes (which he doesn't, so this is moot) chucking all the food out of hte house when he wasn't expecting it could have been dangerous (though he would still have kept stuff in his car etc for emergencies anyway i assume)

but this is academic because it turns out he doesn't ahve diabetes anyway Grin

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 20/03/2014 20:44

It is ludicrous that Lynda has not worked out who the celebrity is, but I am enjoying it nevertheless. Roll on tomorrow!

ComposHat · 20/03/2014 20:45

Sorry yes epilepsy not diabetes. I got confused as my sister's ex had both.

WillieWaggledagger · 20/03/2014 20:45

it's funny how rob is seen to be 'old-fashioned' in terms of his expectations of helen

unlike every other relationship in ambridge Hmm

ComposHat · 20/03/2014 21:00

Yeah... it isn't a hotbed of gender equality is it?

AskBasil · 20/03/2014 21:11

ComposHat, I don't think it matters that everyone hates Pip - everyone in the Archers is horrendous, there isn't one reasonable nice person there (except perhaps Ian). David and Ruth are incredibly boring tiresome people as well, they were exactly as dull and awful as Pip and boyf whose so boring that I can't even remember his name.

They are all perfectly ghastly and you would hate them in real life. I've hated everyone in Ambridge for 25 years and yet still I listen, growling at how awful they all are. Grin

TheShimmeringPussycat · 20/03/2014 21:13

I expected Brian to just go and get a casserole back from Alice.

Nennypops · 20/03/2014 21:28

I'm definitely Not Pleased that Brine has given in so easily on the bloody kitchen. It would have been so much more entertaining if he'd played Jennydahling at her own game and kept talking up the fantastic dinner he'd just had without her and how he was really enjoying being able to cater for himself in the kitchen which had nothing wrong with it. And it's frankly unbelievable that he is so feeble that he would starve and end up begging for chocolate rather than nip into a caff somewhere for a gigantic fry-up breakfast.

ppeatfruit · 20/03/2014 21:34

And the Titch cooks!!!! Iam trying to come to terms with dinobrine FGS. i'm maybe a bit younger than JD but my dh cooks well (he has a talent for turning up the gas a bit high) but he makes me specially unburnt veg. Grin because he's the carnivore and he preps and cooks all the meat.

PigletJohn · 20/03/2014 21:44

all men can cook. How else would they attract single women?

Some pretend not so that women will do it.

ComposHat · 20/03/2014 22:16

I can't cook.

stilllearnin · 20/03/2014 22:58

redcliffe and zero I am completely with you but I keep saying go shizz and so I was keeping quiet until I could do it properly. It's been a highlight actually! Along with the return of Lyndy who I have grown to love - she is interfering yes bit massively kind hearted (which always goes down well with me).

stilllearnin · 20/03/2014 23:06

On the Ruth thing - I do think she will lose it (and I will cry because although david was being unrealistic and not listening to her at all, his little 'it's a blessing' speech made me all broody). She wont tell the boys but will tell Pip and although she is annoying that'll be quite a refreshingly nice daughter supporting mum bit. A younger villager will then get preggers (I think T&K are taking it for granted and may have problems)

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 20/03/2014 23:25

Oh! That could be a rather different story. T & K not going bankrupt but not having quite the future they take for granted - rattling around in their big empty house for decades....

(Not sad if one wants a quiet house obv but they're so smugly certain of everything..)

JessieMcJessie · 21/03/2014 01:01

I have a prediction- we'd never heard of Catheridge Hall before now, had we, not ever in the history of the Archers? I think that, about a week before the wedding, it will burn down or suffer some other fate that renders it useless for T and K's wedding; cue the village pulling together to organise a last-minute reception in a barn at BF, much hilarity about how incongruous K's dress is in that setting, new bonding with BF by Kirsty who does a u-turn on the newbuild and a sigh of relief from Tom who suddenly wakes up to the debt precipice into which he was staring.

You heard it first here.

GypsyFloss · 21/03/2014 07:09

Now that is a great scenario Jessie and very much plays to the community aspect of the village.

WillieWaggledagger · 21/03/2014 07:11

That's very realistic Jessie

JollyGolightly · 21/03/2014 07:40

I'd like.Jessie's scenario too. It can be like the wedding at the end of.Cold Comfort Farm, with champagne and canapes for the gentry.and Joe's cider and rustic vittels for the riff raff. All the cows will be garlanded and it will not rain.

SomewhereBeyondTheSea · 21/03/2014 07:53

That sounds like a much more Kirstie-ish wedding.

ComposHat · 21/03/2014 08:31

Jessie. I think you could be right. Fire/bankrupcy at this hitherto unheard of starely home. Surely if the big budget glitzy showpiece wedding was going to go ahead, it would be at Lower Loxley what with it being run by a relative of Tom's. (Lizzie is Tom's second cousin, right?)

What odds on the Midnight Walkers complete with Jolene's new outfit eforming to provide the entertainment at the Bridge farm hoedown.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogroves · 21/03/2014 08:34

Genius idea, Jessie! Yes also to the Midnight Walkers being involved.

WillieWaggledagger · 21/03/2014 09:06

first cousin once removed maybe?

somewhere else (i can't remember where - maybe the archers facebook page) they were calling it Catheter Hall Grin

PigletJohn · 21/03/2014 09:16

I'm sure T&K will buy their new build cramped modern house. This will bring:
Falling out with fagash lil over poor build quality
Failure to finish the build due to collapse of Amside
Bankruptcy due to rise in interest rates making repayments unaffordable
Negative equity due to fall in house prices
Tom unable to travel quickly to farm due to bad weather/illness/car breakdown/baby probs causing him to place unreasonable demands on Tony
