I have complained to the BBC about i-player

I missed TA last night. Never mind, thinks me, I'll get it later on catch-up. A few hours later, it's not on. Nearly bedtime, still not on. Early next morning, still not on.

They manage to broadcast, six days out of seven, at precisely 7:02. Why isn't there a similarly precise release-it-to-catch-up time? It feels like it's a job that is left to the office junior, who often forgets to do it.
Is there supposed to be a standard for this? DH often has similar grumps about TV programmes - you never know when they will eventually pop up.

I think it depends if its live or not and what broadcast rights have been secured.

It's The Archers. It is pre-recorded and plays every night, except Saturdays, on the wireless. It is the longest-running soap opera in the world. It is the bedrock of BBC Radio 4. If they haven't got a system then there is no hope for anyone.

They finally posted it sometime this afternoon. I know that because, from the 'bookends', you can tell it was the afternoon-repeat, not the original broadcast.

You've got a point. It's never clear how long it will be before BBC radio and TV shows make it to iPlayer - sometimes within minutes, sometimes not for 24 hours. Very irritating.

Why not just say Archers... perfectly obvious then - frequent listener, wish I was a young man hardly young these days.

I agree, it's a pain how some things take a while and others do not. Surely the Archers should have a high priority in the queue and should be encoded before transmission, so can be released on iPlayer at the same time as transmission.

GBBO arrived almost instantly to iPlayer, FWIW.

Sorry NN, it's the standard abbreviation/jargon in the backwater that is Radio Addicts. One forgets that others might drop by!

It is annoying, but the podcast does update very quickly (almost always) - you can find it here. Our broadband connection is good enough that I don't have to download to hear this, I just click on it and it starts to play. Others might have to download it first but at least it's there! Very much second best, though, as you don't get the continuity announcer's comments before/after the episode, says Mrs Archers Saddo.

I have a digital radio which records. Means I don't have to listen live (not in or interrupted by kids), but have it instantly available when I'm ready, so I don't have the Iplayer issue.
