Summer in the Archers

For some reason my sodding itunes has decided to stop updating the Archers omnibus podcasts and only give me the most recent. So I have 1st September and allllll the Ambridge Extras, which I don't really want, but I have missed at least a month if not 6 weeks! :( Can anybody summarise the main plotlines? Think the last one I heard, Jolene and Kenton had decided to get married.

Rob and Helen are having a shagfest at every available opportunity under the disguise of 'jewellery making classes'

Tom's meals are not selling so well but Rob advised him to up production so he's in £ trouble

Darryl has been sleeping rough and Shula has been helping him at the homeless shelter

Pip has gone to Yorkshire Grin

Caroline and Oliver have gone to Italy leaving a loon in charge of GG. Caroline had shingles for a bit.

Kathy has been having a hard time courtesy of Martin at the golf club. Lots of whining, but the whole storyline is too awful to recap.

Mega dairy cows have started to arrive

Disasters have been befalling everyone's roses.

Hi Archers fans

I keep catching this whilst I'm driving to appointments and am getting hooked, so this is a great summary thanks.

Are Rob and Helen the pair with the hush hush conversations and just now he said he can't make it tonight...sounds like he's trying to back out - are they having an affair?

I caught an episode a while back when a woman walked out of her job and an older-sounding lady was leaving an answerphone message saying Come Back immediately you silly girl! type of thing whilst the business was falling apart around her and phones ringing everywhere....

Further detail very gratefully received!

Brilliant, thanks. Any news on Rob's possibly imaginary wife? And, in brief, has Matt been swindled from his life savings by that bunch of dodgy Russians? What happened with Brenda and her dodgy Russian?

Rob and Helen are indeed having an affair. She is single, he has a wife that lives in Hampshire (full story yet to be revealed). Helen is an eco-organic-farming-girl. Rob is manager of a monstrous mega-dairy where the cows never see grass. Her family hate him for all he stands for. There will be fireworks...

The lady walking out of her job was Brenda, she was walking out on her job with Matt and Lilian at Amside. This was part of a horrible ploy to get us all to listen to Ambridge Extra on R4extra. They'll be coming back this week and all will be friends again.

The Russians in brief - Brenda's Russian was a millionaire, they have gone separate ways, but she has a diamond that he gave her as a parting gift. Matt has lost all his money, but he didn't have to. He tore up the contract because keeping Lilian safe was more important to him, and apparently he's not after money, he wants to go for walks on Sundays. Much smooching ensued.

PS Congratulations Olivia! Behind the times as always...

Just to clarify Helen is a single Mum, she has Henry who is two (?) whom she got through sperm donation.

Also, Tom and Kirsty look like they're getting back together.

Crikey, they don't fit much into a summer do they?!

LadyEdith - the older lady was Lillian. Who's a chain smoking, bubbly swigging gorgeous 60 something. Her partner is dodgy Matt who has spent some time in jail due to business dealings. She recently had an affair with Matt's half brother who then died of a heart attack. Eventually Matt found out but with a lot of Russian interlude and losing their offshore account savings he's forgiven her. She's his pusscat, he's her tiger. Always makes me cringe...

The old Clarry has come back but she sounds odd.

The plot lines have all been cringy and are putting me off listening- I don't want tension from the Archers. I want them to go back to living normal boring lives - no affairs with long lost half brothers, no intrigues over flower arranging, secret affairs etc. Just stories about cows, sheep, is it going to rain during harvest etc.

You left out the bit about all the competitors for the Flower and Produce Show rose competition losing their roses to different pests. Usha's were cut and put in a vase by her devoted husband Alan, Jennydworling's were Round-Upped by an East European fruit picker, Constanza the Llama ate Lyndibots's .... zzzzzz

Can anyone actually believe that Kirsty, who's supposed to be a bit of a looker, would get back together with the Sausage Baron? Even one short scene listening to him bore on about his Ready Meals is like nails on a blackboard.

The Russians he was involved with were gangsters, I think. I wasn't listening to AmEx but this is the impression I've picked up from the truly dedicated listeners who put themselves through this torment to save the rest of us the bother.
