Brenda, after a brief demonstration of guts when she ditched Tom, is now driving me mad. She only took the job at Amside because the commute from her marketing job in (Nottingham? Leicester?) was too long, but now that she is no longer building a rural future with Tom, what's stopping her going out and getting a similar job and living in a flatshare in a city? She could even move to London, imagine that! She has no self respect if she keeps working for Lilian a moment longer, given how she's been treated.
I was itching for Moike to say as much today when she was pouring out her heart to him and it was beyond annoying that the best he could come up with was "things will work themselves out" or something similarly trite. Why is nobody making any practical suggestions and reminding her of a life outside Ambridge? It's not as if she ever talks about loving the countryside or having farming in her blood. And surely when she chose her degree subject she knew that there were no jazzy PR agencies in the Greater Felpersham area?
