Could Pip be any more repellent?

God, but she's vile.

Stuck up, entitled, selfish little prick.

Ambridge · 15/05/2013 19:23

Although I loathe her, I'm fascinated by her voice and the weird way she pronounces things.

Unfortunately I think Ruth is going to crumble and slip her some money, though.

Ruth is such a wuss. David didn't go nearly far enough.

CuttedUpPear · 15/05/2013 23:00

I don't know why but i just LOVE Pip right now. She makes me laugh.

It might be something to do with the fact that DD is the same age and was a complete arse at 14-16, during which Pip was being Little Miss Perfect. And annoying me.

I love her turn of phrase now, it's amazing. Here comes the next big Archers rift.

heronsfly · 16/05/2013 06:58

I wanted to slap Ruth last night, all that oooooh Pip. at least David has finally shown some common sense.
And why on earth did she tell her how much money they have leant Josh, its none of her business, but i agree with Ambridge, Pip will get the money in the end, spoilt brat . Angry

EssieW · 16/05/2013 07:11

Why can pip not get a bike? She could cycle to train station, presumably to Spencer's farm etc. the fact it must be a car irritates me!

yegodsandlittlefishes · 16/05/2013 07:17

I am loving the Pip story as well as my eldest can be an entitled little miss teen and I can just see her turning out like that (Im my nightmares) if she doesn't grow up. (Am sure she will though). At the weekend, DD caught a bit of Josh being sensible and was really interested and impressed, but she just missed the wonderful scene with Pip bemoaning her horrendous lack of car. I wish I could have paused the car radio and played it when I picked her up later!

seeker · 16/05/2013 07:18

I'm actually finding the Pip storyline irritatingly unbelievable. She can't possibly have changed that much in a year or so, surely? It's not as if she's 17.....

SenoritaViva · 16/05/2013 12:40

I loathe pip but loving the storyline. I think partly because David and Ruth are being so reasonable. I know she's miss perfect but she has shown glimmers of not being so before (over Jude). Can't believe spencer would put up with her talking to him like that much, he seems too boring reasonable (outside the village shop raging "we need to leave now").

Songbird · 16/05/2013 13:19

I know. He'll dump her and David and Rooooth will get the blame for that too. I love David, I have to say. But then I've only been listening for the past couple of years - no doubt some old lag will come here and say you can't possibly love David because in 1989 he did this and said that Grin

JollyGolightly · 16/05/2013 13:31

I like David, I fancy his voice and know for a fact that he looks great in his Hunter wellies and an old Guernsey jumper. I was really annoyed with Rooooth for almost cheating on him a few years ago.

seeker · 16/05/2013 13:34

I like David too. Even if he did push Nigel off the roof......

SenoritaViva · 16/05/2013 13:53

I like David too. I'm finding Ruth unbelievably soft over peep. I'd be off my rocker at her behaviour but then DH is the reasonable one. But I've also never had a teenager (technically peep isn't anymore but she's a bit behind)

MrsCampbellBlack · 16/05/2013 14:16

Its another Archers abrupt personality change isn't it - they really aren't good at developing characters in a believable way.

Also agree that Ruth is being too soft and that's not in character for her either.

yegodsandlittlefishes · 16/05/2013 15:33

David pushed Nigel off the roof? Well, I love him even more now! Love Ruth too, she's great, but too soft on Pip.
I couldn't get into The Archers a few years back, maybe they change the personalities to make it easier for new listeners to tune in and not feel too alienated for not knowing all the characters' every move for decades.

EssieW agree, the answer is a push bike! (But doubt that will be the scripted answer.)

Songbird · 16/05/2013 16:52

Or a moped, like Rosa!

LondonMother · 16/05/2013 20:30

Ruth wasn't the only one who nearly had an affair. David was this close with Sophie Barlow, let's not forget. Six of one, half a dozen of the other in my view, although he did pull back first.

Pip is unutterably vile. There has to be one in every generation. Elizabeth is far too saintly now and Kate is hardly ever back in Ambridge.

RocknRollNerd · 17/05/2013 07:47

Ah....the moped comment got me in full on channelling the script writer mode.... Rosa has to sell moped to raise cash to continue living in Ambridge with Darrell-ex-machina, Pip gets it and has horrible accident and David and Ruth blame themselves...

lljkk · 17/05/2013 11:03

DH & I were in stitches (laughing) at Pip's outburst last night.

Ambridge · 17/05/2013 14:45

Thing is, she's had her teen strop years, with Juuuuuuuuuuuude (and what agony that was to listen to).

Then she wised up, became sensible and started taking her farming future seriously.

Now, at 20, she's suddenly, bafflingly regressed several years at the flick of a switch. Why??? Do the scriptwriters not realise they've done this storyline already? Hmm

OP posts:
SenoritaViva · 17/05/2013 15:12

It is an enjoyable storyline though!

Although I agree, how can you go from being ridiculously focused to not caring at all? I was rubbish at getting in assignments but I was always rubbish!

I don't quite believe the whole josh pursuit of business either at his age. But as I said earlier I'm fundamentally lazy so perhaps that's why I don't get it?

Cooroo · 25/05/2013 12:14

Baffled here too. She's done rebelling. Why the regression? If my DD talked to me like that I'd feel I'd failed totally.

heronsfly · 26/05/2013 21:15

And that has all fizzled out to nothing yet again.
She was so ungrateful when David made an offer to help, I didnt even think she was going to say thank you, spoilt brat.

Songbird · 04/06/2013 16:00

Aaaaaaand, another personality change from Pip!

heronsfly · 06/06/2013 13:59

Just caught up with the podcasts, and yes, i agree with songbird, Pip is back to being mummy and daddys golden girl, shame, i was hoping she was up the duff with child Grin
