it's been a long time coming....

Who is Celia?

I love the idea of Brenda having to save Lillian but I think that the Celia thing is going to be a bit disappointing. Didn't Anita say she only recorded six episodes - can't see too much SATTC in that timescale.

I think that Tony got excited about the biscuits because Pat has had him on a diet of tofu and lentils since the heart attack.Grin

Brenda saving Lilian from crazed stalker Paul would be great, especially if at the same time she could throw a screaming hissy fit about Tom's sausages.

It took less than a week for the Sausage King to lose his Queen.
Damn! Off in timings...

It was quite sad when Tom, alone without even the cows to keep him company, sat down at the farm desk and sobbed.

Just listened on iplayer after reading this thread.

Brenda was a bit gloopy. I'd hoped she'd leave in a blaze of sausage related insults and not wistful sentimentality.

BTW have I told you my theory that it is going to be AMY who discovers Lilan and Paul - her new flat also has AMAZING views of the cathedral and is SO centrally located in Felpersham....
Reckon its in the same block/building.

Well done Nigella - was almost sad for Tom too but haven't they been engaged for AEONS - surely he would have whisked her up the aisle if he had the whole future all mapped out....

And of course Brenda is leaving, not because Tom is a self absorbed emotionally stunted arse who treats her like shit, but because she's not really a proper woman and he needs the chance to find someone who'll give him the family he deserves.

Good call re Amy, Olivia.

Oh shit- I've just realised. Tom's going to commit suicide isn't he? Then we'll all be sorry.

I like Tom, so much get up and go. I think his parents are fusty idealogues stuck in their ways & don't recognise that he needs room to forge his own way (like they did, ironically!!). Poor lad always in the shadow of favoured eulogised big brother, too.

I thought the portrait of Brenda as self-knowing, non-child-wanting, selfless paragon of altruism was a bit out of character. Or have I missed huge chucks of TA where she discusses her non-need for children with her stepmum or someone?

Btw Olivia I like your theory of Amy finding Lillian n Paul out. It will fit very well with her only recently recovering from being done the dirty by that weird married bloke she was involved with. She will lose the plot completely!

It's been quite a week for relationships!
I missed the end of Thursday's ep so I went back and listened again. It was quite poignant to hear Chris and Alice communicating and giving equal weight to their careers versus Tom the Sausage King assuming that doormat Brenda will go along with his mapped-out view of The Future. I hope that she now does an Alice and leaves Ambridge for a more interesting job. She can come back in twenty years' time, filthy rich and worldly, to be the new Lillian.
No-one has mentioned Lizzie and Iftikar - the romance that never was.

I am slightly Hmm about Pat banging on about how brilliant the cows are. When does she ever do the milking?

Report
seeker · 06/04/2013 11:21

You know, I hadn't thought of that! Why doesn't Pat ever do the milking?

I actually feel momentarily sorry for Tom.

OOOh cuttedup you DID forecast that Paul was trouble with a capital T well done Grin

IMO Lilian gets what she deserves (she's being so vile to Brenda) mixed up with 2 shitty brothers now!!

Sad about Lizzie and Ifti its about time she had a bit of nookie Grin

The Ifti Elizabeth embrace made me want to leap out of the car and away from the radio, was so urgh like watching your parents get it on!
