Recommend me a radio (please!)

It's DH's birthday soon, and he has asked for a radio to listen to the sport on. It needs to be robust enough to withstand sessions at the allotment, have good battery life and be reasonably loud (so he can hear it over the DCs). Medium and Long wave required. Does such a thing exist, for a reasonable price?

Would a DAB not be better, to pick up the digital sport stations?

Got a DAB but they eat batteries.

DH uses this a lot in the garden... and it's got a recharagable battery...lasts a fair while... weatherproof... i got this for dh as he's always in teh garden and he wanted something tough and could withstand a bit of a beating! Quite pricey but worth it!

Bea that looks fab but a bit above budget. Think I might give him a pack of batteries for the DAB and see how it goes - and get him something else to go with them!

I have a Pure Mini (here).

It's great, although as I recall I had to buy the rechargeable battery separately. It has a great battery life and frequently comes out to the garden with me.

Oooooooooooooh Goosey we do have a (different) Pure at home and I didn't know you could get special rechargeable batteries. Must get its details and see if there's a rechargeable battery for our model. Thank you .
