Did anyone think that they might reconise the voice ? (although they all sound the same at times), and, Ive still got a feeling Darrell has got something to do with all this Grin, makes a change from moany Amy though, shes worse than Pip.

ooo i have missed something.

which episode?

dontagreewithit · 19/05/2012 23:47

I thought it sounded like Darrell, too. Not sure what the point of that story would be though...

Ponders · 20/05/2012 00:31

it sounded like Cloive too - or any other Horrobin - or any one of a number of local oiks who have flitted through - they do all sound the same!

IndridCold · 20/05/2012 11:32

Whoever it was they deserve a medal for preventing Ruth and David getting jiggy Grin.

blackeyedsusan · 20/05/2012 13:28

could have been a Horrobin. though there was a suspiciously large amount of darrel talking in the previous episodes...

MrsWembley · 22/05/2012 12:11

Oh, I've missed a episode or two.Sad

Heard the phone call, etc. (agree about the medal, I was listening with a cat's bum mouth), but where did this neighbour of Tom's come from and why does his girlfriend sound familiar?

Songbird · 22/05/2012 12:21

His wife (I think they're married) is Elona, Jack's carer at the home. Peggy wangled them discounted rent in the cottage as she wanted Elona to stay. Darrell's just come out of prison IIRC. I hope we're being led up the (immaculate) garden path with Darrell - it's too obvious!

On other matters, Usha needs to grow a pair and Amy needs to grow up!

Moodykat · 22/05/2012 12:24

Oh I agree Songbird. Amy is making me very cross at the moment. Mind you, so is Alan!

dontagreewithit · 22/05/2012 13:22

I can't work out whether they called the police after the first phone call. Why on earth wouldn't they? They talked about it after the mysterious moving newspaper incident, but no mention (unless I missed something) after the phone call.

They are such upstanding citizens, and not residents of Coronation Street who let loan sharks bully them without involving the police. It makes no sense.

dontagreewithit · 22/05/2012 13:23

Oh, and yes, agree 100% about Usha / Alan / Amy thing. Amy is being a spoilt brat, and Alan is pandering to her. And yes, I understand, she lost her mum when she was young, he was all she had, blahdeblah de blah.

Acekicker · 22/05/2012 22:45

The Usha/Alan/Amy thing is driving me crackers - so much monotoned misery! It's also one of those irritating inconsistencies they've managed to get between Ambridge Extra and The Archers - in AE Usha was all chippy and 'wicked step-mother' about Saint Catherine and how she was ruining her relationship with Alan and Amy and now she's apparently devastated at Amy not wanting to be around her.

I've hoped all along that they don't go for the obvious with Elona and Darrell and really hope this isn't where they're going. Plus would anyone miss Pip/Josh/Ben if they all wound up in the slurry pit Grin.

Also - where is all the Ifty stuff going - he's getting lots of mentions and there was the painful scene with Nic and other women fawning all over him; there's also a suspicous number of references to the girls cricket team...again it seems so clunkingly obvious if they're going to go down the 'he was just correcting my batting stance' route with him.

And finally....having caught up on about a month's worth of Archers in the last couple of weeks, am I the only one who is getting hints of all possibly not being well with Will and Nic (at one stage a couple of years ago I genuinely thought they might be going down a DV storyline as Will was so stroppy about her working but nothing came of it). All that business about her getting ready to work in the bar and changing because she was worried she looked too nice...

MrsWembley · 23/05/2012 19:45

Thank-you for the info re Darrell, though the woman sounded like Jack's carer. She's too nice to be caught up with a wrong'un, surely?Confused

But again - Ifty?Blush

PrincessFiorimonde · 28/05/2012 23:38

I didn't think the voice on the phone sounded like Darrell, but I am pretty bad at this sort of thing.

As for Ifty - umm, don't know. Can't he just go on to develop a relationship with someone like Fallon (there's a gal with an unhappy track record in lurve)?

MrsWembley · 31/05/2012 19:09

Sorry - who?Sad

heronsfly · 31/05/2012 19:39

I still think Fallon will end up with Jazzer Grin.
Im also unsure as to who Ifty is, and where he has popped up from.

OP posts:
Acekicker · 31/05/2012 22:11

Ifty has been shipped in to help with cricket coaching as the other coaches were very busy/too shit at cricket. He's been a big hit with the ladies of Ambridge and is telling the gents of the cricket team how crap they all are. He's getting too much airtime to be an utterly pointless character so there must be a plotline brewing somewhere...

carocaro · 01/06/2012 12:40

Usha shouted at Amy - hooray!

And Daeveed & Ruth were very laid back about the threats I thought; Ruth with just two sheepdogs to protect her!

No Will & Nic are fine, she's decided she want him to get her up the duff.

I miss Tiger and Pusscat and all their plotting, gin and ciggies, and Jazzer too, he needs a decent storyline that does not involved pigs or beer.

Too much Tom, always on about how busy he is, so what, get on with it.

And who is in the cottage on the green that put yellow flowers in their garden sending Linda into a spin as it was not the required red, white and blue colourscheme? How many cottages are they exactly on the green?

Best moment ever recently was Brain finding Adam and Ian in their hot tub in the afternoon, he was very embarrassed, good stuff!

heronsfly · 01/06/2012 14:39

I also wondered about the yellow flowers, and how could Linda possibly not know who lives there ? .

OP posts:
Acekicker · 01/06/2012 15:54

Was I the only one who imagined 'Pusscat' swigging back a G&T and dropping fag ash (when Peggy wasn't looking) in the cake mix the other day Grin.

I did love Chris' shocked 'you don't think they're Republicans do you?' in the same tones the rest of the world would have reserved for discovering a neighbour was a mass murderer Crown.

AdventuresWithVoles · 01/06/2012 16:13

I thought Iftie was a long overdue first ever Muslim character?

Must admit I will think it ridiculous & PC if Ifty twigs but happily accepts Adam+Ian are married. Would be very brave if TA took on widespread Muslim prejudice against gays. Unless Iftie turns out to be a gay (Muslim) man, too. Now that WOULD be brave.

AdventuresWithVoles · 01/06/2012 16:13

Ooh, how did I miss Crown!? For what grand purpose can I next use it? :)

Acekicker · 01/06/2012 16:46

Grin - I've been trying to shoehorn it in too - I figured that was the most appropriate place!

Ifty doesn't live in Ambridge though - they'll need to find a reason to keep him in once the cricket season ends, assuming they don't go for endless stories built around Winter nets!

mummytime · 02/06/2012 17:41

Chris's reaction seemed very realistic to me. We sold our old house to a nice gay couple, that didn't shock the neighbours, but they were very shocked when they displayed a labour poster.

PrincessFiorimonde · 02/06/2012 17:53

Re: the yellow flowers - I think someone in that episode (Jim?) said the house was lived in by a couple who 'commute to work'. Have never heard of such a thing on the Archers before. Shock

I hadn't thought about Ifty being Muslim, but I suppose he might be. Can't really see this being made in to a Muslim vs. gay couple thing, though: too controversial, I think. There again, I'm no good at second-guessing the Archers (or anything else, really.)

ppeatfruit · 03/06/2012 20:07

We haven't heard from Fallon for a long time have we? I reckon she'll get together with Ifty and they'll move abroad to write them out cleverly!

Is it me or are the SWs hung up on cakes and the problems with them, yawn.Clarrie is not usually neurotic about anything is she?
