and of course he's milking on his own...

OliviaMumsnet · 22/01/2012 15:35

What did SUSAN do time for?!

DilysPrice · 22/01/2012 15:54

Susan did time for protecting the dreadful Clive from the authorities following The Great Armed Post Office Robbery of 1980-whatever.

OliviaMumsnet · 22/01/2012 18:44

Goodness.

blackeyedsusan · 24/01/2012 20:02

susan hid clive when he escaped from somewhere(police/prison/custody? ). he put a lot of pressure on her.

I think its time Tony told Tom to pull his weight or push off (and maybe take Helen with him). Feel sorry for Adam at the moment though.

I am ready with my Tom rant now:

Tom is always busy doing nothing, and I wish he'd push off. I cannot stand the way he treats Brendur as nothing more than a "farmer's wife", going on about her looking sexy in an apron, and she has to make all those bloody "ready meals" which sound rank in their made from scratch incarnation, never mind when it gets to a plastic tray.
And that thing about her neglecting him because she was working all the way in - gasp - Leicester! Grr. Angry

And don't get me started on his behaviour in the John/Rich saga.

This thing with Tony doing the milking single-handed is starting to grate. When Brookfield are short of staff, they simply get in some casual labour eg a Grundy. Surely Bridge Farm could do the same, they could call on Eddie - you know, Clarrie's husband - to help. Or perhaps not ...

Hoist by their own petard there.Grin

R4 · 28/01/2012 16:09

Pat & Tony should realise that Tom and Helen are not pulling their weight: Bridge Farm cannot support four adults and the magikal baby. They should retire and sell up.
Now, who can I think of who needs to move on from his current under-appreciated role in farmwork. Who believes in 'real' farming, not factory farming? Who has a grandma who can bankroll him?
Just think of the fun that would cause: Tom and Helen disinherited, arguments about a fair valuation of Bridge Farm, Brine without anyone to run the farm, Debbie called back from Hungary, Lillian bound to stick her nose in somewhere ... There's years' worth of scriptwriting in that!

Ooh now that would rock ambridge to the core

Acekicker · 03/02/2012 18:31

I wonder if Tony is being eased into a 'depression' story line - it is genuinely a huge issue for farmers (think they're something like twice as likely to commit suicide as the general population). Some of the apathy, tiredness etc could be pointing that way perhaps?

twojumpingbeans · 06/02/2012 16:15

I am convinced that Moany Tony has an illness that will require some sort of genetic donation (is that the right phrase??) from a close family member, no one will be a match, except, you guessed it.......... Rich!

OlivierTwistMumsnet · 06/02/2012 20:15

I love the genetic link idea.

Tony's whining made me literally swear at the radio but Tom is also being VERY annoying.

I don't care about JennieDarling being piggyinthemiddle between Brian and Adam either.

Was finding it hard to care.. Shock

baileyslover · 10/02/2012 22:31

Sorry to hijack, but what is the back story with Helen/Tom and John? Why don't they want Tony and Pat to contact Rich? Been bugging me for ages! TIA Smile

WMDinthekitchen · 11/02/2012 06:51

Rich is the sprog of John and Sharon. J had an affair with S (much older than him and well down the social scale as seen by Pat and Tony). S left Ambridge after J died (I think) but came back to talk to P and T when she discovered she was pregnant. They were unpleasant to her (T just went on about not wanting any trouble etc etc) and she left without telling them about the baby. It came out at Ivy Horrobin's funeral when Sharon's other child, Kylie came to pay her respects. Afterwards some facebooking went on, Pat saw pics of Rich and thought he must be John's son because of strong resemblance. Just before Christmas Pat and Tony were allowed by Sharon and her husband Eamonn to meet Rich briefly but the deal was that they could not reveal that they were his grandparents.

ppeatfruit · 12/02/2012 16:12

twojumping that's a brilliant one I hadn't thought of that one!!!baileys From what I can gather Tom and Helen (who's become suspiciously understanding ATM) are jealous of Rich. perhaps because they were thinking of solely inheriting the farm.

Noellefielding · 20/02/2012 00:22

I'm so bored of tony being miserable, it's just so dreary, it's not escapist at all at the moment, moaning and groaning and that awful harlot of a sister of Susan Carter's and her dreadful decorating needs!
HELP ME!

OliviaMumsnet · 20/02/2012 09:46

Tell me about it
And the lovey dovey couples as well - Alice and Chris and Nick and Will
I DON"T CARE!

ppeatfruit · 23/02/2012 10:08

Noelle and Olivia IKWYM but it's THE ARCHERS innit? You gotta listen haven't ya? I like it 'cos it's more NORMAL than crappy T.V. soaps. Grin

AIBUqatada · 23/02/2012 10:12

"that awful harlot of a sister of Susan Carter's and her dreadful decorating needs!" Grin

Yes, I hardly ever tune into The Archers these days, but when I do, it is always all about Neil and his emulsion.

PrincessFiorimonde · 23/02/2012 11:40

twojumpingbeans, what a great idea!

baileys, I think also Helen and Tom didn't want Pat and Tony to contact Rich because John's death was such a painful episode and they didn't want to stir memories of that dark time (Pat had a breakdown, I think).

Agree that it's a bit dull at the moment, but you have to persevere, don't you?

heronsfly · 23/02/2012 19:59

I was cringing when Pat was talking to Kylie,
Hows Rich ?
What did he get for Christmas ?
What kind of bike ? Envy
I still think Pats going to stalk him !

OliviaMumsnet · 23/02/2012 20:00

Oh I wouldnt stop listening! Doesn't stop me shouting tutting at the wireless though!
In fact I rather miss Ambridge Extra- anyone have any news of another series?
