I was wondering that. Perhaps it's a really, really expensive school trip? :o

Paris, I think Jill said.

Mind you, she's so repulsive I hope it's not fair!

How much is a pony these days? Been a while since I bought one! They are at the Catherdral School aren't they, so it will be the Ritz not a Travellodge?

Also did you hear the announcer at the end of last nights archers? He said something like:-

"Tomorrow it's Lilly and Freddie's birthday, I wonder if they will put a banner up on the roof?"

So un-Radio 4!

I hate it when continuity people get matey! But that was quite funny.

I reckon Caspar wouldn't leave much change from 5 grand. That's quite a school trip!

It is what Lily wanted though, so she obviously thinks it's fair.

But Elizabeth shouldn't think it's fair. School trips shouldn't be birthday presents if you can afford for them not to be.

True, it's not like she can't afford a trip and 2 ponies!!

DDs yr 7 French trip -admittedly not to Paris - everyone had to go, the school paid if parents really couldn't. It was a cross-curricular (French, geog, history) integral part of their schoolwork. State school.

Would a private school run an optional French trip - given that presumably its supposed to be educational not just social? If it was a ski trip it would have been a bit more realistic.

CalatalieSisters · 12/12/2011 13:54

Depends on the school trip. I almost felt like cancelling bloody christmas for DS2 when I found out how much his January school skiiing trip was going to cost.

He is getting presents regardless, because of this knee-jerk thing I have that school trips are financially insulated from other goodies, but it does seem that DS2 is as a result getting way more than DS1, who always opts out of these kind of school "enrichment" things.

seeker · 12/12/2011 13:55

Private schools do loads of trips- educational and social. It's one of the things that private school parents say makes their schools better- sort of forgetting that that's what they are paying for!
