Why is he so miserable ALL THE TIME? About everything in general but about his own son in particular? I know Tom is an irritant and I'd probably drink quite a lot if he were mine but geez, enough already!

Because his whole empire has crumber due to dirty clarrie and his sister Jennifer would not lend him any cash to help and Tom has been all you are an old git and know nout and I know everything. So he's a ot on his (organic) plate and totally entitled to grumpydom for a bit.
