AIBU to think my Dad is just not interested in my pregnancy?

Of course I don't think I am being unreasonable at all, because I'm a really reasonable and balanced person.

Anyway, bit of background, I decided that men are just pointless, so I went to a local clinic and after only one or two little white lies was cleared and - wow! - got pregnant straight away. Though I wasn't surprised really as I do look after myself, eat really well and healthily (all organic of course).

But my Dad is upset about The Baby for some reason. I just don't see why. I'm more than 7 months pregnant now, and although I bought a baby monitor only 4 or 5 months ago, he went out and got me another one! I can't believe he didn't remember that The Baby already has one, I showed him all the functions, channels everything. Anyone would think he hadn't been paying attention to my demonstration.

Well the last straw came when he offered to help me carry a big parcel, it was for The Baby. I couldn't believe he was trying to help me. So, AIBU to think he just doesn't care?

I agree, Hellin, it's terrible the way your so-called father refuses to see things your way, which is, after all, the only way.

Why can't he be more like that lovely Ian, who's worked so hard decorating your tiny box-room palatial nursery, and listening to 96 hours of your fascinating conversations all about The Baybeeeeee?

Or your mum, who's finally realised - thank goodness! - that you must be allowed to have your own way in all things, at all times, at whatever cost. Or your 'friend' Kirsty, who so enjoyed her 12-mile forced route march through the snow without stopping for lunch, because of course you didn't want to pollute your body with anything as vile and vulgar as (shudder) food, possibly inorganic?

Or your brother, who quite rightly agrees that you're completely correct to be so upset about the disgraceful behaviour you've had to endure.

I mean, your so-called father actually offered to carry your parcels! How disgustingly insensitive and crass!

You'll be bloody grateful for your father in about 2 hours when the hospital discover your undiagnosed siamese twins, you ungrateful little madam !!

Oh Hellin, you are boring me to death. Ok your father struggled a little in understanding why you couldn't be conventional. But he's trying to be there whereas you are just trying.

oh I am just knew that other people would understand. My mother, bless her, knows by now that I'm always right. And Kirstie just wants what's best for me. And me her - she could do with losing a few pounds! That extra half mile skip to the pub will have done her good. I notice she's always checking out my plate of food and watches all that I eat - she must be really greedy fast-metabolising.

Ian is great isn't he? I think he might be a great father figure. Oh, but of course I don't need a man in my life, nor does The Baby. Just someone to come and do the painting and the cot assembly on demand. The Baby won't need any male influence in it's life. Who needs men to make cheese and pack yoghurt?

I'm really looking forward to the party at Lower Loxley today. I love showing off my neat, petite bump and boring talking to everyone about each detailed stage of my pregnancy. I hope all my family can be as happy as I'm going to be over the coming months!

I don't listen to radio 4 else I could probably give you some better advice

Pancakeflipper - I think you must be jealous dear - did you want A Baby too? I'm not afraid to say I'm trying - I try very very hard you know, at everything. And I'm great.

NineLadies - Helen the great moaning minnie is all over this site like a bad rash. Obviously she's been on a mission to get lots of correct advice and will no doubt offer advice on what to eat and exercise in pregnancy.

Now if all goes well with the birth - bet she's a top expert on breast-feeding too.

NineLadies - I'm sorry, are you saying I'm repeating myself? I would never do that. I said to Mum only the other day, I would never do that. Then I told Tom that I would never do that. Ian agrees that I would never do that. So I don't think you can be thinking of me. Perhaps you're hormonal - have you had A Baby?

I have had A Baby, and I'm in not radioland Shropshire - maybe I'll see you at some of the baby groups?
