Interviews with Tiny Tempah and Plan B on R4 this evening. WTF?

Caught some of this on radio 4 this evening and couldn't quite believe it. I love this kind of music and it was good to hear decent interviews but it seemed out of character for radio 4.
or have i got radio 4 all wrong?
can't stand the archers, and tedious plays and obscure music.
but do like the comedy.
what else am i missing?

Listening to Plan B album right now, tis ver good. I know nothing about him though as most radio 1 interviews involve the dj talking about their night out the night before. yawn.

I heard Tiny Tempah on Front Row Radio 4 a few weeks ago, I think - he sounded very interesting.

I love (this is embarrassing to admit) MoneyBox, especially the phone ins. I have actually saved / made quite a bit of cash off listening to MoneyBox.

NetworkGuy · 01/01/2011 21:01

Yes, MoneyBox more than doubled my Mum's pension each week, back in the mid 90s (she was widowed in 1939, age 19, so could claim War Widow's Pension - it might have been treble the standard pension, but cannot be 100% sure).

GrendelsMum · 02/01/2011 18:52

Wow - that really is impressive. I'm just constnatly informing people of valuable money facts I've heard on MoneyBox.

TheFoosa · 02/01/2011 18:58

that Tiny Tempah fella is very sweet and down to earth and a fan of The Carpenters

UnquietDad · 03/01/2011 15:31

Everybody here seems to listen to The Archers! In fact, every thread on here in the top 10 apart from this one is about the Archers...

Maybe Mr Tempah and Mr B, or fellow rappers, should be put on the Today Programme for an experiment.

"So we, 'as got Nick Clegg 'ere, oo is da main man of da Liber-all! Democratic!! Partee! An' da Deputee Prime Minis-TAH! Reespeck, Nick. Why is you not Prime Minis-TAH?"

"Um, well, there was a coalition agreement back in May which -"

"Is you not like jus' David Cameron's pussy like?"

"Um, look, coalition agreements mean that you don't get everything-"

"An' wot abaht all da poor people wot cannot go to universitee now, eh? Why does you bein' so 2-faced about dis tuition fees ting, hmm?"

"If I could set out the actual plans in the new agreement-"

"Doan gimme dat, you is' jus' screwin' over all dem people who voted Lib Dem!"

(Yes, OK, it's a bit Ali G, needs some work...)

"archers, and tedious plays and obscure music"

R4 doesn't usually play music, unless you count 'Desert Island Discs' or the Sunday Service. But chances are you've got R4 completely wrong if you think it's all Archers and plays. Factual progs are excellent... Food Prog, Today, Moneybox, File on Four, In Touch, Front Row, GQT... and even You and Yours can sometimes hit the mark! I love the experimental comedy... Little Britain and Alan Partridge were first aired on R4... even if, again, sometimes it doesn't work. Right now there's a documentary on called 'Five Guys Named Mohammed'... far better than the 'Oh My God It's An Enormous Teenager!!' tripe on Channel 4

Seconds the general excellence of Radio 4, and the comparative crapness of TV.

Have to admit I don't much like the afternoon plays, though. Even the afternoon play Wot My Friend Wrote was on the dull side.
